I was looking forward to visiting Hank Sauce. I enjoy their sauce and rub as it's sold virtually everywhere. And after reading the reviews on this I was really anticipating a good (and hopefully great) meal. Unfortunately they missed the mark. I arrived a few minutes before open so was able to be first in line (there were already three to four people behind me at 12:00pm). I ordered Hank's Famous Buffalo Chicken Dip which was described as having: shredded chicken folded between layers of our secret multi-cheese blend - dusted with panko, drizzled with Thai Chili sauce, and baked to golden perfection - served with tortilla chips. I thought the Thai Chili sauce was a strange addition, but I decided to go for it. There was a large portion of the dip that seemed to be missing the panko, was very runny and really wasn't much to be excited about. The Thai Chili was really what ruined it. A bad combination. And to add insult to injury the chips are some of the worst, bland, bottom of the shelf in a grocery store chips. The wings were something that I was looking forward to as they were described to me as "double baked in the oven" and seasoned with their rub (which is a great rub). I should've trusted my instincts on this one as well...if you double fry a wing you can achieve a very crispy exterior. If you double bake a wing you can do this as well, but you need to cook them a bit longer. What I received were six (quite large) wings, that you could see the rub on, but on the rubbery skin it was nearly absent of the Hank's Heat sauce I had requested. I didn't opt for the $1.50 upcharge for Blue Cheese on the side and am glad I didn't. The rub was good but they would've been better had they been cooked until the skin at least rendered some and there had been sauce. Finally, the Hawaiian Pork Tacos: Hank-A-Q pulled pork, mango salsa, monterey jack cheddar, arugula, and strawberry reduction drizzle served on warm flour tortillas with chips. Theses came fairly close to the description. I'm not sure if they should have had a sauce or they just got cute with the "Hank-A-Q" name but they only had the "strawberry reduction drizzle" which paired with the mango salsa was cloyingly sweet. The pork was shredded and flavorless, at least the arugula gave it some sort of edge...also the corn chips were an unnecessary addition. The staff were polite but the food was far from anything I would consider good. Their portions are large so maybe that drives some to give higher ratings. They should stick to sauces, because they do those very well. read more

Good little local spot. Nice variety completely of options to please the whole group. They tend to get busy, especially during summer, and weekends, so plan ahead. This place is awesome, and perfect for the shore. Been coming here for years and every trip, I leave super satisfied. I have had most of the menu but find myself going back to the Rasta Willy as it's become "ol reliable" for me. I will also recommend the Buffalo chicken dip - sounds pretty standard but they drizzle some sweet/hot chili sauce on top, which I would never consider to do but it hit just . Food was amazing, service/communication could be better. We ordered online, but had a bit of a challenge picking up. My husband had to drive over 2x due to poor communication, and even after waiting there it wasn't the best experience. We understand offering take out can be challenging, especially in the summer when everyone is on vacation. We had no problem with a long wait, we just wish they had a better system in place for alerting people on how long orders will take and when they are completed. The food was delicious! Decided to go here when the other place we wanted stopped serving food. It's a cute place. We were lucky to get a sidewalk table since they only have two. It's all take out. Not sure about delivery. I had the portobello melt. Delicious but messy. The BBQ sauce was really good. Roll was fresh. My dining partner had the Hank burger and was very pleased. A little spicy. They have a pretty decent sized menu with a lot of choices. I'm limited because I can't handle spicy food and I'm allergic to mango. Solid beach vacation food. Everything from scratch and super tasty. Burgers were a big hit. Wings were stellar. We had other things (quesadillas and a few other things) that were good because of the quality of the ingredients. Ordered takeout for a family gathering and it was a 1.5 hour wait so I'm glad we ordered before everyone was hungry. The shop is pretty small with a few tables inside, definitely geared towards carry out. Everything came as ordered and the food was great overall. The wings were well sauced and very meaty all around. Chicken tacos were delicious but needed a bit more flavor IMO. I've been a fan of the hot sauce for many years, so I was excited to finally make it to the restaurant! To start, our server was great! She was extremely helpful and patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted. She brought over many sauce samples in addition to what was already provided on the table. The menu had a ton of options so there really is something for everyone. The food was delicious! The shrimp skewers with the hank-e-cue (their homemade bbq sauce-sweet and tangy) sauce was a great starter. A friend and I shared the Philly cheesesteak tacos and pulled chicken tacos. Both were great. The cheesesteak tacos had the steak very well cooked and topped with gooey cheese. The chicken tacos paired well with the hot sauces. We did order chips and guacamole on the side and it was a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad, just not as good as the rest of my meal (I'm probably being a guac snob!). She told me that my order was shipped when it wasn't. (Got the proof when I finally received my package many weeks later.) The only thing I expect from a business is honesty. Apparently they have a problem with people ordering to-go and then sitting down in the restaurant. I think Hank needs to make up their mind if they are one or the other. Worth a detour stop to Sea Isle City while driving to the Wildwoods. My roommate from college's buddy owns the company and have loved the standard Hank sauce since 2012. I enjoy their food even more. Usually I'll order a cheesesteak with Hank sauce and just devour it, but this time I decided to try something new. I ordered the Island Tuna Burger (new for 2020) and I ordered a gem. Have to throw some love at Hanks, they have been a bit of a newcomer in Townsend's - and I haven't been entirely happy about alot of the changes over the years. I have to say, this year they have changed my mind - and I love them, they are a welcomed part of our community as far as I'm concerned. The food and sauces here are seriously good. The people here are really nice. This is a very difficult time - and I thank God for them, things here right now are very challenging for everyone. Right now the grocery stores have nothing and you can get gormet bbq from Hanks at a reasonable price I can't get over how really good the food and BBQ and sauces were - blown over! This place doesn't look like much, but their sauces have been an integral part of my life for a while now, so I was really excited to go. The first thing I ordered was a buffalo dip, which was really sweet, and not at all what I expected, but I kinda enjoyed it. Then came the chicken wings. Those were amazing! That said, they were hot. Like, really hot, and I eat a ton of hot stuff all the time. I wasn't deterred though. I finished the whole order, because there is something specially good about baked wings that no other wing can match. It was worth it. My only advice is to be aware that the spicy food in this place is actually spicy. I appreciate that their habanero sauce is hot, not merely a single habanero diluted in honey. Still, the food is not too hot to be enjoyed, and it's not heat for the sake of heat. Flavor is there too, and the mild sauces are really mild, so there is a choice for everyone.
