After purchasing a townhouse in Southlake, TX that needed updating, we were at a loss as to where to begin, so on a referral from our realtor, we hired Ann Bridgman to help us with paint colors and general design ideas. It proved to be a productive and highly successful partnership. The townhouse needed paint, furniture, appliances and some work on flooring. After selecting three wonderful colors that set the tone for the rest of the design (which my wife & I would never have been able to do with the dizzying array of color options), Ann helped with furniture selection for several rooms, working through her relationship with local furniture stores. The kitchen floor tile was cracked & scratched, so we wanted to tear it out & extend the hardwood from the adjoining room into the kitchen and refinish the existing hardwood floors... Ann had a flooring company that removed the tile & feathered new wood flooring in the kitchen to match - and we have since received compliments as to how well the old & new floors blend. We needed new appliances, and of course Ann had a relationship with an appliance store that outfitted our entire kitchen. Since this townhouse is a second home, all of this work was done while we were back in New Hampshire, which is scary to do from long distance. However, Ann was able to keep tabs of the contractors for us and keep us informed, which helped to keep all of the pieces on time & on budget - a rare accomplishment with projects of this size. Several of the contractors told us that they were responsive out of respect for her. With all of the above work complete, we then needed furniture, light fixtures & other decorations. Once again, Ann narrowed things down to several options, particularly with the myriad array of light fixtures, therefore preventing us from being overwhelmed by too large a selection. She was able to quickly discern our style and presented targeted options, several of which were not necessarily within our comfort zone. But Ann would listen to what we thought we wanted, often agreeing, but when she had a different idea, she gently acknowledged our idea and then tactfully nudged us in a different direction that most often proved much better than our original idea. She was able to subtly move us out of our comfort zone without ever being pushy. When the major work was done, Ann came back to take some pictures. We have a large wall with built-in shelves & cabinets which was still fairly sparse, so she brought several decorations to help fill the space for the pictures. After she placed the pieces, we loved the arrangements so much that we purchased nearly all of them because they fit the room and, because Ann now really knew our style so well, they fit our tastes as well. It was a pleasure working with Ann. She was a true partner and skillfully managed the entire project, which was a huge relief for us being so far away while the work was being done. She can refer you to a reliable contractor for almost any need you might have. She took time to get to know us and our likes/dislikes, so her color selections & design ideas were just the right fit. I wanted to update the curtains in my living room and wanted to make better use of the space, so I contacted Ann. She was amazing at looking at the big picture. She walked through the house and made some really terrific suggestions. We added can lights in the living room- which makes it so much better for reading, replaced the sofa with something more comfortable and usable, painted the walls to change the mood of the room, refinished the wood floors which were tired, and moved my oriental to the dining room and bound a piece of that carpeting to make a rug that works much better! And then she showed me a fabric for my drapes that is fabulous. We have used the room more times in the last few months than we did in the first 15 years. Ann was so helpful in staging my home for sale. She not only gave suggestions and moved the furniture around on sliders (I thought those were little square burgers with onions sauteed on them). She had me buy very specific items and colors to make a room POP!! She told me the best places to go and approximately what I should pay. She had ideas that were inexpensive but helped to sell my house in less than a week. Not bad!! She is a riot to work with too!
