Chicken sandwich
John H.

Another perfect lunch at Kessel's. All three ~8 inch sandwiches we had were excellent and just the right size for lunch. Service is always the absolute best here; that never fails to be the case.

Crispy Chicken Cesar Wrap. Pickles were very nice and fresh. 10/10

Great food. Quick service. Good hospitality. Annoying they only take cash but food makes up for it. Home feel in the restaurant.

Tuna Salad Platter

Been coming to Kessel's for years when we come and visit family. The food never disappoints, the service is always spot on perfect and the SWEET TEA is beyond amazing! We always take some to go! We come during peak and off season, and the vibe is always the same with the owner always doing the cooking!

buffalo chicken cheese steak

Adorable place and pretty good food, but I think people like the ambiance more than anything - red decor, cute staff uniforms, and old fashioned vibes. My roast beef (store made) was fabulous! Joey liked his chicken salad hoagie, but said it was a bit dry (not enough mayo only reason). My daughter didn't like her burger - said "meh." My son LOVED his buffalo chicken cheese steak! Cash only, but I knew prior. Good prices.

The red and white ice cream sundae I ordered.

Easy and convenient for locals. It's basically junk food for kids. Nothing to write home about.

Very good cheesesteak! It's been awhile and I'm a huge fan of Cooper Sharp cheese now. Portion was great and Mr. Patroni was very nice.

Food was great, service was great, the atmosphere is charming but a limited menu and cash only with paper plates isn't always what you want.

We were seated immediately at the open bar, which was a great start to the day! The service was truly first class. When they realized they had run out of milk for my granddaughter, they didn't just apologize, they actually ran to the store to get more! That level of care and customer service was above and beyond. Friendly staff, great energy, and exceptional hospitality all around. We'll definitely be back!

Wjat was upsetting is that we noticed they are now adding hidden costs to your meal. I had a steak sandwich with onions and peppers. They charged me $2 for onions and $2 for peppers, adding an extra $4 for the meal. The added cost was not indicated on the menu, nor did the server disclose it. Another person changed out their two slices of standard toast for a slice of whole grain. That was a $1 added charge. Visitors should check their bills closesly since Varsity Inn seems to now want to add a charge for any little thing. The following night, I had a hamburger at another restaurant, and there was not an added charge for onion. Looks like we'll go elsewhere so we don't get hit with added, hidden charges.

Located…read morejust off the Boardwalk on Tennessee Avenue, it perfectly captures the laid-back beach-town vibe that makes this neighborhood so special. Great for a solo diner or a group or family. I stopped in for dinner around 6:15 PM and, as always, the atmosphere was welcoming. There's indoor seating, a full bar, and a fantastic outdoor space complete with games, a fire pit, and one of the best music playlists in town--often accompanied by live entertainment. It's the kind of place where locals and visitors naturally mix together, creating a fun and friendly energy. One thing that always makes me smile is the sign when you walk in explaining that the bartenders and servers may be outside and asking guests to let them know they've arrived. Honestly, who could blame them? With the fresh salt air coming off the Atlantic Ocean and the outdoor atmosphere they've created, it's exactly where I'd want to be too. Tonight I ordered the crab cake platter, served with garlic French fries and coleslaw. The crab cakes were very good, packed with flavor, and the fries were crispy, garlicky, and absolutely delicious. A simple meal done right. Everything was fresh and appealing, I eat small portions so I took one crab cake and some fries home with me. I did ask about dessert, nothing was available, I don't do sweets frequently, I'm surprised they don't request Momma Chocolate, at Bar32 to make some extras for days they are closed. My server, Bella, was upbeat, bubbly, and attentive throughout the evening, adding to an already enjoyable experience. Parking is easy, with both free and paid options nearby, plus curbside access. Whether you're a local looking for a regular hangout or a visitor exploring beyond the casinos, Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall is well worth the short walk from the Boardwalk. Highly recommended for good food, cold drinks, great music, and some of the best local vibes in Atlantic City.

They also have a great $25 dinner special on the weekends, however we weren't looking to eat that heavy. But the live music on weekends at 7pm brought me in without the specials. We started with a down East blackberry cider $8, and a wanderback Hugo pilsner $7. We took our time sipping slowly while the band's set up and began to play. I think our server was more eager for us to make a food order than we were to eat yet. But when we finally did order, we chose a Tennessee Avenue tycoon salad and the "Phish" grilled fish tacos on corn tortillas. The salad was fresh but ordinary, with grilled chicken, blue cheese, egg and bacon. Spouse opted for some sort of orange dressing instead of the normal avocado dressing, perhaps it was the same one I loved on the fish tacos, a chipotle aoli. The Phish tacos were on soft corn tortillas that needed more time on the flat grill with a little oil to crisp them up! The fish was nice and white with good sized pieces in each taco. The cabbage slaw inside was wet, mashed avocado and so was the aoli, so a little gloppy but good even if it fell apart. These tacos are normally served with a side of chips, so I asked what options I had besides potato. Our server happily volunteered a grilled vegetable side which I loved until I found out it was an $8 upcharge of which he didn't inform me when ordering. That's an extreme amount, for not advising the customer prior. We stayed for a second round, I had another blackberry cider because it was delicious. Spouse switched to the Blue Horizon Kolsch, but apparently it was high test because it was $10. It was a lovely evening but, room for improvement. The band was fantastic, played all our favorites and we stayed a lot longer as a result of the great weather and the lovely picnic tables in the "garden". The beer hall has done a great job making this a fun hangout!
