DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON IF YOU WANT A LASIO STRAIGHTENING TREATMENT. This is my hair only two and half weeks after I got the treatment done. It is supposed to give 90% curl reduction and last for four months, and as you can see it is already frizzy and extremely curly. I spent so much money on this treatment and I expected it to last much longer. While I did not buy the recommended shampoo and conditioner that goes with the treatment, Teri told me I could use other shampoo and conditioner as long as they do not have certain interactive ingredients so I made sure to do that. Keep in mind, I have gotten this treatment four times in the past and used that same shampoo and conditioner and been completely fine and had it last for months. I tried to reach out to come to a resolution and I felt dismissed and talked down to by Teri. Very disappointing experience both with my hair and with the customer service. read more

Had a horrible experience last week at this place. Their stylist ruined my $300+ balayage by over toning my hair with first a wrong color and then while correcting it, ended up totally covering all my highlights. I am still in shock, how that stylist even has a job, as this is a very big mistake for someone listed as a coloring expert on their website. The owner of the studio accepted the mistake and didn't charge for the toning service, but unfortunately that doesn't help as it totally ruined my hair, right before a special event and it will take me $$$$ to get my hair back to how they were. Very dissatisfied. My daughter went to have extensions and they only lasted a week. When I called to speak to the owner she told me since we didn't purchase them from her she couldn't guarantee the service. I paid almost $200 and after a week they all came out. When I called to ask the owner if she can put them back in she told me that she discussed with my daughter that since the extensions weren't purchased at the salon she couldn't guarantee them. Funny-she didn't reiterate that information to me when I gave her the $200. She didn't even offer some kind of remuneration. I didn't expect her to redo them for free but she was less than helpful to try and keep a new client. Would not recommend this place ti anyone. read more

Worst hair cut I have ever had! Kept waiting for over half an hour past my appointment then got my hair washed and waited some more. Razor cut went way too short on top and ides with long side and bottom layer. Kind of like a mullet from the 80's. Styled with excessive hair spray and just flattened to my head. Left side longer than right side. Owner, Terry, was my stylist! This cut cost me $70 and when I complained she said I could come back and get a perm! It will take a long time for it to grow out long enough for that to ever happen. I will never return there. read more

Not bad... I only get my hair cut once or twice a year (I know, I know) and I have a salon I love but it's all the way in Bergen County. So, after a few searches, I found Bliss Hair Studio which is literally a 2 minute drive from my house. The salon is clean and modern and the staff are incredibly nice. I was able to make a last minute appointment for Saturday morning. I arrived promptly at 12:00 for my appointment but my assigned hairdresser didn't come to greet me until 12:30. In the meantime, the receptionist brought over pieces of cake to all of us in the waiting area, which was nice, but certainly doesn't make up for a 30 minute wait. The salon was busy, which is understandable, but isn't that the point of making an appointment? I told my hairdresser what I wanted and then she took me over to get my hair shampooed. I always hate getting my hair shampooed because I feel like my neck is going to snap off in the sinks. The place that I love in Bergen has comfy chairs that prevent that neck-snapping feeling but at this place, I was tense the entire time. Onto the haircut. The woman cutting my hair was really nice and sweet but honestly, I wasn't a fan of what she did to my hair. I explained to her what I wanted and that my hair has a naturally beachy/wavy texture. I showed her photos of what I wanted too. In the end, she blow dried my hair and it looked great with the blow out but I knew it would not look good with my natural hair texture. And 'lo and behold, the next time I shampooed my hair, it looked choppy and awkward. Luckily, my hair is still pretty long and I can throw it over my shoulders and take to it myself and fix the choppy bits on my own. I plan on giving this place another try, especially since it has such great reviews, but I'm going to just request someone else for my next "annual" haircut. read more

I can't say enough good things about Teri, the owner of Bliss, and about Bliss Hair Studio by Teri. I recently contracted Bliss to do hair and make-up for my wedding party and myself. I worked with Teri beginning 4 months prior to the wedding to do trial hair and make-up as well as to get my hair in tip top wedding shape. Teri did a wonderful job listening to my needs and wants and making recommendations for what she thought would be appropriate. She was able to overhaul my color through low lights, highlights and a glissio treatment. I saw her four times prior to the wedding and each time she was able to instill confidence in me that I was in good hands. The day of the wedding Teri and her staff could not have been more prepared and professional. They showed up well in advance of our start time with just about every hair tool and products you can imagine and mountains of make up. My wedding party were all pleased with the way that their hair looked, as well as was I. Teri went above and beyond to make me feel and look special and was very patient with photographers that needed to interrupt and pause the hair and make up services to capture some other photographs. Teri took her time and was in close communication with me to make sure that she knew that I was happy with how I looked. The stylists that she brought with her Kat, Diane and Bridget were also all wonderful. I've been a client of Bliss's for years now, and am always beyond ecstatic after my routine hair cut/color from their staff (Kat). Recently, the Bliss team did the bridal hair for myself and 9 of my friends and family, and the whole team went above and beyond! Each of the stylists (Teri, Morgan, Carissa, and Chandra) took the time to listen to each individual and create something perfect to their unique style, with excellent execution. The hairstyles lasted the entire night, even with humid weather (90+ degrees in May) and a night on the dance floor. Worst hair cut ever! I guess I should have read Peg's comments below before coming to this place. Jess was my hair dresser (and a very pleasant young lady I must say) but she took literally only 20 min to cut and style my long hair. Left my hair completely flat, no style, just dried and let me go. She cut my ends nicely but otherwise, I looked like I had no haircut whatsoever, no layers, no style, just took an inch & 1/2 everywhere and was done. The worst experience I ever had at a hair salon. I told her I was not happy with the haircut but she didn't know what else she could do. I gave her a nice tip and told her I was not coming back here. I went home, washed my hair and styled it myself ... When I asked the owner to call me back, Teri took 3 days to call me just to defend her hairstylist completely and told me I was basically wrong and that she knows her stylists well and they do a good job. I had never been to Bliss before, so I decided to give it a try due to its location and pricing. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for, or not even so. I went in for a brow wax and was beyond disappointed. The woman doing my brows had a color process waiting in a chair, so it really felt like she was rushing, which I would have understood if she had explained anything or even established some sort of rapport with me. She applied the wax and then tore off the strip in the wrong direction, leaving all the hairs still on my brows. She asked me to take a look, and they were pretty much the same as when I walked in the door. She said she didn't want to "hurt" me by waxing underneath my brow, which should have tipped me off, but I told her to please wax those hairs (it's the reason I came in for the appt). I've had it done countless times; shouldn't be a problem. Well, I had a burn mark for almost 8 days that I had to eventually pull off in pieces. Also, I should mention the trimming of the brows was a bit botched as well - more of a horizontal angle than going in the direction of the brow. Let's just say, I was more than upset with the service and the overall treatment I received during this brow wax. The fact that I had to even pay for the service, when I could have done it myself at home (minus the pain), left me speechless. I will never go to Bliss again. read more

I've been going to Teri for three years now and have been pleased with every service I've received at Bliss. She is an amazing stylist who stays current with trends, pays attention to detail, is honest about what she thinks will or will not look good on you. I've showed her pictures of hairstyles on Pinterest and walked out looking like the model in the picture every time. I've never gotten a haircut that I couldn't style myself at home. There's nothing worse than going with a new style that only looks good when the stylist does it and you can't replicate it. When I've tried a new style, Teri has showed me step by step how's she's blowing out my hair and the types of brushes or irons she's using and I'm telling you it looks awesome every time! Her staff is very courteous. I enjoy having a nice cup of coffee while I wait for my color or highlights to set. It's just an overall pleasant, relaxing experience. One of the few times I can do something for myself and just enjoy 2 hours of pleasant atmosphere, nice conversation, and pampering. I also like how Teri gives back to the community by supporting local fundraising events. There's a real sense of community here.
