A small group of us (2 couples) recently went to celebrate a birthday for our first time at Blind Tiger. Even finding the restaurant was a unique experience. It's hidden inside Reunion Kitchen (another restaurant). First you check in with the hostess at Reunion. Then she takes you to the back, in an area you didn't know exists, where there's a dark narrow hallway and a locked door shrouded in the dark on the other end. Your hostess guides you through the dark hallway and then clandestinely punches in the code at the locked door and, voila, the door opens into a cozy serene restaurant (Blind Tiger) with a sushi counter and a few tables that can serve not more than maybe 20 people at a time. It feels small, private, tranquil, special. We were the first to arrive when it opened and we had the restaurant to ourselves for about the first half of our meal which felt amazing, like they'd opened up just for us. Our server Julian was very knowledgeable and helpful, taking good care of us throughout the entire evening. He also gave us the best recommendations on how to most enjoy the Blind Tiger experience, which we all did. The food is excellent. Everything we ate was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Some of us had the Omakase tastings and all of us tried several à la carte dishes. The Trio Crispy Rice is a must eat. The Black Cod Miso was absolutely lovely too--and it's fantastic that you can order either a half or full portion of it. The lychee martinis were crisp, clean and sweet. Went for Miami Spice! Their omakase elevated tasting on their regular menu ended up being a better price & you got way more than what their Miami Spice menu offered so that's what I ended up getting. All of their food was amazing! I'd go back for the rainbow tartare - that was some of the best I've ever had. It's a small place and with the omakase experience, we ended up being there for longer than anticipated having to wait in between dishes. Not my first omakase but my first in south Florida. Overall it was a good experience. Went for the valentine experience. Started with what I would consider sushi appetizers before the nigiri. I felt they were relying more on sauces in those dishes- but still solid. My favorite was the "tower" that had a cucumber base, nice chunks of avocado, topped with raw fish. There was a nice Unami flavor with truffle. Truly amazing. The nigiri was fresh- with some fish being preferred over others. Also, they had soy sauce on side so you could add the amount you want. Overall all the nigiri was good except for the shrimp Was my least favorite out of them all. However, I enjoyed each nigiri and trying fish I don't usually get. The last Sushi item was a hand roll. They then served miso soup which I thought was out of place in terms of order. Maybe should have been served first. The dessert in my opinion wasn't good and seemed store bought. In their defense, I am not much of a sweet person. I would have much rather had another sushi dish. However, one thing to note is that with the dessert - they did not give all parties the same type of treats. Therefore, we were a little disappointed when we didn't get the fruit tart and the chocolate macaroon. For drink I got a Japanese vodka drink (can't remember the name) that had a hint of wasabi. Wasn't spicy but you could taste it. The passion fruit mojito was so much better though and actually was part of the main restaurant. Servers were nice! Ambiance was really peaceful and cozy vibe. Blind Tiger A hidden spot within another restaurant. Cozy and small with a great vibe. I went for their Miami spice month and decided to do their Miami spice omakase. It was a journey indeed. I was warned you need a BIG appetite and they weren't kidding. Though the food was great and very flavorful, it was almost too much to finish. Why not 5 stars? I felt like that unforgettable bite was missing. There were some dishes that were amazing but nothing I would dream about. The service was amazing. Joe and Nicole, you were lovely. Explained every dish, refilled waters without asking, had good conversation. However, once the place got really busy, our dishes started to take longer to come out. They were the only two taking care of everyone so they had a lot on their hands. I felt like that took away from the experience as a whole but it wasn't a dealbreaker. I'm genuinely conflicted about even writing this because Blind Tiger is one of those spots you want to keep to yourself. Miami sushi will never be New York, San Francisco, or Japan, let's be real, but this is easily top three sushi in all of Miami for me. The key is non-negotiable, sit at the bar and do the omakase experience. They offer omakase at $50, $70 and $90-ish dollars, which is kind of wild when you consider the quality, the pacing, and how much food you're actually getting. Every piece is thoughtful, beautifully composed, and genuinely exciting to eat. Yes, a few bites lean a little saucy, that's my only critique, but the quality of the fish itself is insane, clean, fresh, and handled with real respect. I believe some of the owners are Peruvian, and you can feel that influence in the flavors and the way the dishes are presented. It adds personality without overpowering the fish, which is exactly how it should be. The experience overall is a straight 10 out of 10. If you keep kosher or avoid shellfish, this place deserves extra love because they offer kosher-style selections that don't feel like an afterthought, which is huge and honestly rare. That alone makes it a standout. One tip I'll give you, and this is important, sit at the bar and do the omakase. I can't really vouch for the rest of the menu, though I'm assuming it's solid, but the bar experience is where the magic happens. Right now, nothing compares to omakase here at this price point. I loved the experience because it was table service vs a sushi chef serving you each dish at the bar. The vibe is very intimate and sexy, the cocktails are fresh and strong! I went during Miami Spice for my birthday. I loved the speakeasy vibe and the sushi was good quality.

I found the Blind Tiger on Yelp, and it looked pretty nice. When I came to the restaurant, I saw that the menu was different and they didn't have sushi. It turned out to be a speakeasy sushi bar, which is really cool. The bar itself is a small, cold room with no windows and an outdated interior.   Even though I didn't expect much from the food at that point, it was still disappointing. I like miso soup in general and am very persuasive about new flavors, but this soup was terrible for me--the broth itself and the seaweed. The only highlight of the dinner were the chicken skewers. The meat was tender, glazed with sweet teriyaki sauce (but again, just basic taste).   We also ordered a bunch of nigiris. All of them were bigger than they should be, and that size came from rice, so the ratio of fish to rice was unbalanced. Ebi, Akami, and Ikura all left no distinct impression. The Wagyu nigiri seemed to have more potential because of the flamed finish, but the meat was too chewy, not worth the $26 per 2 pieces.   I don't want to seem like a hater, but I really think this place is not worth coming to. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but the omakase just didn't live up to the price. The fish quality wasn't quite there--some of the neta was broken, and for nigiri, that's a big no. My friend and I did the omakase experience, and honestly, we were so stuffed halfway through that we almost gave up. The nigiri pieces had way too much rice. Even the table next to us was complaining about it. That said, our server was fantastic--super helpful, polite, and funny. What an intimate concept. I absolutely loved it. When i first arrived here, i thought it must've closed down and was re-opened as Reunion Kitchen which is what you see. I walked around the area to see if maybe maps was a little confused, but soon i learned that Blind Tiger was in fact hidden in the back of Reunion Kitchen. I walked into Reunion Kitchen and asked if this place used to be Bling Tiger, so she smiled and led us to the back, through a door and a black curtain. Ambiance The entire place fits around 5-6 couples at tables and then 5-7 people at the sushi bar. I loved it. It had a very gothic and intimate feel to it. The entire place is split between a few tables and the sushi counter. I knew the food was going to be amazing. We were seated and approached very kindly and George B welcomed us and explained the concept to us. Service First of all, let's talk about George. He was very attentive and so engaging. He helped us with our order and made sure any adjustments were made to ensure a 10/10 experience. He was very knowledgable not just about the dishes but also the story of Blind Tiger and the staff behind it. He did an amazing job, absolutely loved talking with him. Food. I can't begin to explain how good the sushi is. I absolutely loved it. Every bite melted in my mouth and i savored every bite. It was very hard to stop ordering food. It was definitely one of those times where you're satisfied but you don't want to stop eating because it's that good. The torched scallops and sushi rolls were amazing. The nigiri? Best Omakase experience I've had thus far. A hidden speakeasy-ish little gem tucked away inside Reunion Kitchen with a 24 person only seating capacity. I lucked out with a table and the joint all to myself without reservations on a Friday evening, when does that ever happen. Karen, the waitress, was the warmest, most welcoming and attentive server. She suggested the BTS Experience which I also recommend doing at least the first time. She explained all the dishes in detail and since I had her and both chefs to myself, sort of speak, food came out fast. She did give me time in between to enjoy the dishes individually and I thought that was not only thoughtful but shows professionalism. She also showed me around Reunion Kitchen's different dining rooms, wine and cocktail bars, talk about going above and beyond. Now as far as the food, this is what I opted for.... Besides the $90 BT experience, which is 4 courses and 6 nigiri, all chef selections and all exceptionally delicious. I also ordered the Akami crispy rice which was my least favorite; I'd skip that one altogether. Also ordered the crunchy lettuce wrap, is a must try as well as the Salmon torch which is also mouth watering. The BT Experience includes the rainbow tartare, a dish that's phenomenal. To be honest I ordered too much food but I'm glad I got to try a lot of different dishes that way I know what not to order next time. The BT Experience will fill you up and it does include a dessert at the end, chefs choice as well. This joint surprised the heck out of me in a good way. I'd like to come back a try a few other menu items that caught my eye. I'd suggest making reservations in advance because as time goes by and joint becomes popular with limited seating capacity, one won't be as lucky as I was. Went for miami spice and I was really excited due to the secret aspect of the restaurant, which supposedly was a room inside another restaurant. Said and done because when we checked in the hostess walked us through the restaurant to a small room which had traditional decor, and a beautiful sushi bar. This particular room was very simple but what stood out to me in this experience was the quality of the ingredients in all of the plates. One of my favorite spots for sushi. Not only is the food outstanding, but the service is great, which leads to an awesome experience. Blind Tiger has a speakeasy vibe and the food and cocktails are amazing. It is a very small space which gives it an exclusive feel. There are no windows and the decor is minimal, which allows you to focus on the food and conversation, due to limited distractions. The fish selections are super fresh and the plating is phenomenal. The Black Cod is a definite must try. It is super buttery and the the charred edges give the dish a nice additional bit of flavor. The single server is great. She is helpful, attentive and will gladly address any questions or concerns you may have. I have really enjoyed every visit. Wow wow wow all I can say is this is truly a hidden gem in Aventura first you check in and reunion and they take you to a back room with about five tables and a couple seats at the sushi bar. They have a regular menu where you can order rolls and hand rolls and Nigeria and sashimi, but I did the Omakase experience the large one the fish was so fresh. The food was amazing. I like the little quaint back restaurant that you can sit. It's very cute. I cannot believe how great the quality of the fish was. They fly in everything from Japan. They said this is a fine. Just got home from the Valentine's Day omakase experience and overall I had a good time... would rate it a strong 3.5. All of the fish tasted fresh and some nigiri selections were delicious. I think there was a bit of a longer wait between courses. Handroll fell apart when grabbing it off my plate. We were charged $95 when booking however on the menu and on the receipt it says $90 which isn't a big deal but still, it isn't correct. Would suggest just walking in for all that. The drinks are a bit overpriced, however my waitress was really great which I think made the experience what it was. The omakase experience wasn't interactive with the chef nor could you see what was going on. Would I return? Maybe read more
