    The famous pickle sandwich!
    D M.

As others have said, this delightful little place offers a bunch of sundries and some delicious sandwiches. Had to get the sandwich made with a pickle instead of a bun, and it did not disappoint. Please see attached photo for a sense of its massive girth. Eating that bad boy took some work, but totally worth it. I ended up just sort of rubbing it all over my face, so get the extra napkins if you're going to brave it!

Best in the area by FAR! We had a platter of breakfast sandwiches which were amazing and then this glorious pickle sub I will dream about forever. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

We first discovered Blitz's when we used to pack 13 people into a 3 bedroom rental and needed to feed all of the hungry mouths. Back then it was a godsend to get a few Blitz Buckets of Fried Chicken. We could reduce those hot buckets in minutes to a pile of clean bones! All of the young kids would be happy with Blitz for dinner. Now the kids are grown anf it's three of us looking for sandwiches at Blitz's. And by sandwiches I don't mean wimpy Subs. I mean fresh meat-laden chunks with toppings sandwiches. You can get them customized how you like and on gluten-free buns if you wish. And you can still get chicken too. Pick up some chips and drinks and dinner is done!

Blitz's is the best place to grab a sandwich, and much more, before your beach trip! The store, on top of their amazing deli, has everything you could need! Chips, drinks, snacks, shirts, and other random stuff! I always stop in here before I head down to the beach. The staff is mostly very young and always generous! They are fast and making the food and always have a smile. My favorite is the buffalo chicken sandwich and fries, which is pictured below!

It's not an Ocean City family vacation without multiple trips to Kessel's! During our week at the…read moreshore, we visited Kessel's three times: takeout on our first night, ice cream mid-week, and an early dine-in dinner before heading home. As always, each of our three experiences this July were fantastic, with our last shining the most. We typically do take-out on night number one, and like in years past, the food is always ready on time and prepared as ordered. We ordered an array of items including Cheesesteaks, Chicken Caesar Wrap, Burgers, Grilled Cheese, Fries, and Onion Rings. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The line stretched around the side of the building the night we stopped for ice cream, but it moved quickly. Staff efficiently took orders, prepared cones and sundaes, and kept the line moving despite the large crowd. While take-out is always great from Kessel's, I will always prefer dining in! You really can't beat the old-school diner vibes and decor, and the service is outstanding. Julia, our server, did an incredible job with our party of 7. She was highly attentive, frequently checked in, and really added to our experience. My Cheesesteak Hoagie with hot peppers may have been my favorite thing I've ordered from Kessel's to date, but it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. The burgers and wraps are also solid choices. I also ordered a fresh Peach Sundae and I highly recommend! Julia even made my sundae herself in addition to waiting tables, and it tasted every bit as good as it looked. Absolutely picture-worthy! Kessel's is a cash-only establishment, but for seven people--including sandwiches, burgers, wraps, multiple orders of fries, and a few desserts--the total was just over $100. That's an incredible value especially at the Jersey Shore. Kessel's will always be a staple of our family vacations and continues to be a highlight for our nieces. If you've yet to experience breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just an ice cream sundae from this adorable, little, retro-feeling diner, please pay them a visit. I think you'll be glad you did.

It is normal to find oneself with a peculiar sense of being without time, and being within a coca-cola controlled dimension between ours and that of our forebears. It is crucial that you ignore any compunction to run screaming out the front door and onto the streets of Ocean City. I assure you, they are not there. What you see through those windows is an illusion to illicit comfort in your mortal mind. In actuality you have been removed to an extra-temporal imposition of Americana-kitsch. Once you have reconciled this fact and cleansed yourself of any unclean thoughts you may proceed to your booth, where you will order one cheeseburger and one strawberry milkshake. It is important that you order only these two items, as ordering any others will upset the delicate harmonics that weave our world with it. You will enjoy them. You will Pay. Was a bit awkward with the couple ordering next to us and it took a bit to understand the flow of information. You also pay via the screen which is very easy. Very little to no human contact. A person behind the counter did greet us and I guess could have been asked questions if needed. If the place was busy the self ordering could be a problem. We ate in, the place is kind of shabby but appeared clean. I cleaned our table with some spray I found on a back counter. I didn't see anyone cleaning tables. One minor annoyance, the napkins are single ply and do not hold up well to the clean up from eating g a pretty messy juicy burger. We must have used 20 napkins, a good two ply napkin would have been preferred. We will definitely be back the next time we have a burger craving.

Wjat was upsetting is that we noticed they are now adding hidden costs to your meal. I had a steak sandwich with onions and peppers. They charged me $2 for onions and $2 for peppers, adding an extra $4 for the meal. The added cost was not indicated on the menu, nor did the server disclose it. Another person changed out their two slices of standard toast for a slice of whole grain. That was a $1 added charge. Visitors should check their bills closesly since Varsity Inn seems to now want to add a charge for any little thing. The following night, I had a hamburger at another restaurant, and there was not an added charge for onion. Looks like we'll go elsewhere so we don't get hit with added, hidden charges.

I stopped in for dinner around 6:15 PM and, as always, the atmosphere was welcoming. There's indoor seating, a full bar, and a fantastic outdoor space complete with games, a fire pit, and one of the best music playlists in town--often accompanied by live entertainment. It's the kind of place where locals and visitors naturally mix together, creating a fun and friendly energy. One thing that always makes me smile is the sign when you walk in explaining that the bartenders and servers may be outside and asking guests to let them know they've arrived. Honestly, who could blame them? With the fresh salt air coming off the Atlantic Ocean and the outdoor atmosphere they've created, it's exactly where I'd want to be too. Tonight I ordered the crab cake platter, served with garlic French fries and coleslaw. The crab cakes were very good, packed with flavor, and the fries were crispy, garlicky, and absolutely delicious. A simple meal done right. Everything was fresh and appealing, I eat small portions so I took one crab cake and some fries home with me. I did ask about dessert, nothing was available, I don't do sweets frequently, I'm surprised they don't request Momma Chocolate, at Bar32 to make some extras for days they are closed. My server, Bella, was upbeat, bubbly, and attentive throughout the evening, adding to an already enjoyable experience. Parking is easy, with both free and paid options nearby, plus curbside access. Whether you're a local looking for a regular hangout or a visitor exploring beyond the casinos, Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall is well worth the short walk from the Boardwalk.
