I had a great experience here! I'm plus size and found that there was a ton of options in nearly every style. Staff was super friendly and helpful, zero pushy! They genuinely just want you to find the dress that you love. So helpful. The shop is very cute and comfortable and the appointment times are relatively flexible, just call and ask! There's even some sample gowns that go on sale here and there which is a great way to save some money. I thought the gowns were fairly priced too and they have a tailor that they recommend. BEWARE! DO NOT USE! My fiancée had to get a bridesmaid's dress for an upcoming wedding. First red flag was that they DO NOT ship so we had to drive an hour and a half each way each time we went. When we picked up the dress they had ordered a dress two sizes too big and do not do alterations (second red flag). You would think if you are paying $200+ for a dress they would at least try to accommodate and get a size that was close. Now because of how big the dress is we had to spend an additional $200 for the dress to be altered. So in total a bridesmaid dress is costing $400 for 1 day. Save your time and money and use an online site like Azazie so your bridesmaids aren't spending an arm and a leg for a dress they'll only wear once in their lifetime. read more

The BEST experience!! I have gained some weight over the past few years and haven't been the most comfortable in my skin. I had gone to several bridal boutiques and couldn't find anything I liked with the newer curves in my body. I was feeling pretty disappointed and down on myself by the time of my appointment at Bliss due to my previous experiences at other boutiques. BUT I can't express how wonderful my appointment at Bliss was. Sandy (the owner) had me pick out several dresses that I thought I might like. After talking about what I liked about each one after trying it on, Sandy had a spark of excitement and told me that she had a dress that was just discontinued but in my size if I would like to try it, but I would have to buy it as is since it was no longer in production. I took the risk and tried it on. Before I even had the corset tied all the way up, I burst into tears. The dress was PERFECT!!! I could not have found a dress that made me feel more confident and beautiful. I am so grateful for Sandy's help and guidance! BONUS! In the beginning it was AWESOME! After the dress was purchased, it's been a nightmare, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR ME AS A BRIDE! I needed my dress cinched, cut, TAILORD TO MY LIKING & ACCENT MY FIGURE! This tailor was soooo difficult to work with, she arrived 20+ mins late, then had the audacity to tell me don't be late for my appointments, I explained to her profusely how I WANT YOU TO CINCH MY DRESS!!!! I have a coca cola figure& want all my accents to show!!! I come back 2 for the dress still too big on me she had the nerve to tell me " well then you should of picked a smaller size" I said " I chose a bigger size because I had a baby a few months ago & women after birth some of us may swell or get slender. I wanted to play safe" 3rd try, we went back & forth as I'm telling her it's still toooooo big! To top it off, I only tried my veil once on the 1st fitting. While I ultimately did not get my dress from Bliss Bridal, I had a wonderful experience here. I called and made an appointment with ease, and when I arrived, they had everything ready for me, including my own private room for trying on dresses. Even though I arrived with a list of dresses I specifically wanted to see, they still had me tour their showroom with pins to mark any other dresses I was interested in (which ended up being way too many). They have a nice variety, from the traditional big ballgowns to the more trendy boho look. There's even a big plus-size rack in the middle of the showroom for plus-size brides. My assistant for the day was Macanna (sorry if I butchered the spelling of her name!) who was very sweet and helpful, despite being new to the store. She did a great job of finding dresses similar to what I had in mind and really listened to both my feedback and my mom's (not an easy task since we had very different kinds of dresses in mind). She even suggested alterations that could be made, when she could tell I wasn't totally happy with the dress. I think she struck a good balance between being complimentary and being honest. She helped make the experience a fun, stress-free morning for me. I've actually gone to Bliss Bridal 2 years back as a bridesmaid to try on dresses and didn't love the assistant I had that time (found her impatient and a little rude), but Macanna was wonderful. Prices are fairly standard from what I've seen at other bridal shops. I ended up falling in love with a dress at BHLDN but otherwise would have gone with the Wtoo dress I tried on here. I had no idea where to shop for my wedding dress until my friend recommended Bliss and showed me the gorgeous dress she got here. I made my appointment and went at 10:30 on a Sunday. The inside is soooo cute. I loved it! It's set up to host two brides from what I could see but you're in a private room and you and your friends/family can sit and watch. We were given tags to select dresses and Jessica brought them in one by one and also brought in one she suggested - and I was open to trying on different styles. The woman who helped me, Jessica, was super bubbly and fun. It was never awkward, I never felt pressured or rushed, and I was able to retry on a few dresses to narrow down my final two. The dress I ended up choosing is absolutely gorgeous. It has now since come in and it's even more amazing now that it's "mine." The prices of the dresses I tried on ranged from $1065-$1900. I didn't notice any dresses above that so the price point is comfortable! I first went to bliss after I found a wedding dress because even though I found my dress I still needed something to make it more special like a full skirt and I already had an appointment so I went and I was wowed. Macanna was the lovely girl who helped me in this process. I marked a few dresses to try on and a few full skirts to add to my already purchased dress (from another shop). The experience there was lovely and I felt super comfortable. I ended up getting another dress! Which became my "main" dress and the other was my party dress. HMMM It has been 2 yrs since my wedding, and I can't believe I didn't write this review yet. Jessica and her mom did a wonderful job on assisting me with my bridal gown from the moment I walked in. My main objective when walking in wasn't to even buy a dress, just to browse. Jess showed me the "soon to be discontinued dresses" aka, the dresses going out of season that won't ever come back- which are up to 50% off. I was really glad she was honest, when showing me the ones within my price range, and then the ones that weren't. It allowed me to really see what dresses they had that I could afford. I tried a total of 6 dresses, but I couldn't get past dress #2, because I was already in love. Since it was a dress that was on the floor, it was not a special order, I was able to take my dress home after a few short weeks when they sent it to be fully cleaned, pressed, and made sure it was in perfect order. Thanks to the glowing reviews online, I narrowed my bridal shop search to one boutique and that was Bliss Bridal. Never has any retail professional given as much attention and love as Bliss Bridal. While other bridal boutiques have pushy consultants working on multiple clients at a time, I was the only customer the consultant was working with when I tried on many, many dresses. This is the only place I have encountered where I felt that I mattered. Bliss Bridal is a family-owned and operated store; Jessica, Mom Sandy with Aunt Janet. They were all so gracious, energetic and sincere. Each time I had to go there, I felt like I was going home to see family because they treated me and my mom so well. Never were they pushy and worked within your price range. For instance, when I was working with Aunt Janet, she asked me my price range. Even though I had dresses in my dressing room above that amount, she would not allow me to try on those dresses. They never once pushed or "encouraged" me into buying my jewelry, shoes, bridesmaids dresses, MOB dresses, but I bought my veil there because I wanted to and it complimented my dress. I brought my mom, mom-in-law, and my two MOHs with me and they loved being at Bliss even though I took my sweet time trying on gowns. Also, I have to give a shout out of the seamstress, Joyce. She was so talented and made my dress fit like a glove. She used her magic to make me look like I have a figure glass silhouette when I don't have the figure. Got measured in the fall for a bridesmaid dress. Staff said they order sizes based on the widest measurement they take of your body to ensure it fits... When the dress came this spring it was a literal tent. The tailor said not everything can be altered to look as it is intended to look when things are ordered way too big or small... needless to say she did the best she could with what she was given. The day of the event, halfway through the reception the clasp in the back of the dress broke... i safety pinned that... then a little later the button to the mesh back of the dress snapped off... I left the reception at that point because I did not feel comfortable or secure. For $238 for this dress; not yet taking into account alterations, I would have expected a better quality. I do understand that the hardware of the dress may be something to take up with the dress designer/maker but this all stemmed from the size that was ordered and the amount of alterations needed... just a terrible and uncomfortable experience. read more

Bliss Bridal is a must stop for dress shopping if you are a bride in CT. I loved my experience there and cannot recommend them more. They are so nice and personable and never made me feel pressured to buy my dress from them. They have a highly organized store with tags on each dress that say the price and silhouette. They were open and transparent about price. They told me what there average price of dresses were in their store and if a dress was higher then the budget I gave them, they discreetly pointed it out to me and asked if that was okay and if I still wanted to try it on. Then when my mom last minute decided she didn't want to wear the dress she bought from another store, Bliss Bridal worked with her to get a dress two weeks before my wedding day and get the dress altered in time. Awful experience. Thank god I did not get my wedding dress here. My bridal party spent $300 each per dress and there was 9 of them. Every single dress the clasp broke the day of the wedding. The way they fitted the dresses was awful. One was way to small where we had to take it 3 days before my wedding to a tailor and they had to add more fabric to my flower girls dress. I called the owner very upset the day of my wedding from outside my venue and did not even receive a courtesy call back from her. Our dresses were all kind of a disaster. Four out of five of the bridesmaids weren't local to the area so we were not able to go in to get our dresses fitted. While this is not ideal, I don't think this was an anomaly situation that would have caused the sizes to be so completely off. My measurements were 37" bust, 32.5" waist and 41" hip. In dresses this has always put me anywhere from a size 6-10. The size I was quoted for was a size 14. I voiced my concern of this on the phone and they "assured" me that this would fit because this dress style "runs small". Nope. The dress I received was a true to size Dress Barn size 14. Nothing about the dress even came close to the any of the measurements I sent them. The other three bridesmaids were also given dresses 3-4 sizes larger than they would ever wear. The shop does not offer any kind of alterations (which is baffling), so we all had to take our dresses to get MAJORLY altered. The dresses cost $231 per and our alterations ranged from $95-$250 (yup - one girl ended up paying more than the dress was even worth). Oh and the bridesmaid who was there for the initial fitting, while she didn't need size alterations she had to get the dress fixed anyways because when they made the dress they sewed the sleeve of the dress into the CENTER of the dress at the bust line (like, how??). The looks came together for the wedding day, but there were little details like some dresses still fitting awkwardly due to all the work done on them or clasps that we found either broke or were never included in the first place. So if you choose your bridesmaid dresses from this shop, here's my advice: expect them to size your girls way off & you might as well tack on another $100 (at least) to each dress for major alterations or fixes. read more

Jessica and her mom are amazing! My best friend and I were scheduled to be married two months apart. We not only bought our wedding dresses at Bliss, our bridesmaids also bought their dresses at Bliss. I am not a decisive person by nature and went through a few rounds of looking at dresses and went to four different places. I always came back to Bliss. The customer service and selection of dresses were outstanding. I scheduled an appointment and was able to have a group of people with me in a private area. Jessica and Sandy gave me some heart shaped tags to mark the dresses I wanted to try on. They helped me to narrow down the ones I loved, liked and did not particularly care for. Jessica noted the dresses that were still in contention and kept them on file for me until I came back to make a final decision. After a few visits, I found a new dress that had just arrived and instantly fell in love with it. Jessica found the perfect veil to compliment the dress. There are professional tailors who work with Bliss and come on site to take measurements and perform alterations. The woman who completed my alterations did a fantastic job! The dress fit perfectly. She also altered my mom's dress and my mom was very happy with the results. When looking for bridesmaids dresses, Bliss was the only place that had a large selection of quality dresses. I had seven ladies in my party and I wanted them to all have the same color but I also wanted them to have the flexibility to pick their own styles. I was able to have five of the girls and my mom come and try on dresses at the same time. Bliss has a large room that includes two changing rooms so the group can all congregate and pick out dresses together. Two ladies can try on their dresses at a given time. Each person's measurements were taken privately which I thought was very professional. Other dress places (which shall remain nameless) asked people's sizes and measurements out on a busy floor of strangers and to me, that information is private. All dresses were delivered to my bridesmaids timely. All appointments for tailoring and fittings were timely and the dress was kept in Bliss' possession until a day before the wedding to keep it from getting wrinkled/dirty. Jessica is very responsive via email and answered my millions of questions throughout the process. She is genuinely happy for every bride that walks through that door and offers great advice. It is hard to put into words what my experience was with Bliss. After getting engaged, I gathered my girls and we all went to a large chain bridal shop to try some dresses on and hoped to find "the one". I was rushed, stuffed into dresses that I said I specifically didn't like in the photos they showed me and crammed me into a tiny dressing room with an associate who was helping 2 other groups on a busy Saturday. I felt defeated when I left. There were options but none I felt were "the one". I live in Cheshire and drive past this adorable little shop on a daily basis. I thought, "why not" and gave them a call for an appointment. A bubbly receptionist responded to me immediately and was GENUINELY excited to have a potential Bliss Bride. This time, I brought a small group of just my mother/future MIL/family friend. We were swept under the wing of Shannon and immediately accommodated with an explanation of the process of finding and picking a dress from their wide collection. They make it fun and enjoyable and involve EVERYONE! It was a blast picking favorites and giggling all together. The vibe was unreal. I have never felt so beautiful. It was very, very difficult to pick the final dress.... but, you know what they always say, "you just know". As soon as I pulled into a beautiful Essence of Australia gown, the tears started flowing! It was "the one". So many people told me over and over that it was the most beautiful dress they had ever seen... and I certainly think so too! From the moment I walked in, to my alterations, to the final fitting - I felt and was treated like royalty. THIS is what you dream of as a little girl. I came here yesterday to help my best friend look for a wedding dress. I was incredibly impressed from the minute I walked in the door. The place is decorated so nicely and is so cute. When we walked in there was a sign that said Welcome with her name on it. We were promptly greeted by the owner who would be working with us that day. She was extremely friendly. She explained the process and gave us all tags to tag the dresses we would like to see the bride try on which I thought was fun. It was nice to be given the opportunity to be involved in the process. We were then brought back into a private room where my friend tried on all the dresses. The room also had its own private bathroom which I thought was nice. The owner was very attentive and asked a lot of questions to try to get to know my friend and also all of us on a personal level. The owner was very helpful and took her time. She didn't make you feel rushed or pressured at all. All of the dresses were absolutely gorgeous and the prices were extremely reasonable. When my friend decided on her dress the owner seemed genuinely happy for her. It was overall a very pleasant experience. If any place of business deserves zero stars, it's Bliss Bridal. As soon as I put on the dress that was supposedly custom-tailored and made to fit me by one of the seamstresses employed by Bliss Bridal, Joyce, it was obvious that something had gone terribly wrong. The dress was a good six inches too long. My wedding planners had to pin up the bottom of my dress, which is obvious in every professional picture that was taken, and ruined the effect of the lace hem of the dress. I also missed most of my cocktail hour trying in vain to fix the dress. That is something which, as every bride knows, is invaluable. When I called Jessica Boni, owner of Bliss Bridal, after my wedding, her response was something to the effect of, "the dress was fine at your last fitting." Had I been allowed to try the dress on when I picked it up, the problem with the hem could have been discovered and fixed. Jessica told me that I needed to handle the problem directly with Joyce. Jessica took no responsibility whatsoever for the problems I had with the dress. I was willing to deal directly with Joyce, however, Joyce refused to return my calls. Jessica arranged for me to bring the dress in so that she and Joyce could see what had gone wrong. Joyce was immediately nasty, belligerent, and refused to even look at the dress. She accused me of having my fittings in stiletto heels!!! When I showed Joyce the shoes I had at the fittings, she responded that I was some kind of "scam artist," and that this sort of thing happens a couple of times a year. Would a scam artist have professional photos taken in a dress showing that it was pinned up? Joyce refused to be reasonable, or even logical about the issues with my dress. When I explained to her how it would be ridiculous for me to wear heels that would make me appear taller than my husband at my wedding, she said something to the effect of, "what you do after you leave the store is not my problem." I do not understand what happened, or why there was an issue with the length of the dress after alterations had been done. I am not a seamstress, but my educated guess is that when Joyce moved the belt of the dress after my final fitting, the material that she lazily gathered underneath rather than cutting it from the dress was let out. This guess is based on the fact that Joyce told me she had removed no material from the dress with which she could have made sleeves, which I had requested for her to do. I won my case in small claims court against Bliss Bridal, but that is nothing compared to the agony of having what is supposed to be a perfect day ruined by an incompetent seamstress and irresponsible and unapologetic store owners. I was looking for a specific deisnger and style that was from last season and many stores do not carry, where other shops told me to look elsewhere Jessica told me it would be no problem to get in a sample for me to try and followed through quickly. My mother, grandmother and maid of honor went to the original shop to try dresses on, from the moment we walked in the experience was phenomenal. Jessica was so warm and welcoming, she explained that she had the dress I requested ready to try on and suggested I do some looking around the store as well, she gave me bliss heart tags to mark the dresses I was interested in trying on. I loved that idea as I was able to give some tags to each of the people with me and we could all enjoy the experience together. I ended up going with a completely different dress than what I originally planned but I am madly in love with the dress and the shop. Their new location is even more beautiful and will only bring good things for Bliss Bridal. From every form of contact I have had with Jessica and Sandy it has always been pleasant, prompt and never made me feel like I was a bother to them. I had an amazing experience at Bliss Bridal! I brought a few pictures with me of the style of dress I thought I wanted. While my family and I tagged dresses to try on, Sandy grabbed a bunch that were in the style I had wanted and we got to work! We quickly realized that what I thought I wanted wasn't really what was going to work for me. Sandy was great at assessing what I liked and didn't like and kept bringing dresses until we found the one! I never felt rushed, and I was there for probably two hours my first appointment and another hour my second appointment, which was when I made my final decision. They really made the process extra fun and less stressful. The service was excellent, there was a large selection of dresses to choose from and I found the way they organized and labeled the dresses to be really helpful is well. Another thing I really appreciated was that Sandy never brought a dress out that was above the budget I set (other places I had been to, they would bring dresses out that were $500+ more than what I told them I wanted..). From the moment I walked in the door I was welcomed by a chalkboard with my name on it - and the names of all the brides who had appointments that day! It was so cute and made me feel so special! Then immediately every single person working there were the most warm, friendly, down to earth and inviting people I have ever met! Raquel at the front desk is so helpful and all the girls are cheerful and kind! Jess helped me with my actual fitting and was so easy to talk to and genuinely wanted to help me find my perfect gown. And I did find it! I would not have wanted to get such an important item anywhere else! I encourage all brides-to-be to shop here - it's like Disney World for brides! And their prices are extremely reasonable and their selection is amazing! I can't say enough great things about the staff and experience I received at Bliss Bridal!!! Complete disaster. We were told by the owner any wedding dress can be almost completely taken apart and put back together to suit a person's needs. Not only was the seamstress that works for them rude, but she was incompetent, told us what we wanted done was "impossible", continued to tell us that she was overworked and had too much to do, made me come back for a fitting twice from out if town and had obviously not done any of the work that we had asked her to do or if she did do any of it was completely wrong, sloppy and ugly! My last fitting she told me I would not have to come back and that there were only minor things to do to the gown. Unfortunately I believed her. As the bride, when I came from out of town on the day of my wedding and put the dress on it was ripped underneath, the fitting was completely wrong, and the sleeves were too tight! Nothing she had said she was going to do she did, and I basically cried for an hour until I had my maid of honor go back to the hotel to get a dress out of my suitcase that I could change into after the ceremony. The owners were very nice, the dress was beautiful when it was originally bought, but they seriously need to look into getting talented, invested, nice, agreeable and polished seamstresses. My wedding dress was ruined, my morning was ruined my ceremony was ruined and the pictures are horrible because the dress is so ill fitting and sloppy. Run as fast as you can from this establishment unless they've sure you that they have hired new and accomplished seamstresses who will not consider your wedding dress just another "thing they have to do" in addition to their already busy schedule. I couldn't possibly be more furious about the outcome of this gown. And the only reason I even gave it one star was so that I can write this scathing review in the hopes of preventing any other future brides from this catastrophic experience. read more
