I am happy to have made the switch to Blink Optometric from my regular eye doctor. Dr. Hua was very attentive, energetic, and took time to explain what she was doing and why she was doing it. I didn't even have to ask for a written prescription - she just gave handed it to me at the end of the appointment. At my previous doctor I would practically have to beg to get the paper prescription. The location is convenient and they have clean and modern facilities. Dr. Tang is the perfect eye doctor. He is very skilled and knowledgeable, coupled with a personable and friendly approach. I love that he tells you what he is going to do before he does it and then tells you what he has discovered. He appears to welcome questions and then answers those questions thoughtfully. His confident easy manner probably stems from him knowing that he is good at what he does which minimizes any need for defensiveness. I have had other doctors react very poorly to any questions. The other doctors acted as though I was calling them bad doctors when all I really wanted was some reassurance. Also, Dr. Tang does not appear to double-book his clients like other doctors. Had a new patient appointment today with Dr. Tang. He took his time, explained everything he was about to do, apologized for the bright lights he had to shine in my eyes, and did not try to sell me anything (although he carries a full line of eyeglass frames and contact lens). The front office staff is very nice and polite on the phone. Appointments are readily available. Dr. Tang gave me a lower dose of the pupil dilating drops because blue eyed people don't need as much as brown eyed people. First I ever heard of this after 50 years of going to optometrists. My pupils were thus able to return to normal faster after the appointment. Highly recommend this optometrist. He's knowledgeable, young and eager to please, has great chair side manners, and takes a real interest in you as a person. I am very near sighted and I'm confident that I got the right prescription from him for my very expensive lenses. I'll be back once a year for my checkups. read more

I was totally impressed after the first appointment with him, he found out my left eye has macular pucker which was never informed by my previous optometrist (I had been seeing her for several years and she dilated my eyes once a year during every eye exam). Receptionist was nice. Doctor was super polite, nice. Office is very clean, hi-tech, and with brand new equipment. Cons: doctor is a bit too pushy on stuff that he thinks is good for you, but does not really listens to what you have to say. At the end i was given a "gift bag" and was told that i have to pay extra $60 for a contact lens exam. my vsp always covered the full cost of the exam anywhere else, so i was not sure why do i have to pay extra?! Ok $10 was deductible but what was $50 for? - gift bag full of small samples of contacts lenses that i do not need?! Wow! read more

I have only lived in the Bay Area for a little over a year, so when it was time to get my contact lens eye exam again, I had to find a new optometrist. Well thanks to fellow Yelpers, I don't need to look any further. Dr. Tang and his business absolutely deserve 5 stars. I called thinking I'd need to schedule a week in advance at some inconvenient time. But he actually could see me the next day at a very convenient time. I'm sure if I needed to see him the same day, I could have as well. I arrived at 3pm, and filled out new patient forms, and didn't wait at all. I was offered a beverage even though I didn't have to wait, so I'm impressed by that hospitality. The doctor was very personable and witty, and I could tell wasn't in a rush to get me out like some doctors. He was very thorough and explained each test he was performing and luckily my eyes are good (other than being extremely near-sighted). I got a trial pair of contacts to try, and if I like them I can order through his business, and he says they are cheaper than online. I haven't looked into that yet, but when it comes time, I will definitely order through him. So far, these trial lenses are awesome. The prescription has made my eyesight go back to better than 20/20, and if the part of the lenses designed to help my astigmatism works as it should, I'd be very happy because the last lenses sometimes moved and made things blurry at times. If these new ones don't work out though, Dr. Tang said I could get another trial pair of another brand. In addition to receiving a free pair of contact lenses, Dr. Tang also threw in some contact solution, lens case, and eye drops! I know next year when it comes time for my next prescription exam, more people will know about Blink Optometric, and I might need to schedule days or a week in advance, but it'll be worth it. read more

Dr. Tang first saw my son back in 2009 when he was with another practice. He took such good care of my son for a one time eye exam. I searched him out when it came time for me to make an appt recently. He is knowledgable, polite, and thorough. Everyone was super helpful and knowledgable. I had the exam with Dr. Hua who was very nice and great at answering my questions. After the exam, they helped me pick out frames, which was nice because I can't see myself clearly without my prescription and my husband is not a great fashion advisor. They had a pretty big selection which were reasonably priced and most of the frames fit within the parameters of my VSP insurance plan. Ended up getting regular glasses and sunglasses. I saw Dr. Tang for the second time, but the first time in his new digs which are awesome. Soon after I was diagnosed with diabetes I immediately made an appointment with him at his previous location. He did the most thorough examination I have ever had and assured me there was no damage to my eyes. I saw him again yesterday for an annual check up and again he was very thorough. I wasn't just a number to him, I was an important guest in his business. He took his time and explained each procedure so I knew exactly what was going on. I made this account just to make a review for Blink Optometric because of the experience I had while visiting. I went in about two days ago to look at glasses, and possibly find a friendly optician that could suggest a few good pairs to me. There were three girls in the front, and I was welcomed by Jessica. She was so nice right off the bat. She offered me a cup of tea and then helped me pick out some glasses and wrote down all the glasses info just in case I wanted to order them later on, along with taking a few pictures of me so I can remember how I looked in each of them. How thoughtful! I was a little disappointed/saddened in how she was doing everything on her own. It seemed like she could have used an extra hand but she did an outstanding job in balancing the work load while also helping someone with an adjustment on their frames, and still managing me. If anyone needs a good optician or even good advice, shes so sweet, honest, and can get the job done in such a graceful manner. Our family has been seeing Dr. Tang for several years now and we are extremely pleased with his care. Even when we lived over 30 miles away from his practice, we stayed with him because he is that great. The best quality about Dr. Tang is his patience and kindness. He is very personal and there is no better feeling than being treated by a doctor who is truly committed to your well-being. Dr. Tang listens to your thoughts and needs, then takes all the time necessary to respond. You are NEVER rushed. Dr. Tang is also a Professor of Optometry at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. He is highly knowledgeable and skilled. Before I switched to Dr. Tang, I had been suffering from migraines and felt that it was due to my vision. I suspected that the new prescription for contact lenses received from my prior doctor was off. I returned to see this other doctor several times. And each time, my prescription was modified. He never got it right and the migraines persisted. Then I saw Dr. Tang. After a long examination, Dr. Tang provided a new prescription. He explained everything in detail and in a way that was easy to understand. Dr. Tang's prescription was perfect and my migraines stopped. As for my children, Dr. Tang takes great care of them during their annual visits. He monitors their status very closely and makes sure they are comfortable when they are being examined/treated. When my eldest son needed vision correction for the first time this year, Dr. Tang gave us a thorough explanation of the pros and cons of glasses v. contact lenses, and the various types of contact lenses. Because my son is active in sports, we decided to try the new CRT lenses, which his office offers for patients, including children. My son has been doing great with the CRT lenses and we are happy with the results. Lastly, his office staff is out of this world. They are courteous, professional, and helpful.
