The place is cute and the employees are so nice but the owner is awful and ruins shopping there. She is rude to customer and will even be rude/yell at the staff infront of customers. The only time she was some what decent is when she saw how much I was spending. My review is a reminder for future customers who wish to get a nice gown/ formal dress for a special date, such as my case - I went to The Dressing Room on Feb 2nd with my mother-in-law due to a friend of hers' recommendation. We did not have major problems during our visit, despite the lack of actual dresses - most of the colors and sizes they do not have ready to go - and I understand since is a small business but the choices are extremely limited and sometimes is hard to get a picture of the whole idea - most of the designs they did not have in the store, so I had to stick with a picture in the magazine they gave me to take a look and pick something... So far, it was fine because it was told to us the dress would be at the store between 6-8 weeks -mid/end of March- and if I did not like what I chose, I could exchange, or do alterations. Great! - or not - Between the last days of March and the first week of April, I spoke with an employee from the Dressing Room a couple of times, and all she told me - it was not the store's fault for the delay in the shipment, since a third-party company does the work AND THE DRESS COMES FROM EUROPE. And also another person got the same dress that I did and it was expecting to wear the dress on May 1st *FREAKING OUT WITH THAT INFO*. I'm sorry, but I buy international items all the time from a bunch of different countries, and I've never had such a delay like that before - have you ever considered switching the delivery company, since it's their fault??? So, finally, after lots of stress, April 23rd, I got a call saying my dress was at the store - UHUUUUL - great, let's go pick up!!! I scheduled for Sat 26th at 3 pm, but on Friday, 4:50 I got a message - not even a call - from the store telling me the person who would give me the dress would need to leave earlier that Saturday, but she would be happy staying later any other day of the upcoming week... Since I'm leaving the town for the next couple of days, I preferred to get my dress earlier, and before I leave, after all this headache... So I asked if I could go on Monday and the answer was... NO! and then if I could go on Tuesday, and guess what the answer was NO, again, because she was not available - all of this drama happened on Saturday - So, the cherry on top - I was celebrating my husband's birthday Saturday night and all of a sudden I received a message from the Dressing Room 8 PM!!!!, saying that ACTUALLY MY DRESS IT WAS NOT AT THE STORE THIS WHOLE TIME - THEY JUST ASSUMED. IS THAT REAL? SHE JUST NOTICED MY DRESS WAS NOT THERE ON SATURDAY AT 8 PM??? I DOUBT THE STORE WAS OPEN THAT TIME. Why taking so long to tell me the truth? I was born at night, but not last night... - I do not know how they made this confusion. That Saturday, I decided I did not want to make a deal with a disrespectful establishment. So today, April 28th, I had a call from them that my dress is ready at the store... But it is too late because I already got another dress!!! I'm about to celebrate my one-year wedding anniversary in one month. I have no more strength to deal with this lack of professionalism... It was stressful and painful. This store irks my nerves, and I can not stand that. I do not recommend, go anywhere else but there. Save your precious time from these kinds of people. read more

She really listened to what I liked and didn't like about each dress, and she ended up working with me to take pieces I liked from multiple dresses to put together into a dress that is absolutely perfect for me! So saddened by my experience today. I've lived in North Haven my whole life and have always wanted to stop in here! I finally did today and will never be back! I loved a pair of jeans in the window and as soon as I walked in was ready to drop quite a bit of money but that quickly changed after being helped by a blonde woman. After my first encounter with her I immediately felt like I was a bother to her. I was answered with an attitude and a tone that was so disappointing. Clearly my money was not needed. Had a pleasant experience and the selection was pretty good. I like the small size of the shop so less hectic and the dresses most likely will not be found everywhere. The one criticism would be that when I went to pick up the dress as they they did some repairs for loose beads it was handed to me in a flimsy plastic bag with a hole cut over the hanger barely tied at the bottom so dress was hanging out. I would think for what I spent that I at least should've got a garment bag. The dress needed to be altered for length and my seamstress said the lining in the dress was pretty irregular and required more work than it should've which she showed me so I'm a bit skeptical now. Warning: this store does not feel it is their obligation to refund money for a product that is defective! It took me an hour of arguing and threatening not to leave the store until they issued me a refund. They maintain that they only issue a store credit for 30 days after the sale. I understand and agree that if I am returning an item because I changed my mind, a store credit would be acceptable. However, if the product is compromised and damaged at the time of purchase ( and I did not notice until I was home) too bad for me. Oh, the cost of product $340 plus tax. Buyer Beware! read more

A denim bar features well-priced versions of skinny staples from Articles of Society, Cult LA, and Mavi, along with plenty of graphic tees to go with. We're wild about the accessory selection too, especially the hand-crafted, vegetable-tanned Bed Stu leather bags, belts, and boots. My daughter and I went shpping to the Dressing Room in Madison a week before Covid-19 closed everything down. We bought a sress for $400.00. We did not take dress out of the covering. Never altered or worn. I called to ask if she would give store credit in exchange for the dress since prom was canceled because of Covid-19 and Kris said No! We will not ever step back into the store. I understand not to give back money but a store credit would have been appreciated. The staff are always helpful and once they get to know you, will even call you when your favorite brand comes in. This place has changed hands a few times over the years and I sort of forgot about it. I needed a dress for a wedding and asked a friend where to go and she told me this place is now "Jammed" with all kinds of fabulous clothes and the staff was wonderful. I think I spent 2 hours in here with Elvis helping me try on clothes. He is so enthusiastic about design and patient!
