I have reached out to the company many times in the course of 18 months to try to get a Hunter Douglas shade repaired. The first time Ernie told me he was too busy. The next time he said I had to bring it to the shop. I explained it is a light color, fabric shade that is 8' long and is in the down position as the crank mechanism is stripped. There is no way to safely transport it. He then went on a rant about how an in-house call is expensive. I said that was fine, I just needed it fixed. Gave him all the info from the original order so he would know exactly the type of part he needed. He said he couldn't schedule anything until he got the part. I waited 4 months and called again. He said he hadn't had a chance to investigate. More calls, more excuses. The shade still isn't fixed and I've given up. Every time I've spoken to him, he has been rude and abrasive. One time he even stated that just because Hunter Douglas recommended him doesn't mean he has to repair my shade! He also stated that he makes his money cleaning blinds, not repairing them. Since the type of shade I have can't be cleaned, it isn't worth his time. I strongly suggest recommend using someone else. read more

Brought in blinds for repair but owner proceeded to throw a loud and aggressive rant about blinds from China and how he was glad that his president was applying tariffs on them. I was basically dismissed as a waste of his time as he looked past me to the next customer standing behind me. Not sure if this is his usual demeanor but I won't be back to find out. read more

I was referred here by my father in law. Our blinds genuinely looked brand new when we picked them up. He even re-strung a few of them which had been damaged by cats throughout the years. Absolutely beautiful job, and I would love to come back, however I was told after he cleaned them that he does not normally clean that particular style of blind, as they are difficult to hang dry. I was also shamed probably 6-7 times regarding how dirty my blinds were. I said yes, they are very dirty, that's why I'm giving you my business. I didn't have a pleasant experience in that regard, and I left feeling like I had done something wrong by bringing my dirty blinds into a business who cleans blinds. I had a great experience with this blind cleaning company. Although I had to wait for about two months to get an appointment, Ernie showed up as promised the day of the cleaning. He very efficiently removed the blinds, took note of what parts needed replacing etc. We had about 24 window blinds, all different sizes. he took them to his shop and brought them back and reinstalled them the same day. Blindingly Clean - Custom Hunter-Douglas sliding pantry door - Shades & Blinds Near Me - Santa Rosa, California

I've never written a Yelp review, but this business deserves one. I took four top down/bottom up pleated blinds to be cleaned. The right side bottom-raising string of the largest, 53" wide shade, broke as I removed the blind. Along with a cleaning, I asked for the string to be repaired, and kind of assumed he would also do the other-side string, since if one old one breaks, the other string is not far behind. He didn't figure that out, no big deal. Once I got home and rehung the blinds, the string he replaced for raising the bottom was too short, so the blind now hung crooked. I called for a convenient time to bring it back, saying I was happy to pay for the repair and for the other string to be replaced. When I arrived , he was on a cranky call with his tax person, left me standing over 20 minutes, then decided he didn't have time for my blind after all, starting in on how it was cheap and the strings were tangled on the left side, which raises and lowers the top, a diversionary tactic away from the too-short string he put on the right for raising the bottom. He wasted nearly two hours of my time altogether for that trip. So, I called for another appointment. I showed up, he said to leave the blind and kill an hour or so. I came back in two hours, just as another customer was leaving. The blind was not done. He started in again how my blind was cheap ($186 in 2010 for that one custom blind at Lowe's) and the strings were tangled on the left, top-raising side (that I wasn't complaining about), how the plastic hanging brackets (that I didn't need anyway) weren't standard, he didn't have them, blah blah blah, all these teenage 'reasons' to distract from the bad repair he had done on the right. I listened quietly. It's always embarrassing to meet an adult like that. The issue was, the blind wasn't level now at the bottom. The string he 'fixed' was obviously too short so the blind couldn't go down far enough to be level on that side. I'm guessing he previously just tied new pull strings with plastic tassels onto the old broken string, but didn't restring it. I pointed out, having now asked for new strings also on the unbroken side, that if the strings there WERE tangled (they worked fine) that's what I was paying him to fix, and that the blind had been level before he 'fixed' it. He said, "I'm not taking responsibility for that." He had the blind hanging on brackets behind him and adjusted for a good show, which pulling the strings again would destroy (you have to fuss with it by hand, back and forth, back and forth, to get it to hang kind of near level). He tried to make the problem seem insignificant. I took the blind and left, as I wasn't going to get a good job, or any job, out of him. He was basically refusing to do the work I wanted or to fix his previous work, even though I reiterated I was happy to pay. And he was just going to keep whining about my 'cheap' blind the whole time. My conclusion? He makes more money dunking blinds into a vat for two minutes at $125 and hanging them up to dry than he does on repair work. Even though I called for a good time to come, he was interrupted, couldn't get it done, didn't know how, or didn't want to anyway and decided to cut me loose. I have to say that I was very excited to have our blinds professionally cleaned today. I had talked with Ernie and we set up a time to have him pick them up and bring them back. He said he knew our neighborhood well and had had many clients nearby. I looked forward to today. He showed up very agitated and was angry that our house was hard to find. Granted we live on a quiet rural street, and most people get lost, call and then we greet them in the driveway. No biggie. We are used to that. He was rude and disrespectful from the start. We have a 70" mini blind in our kitchen that had a string fraying so they would not lower properly. We were going to recycle them somewhere, but my wife found Ernie's place, (Blindingly Clean). I was walking around a house I recently purchased. I noticed that the master bedroom vignette roman shade had black spots on it. When I investigated further, the black spots were mold! I called a local blind store, told her my problem, and she gave me Ernie's name and phone number. I called Ernie and told him about the mold. He couldn't have been more helpful...he talked us through taking down the blind. We took it to his shop. He was hesitant to use chlorine to clean it, but he and Laurie did a little test, and it didn't appear to cause discoloration. So Ernie said he'd try and that we should call him back the next week.
