I booked a blowout for my daughter today because she has her senior portraits coming up. She brought in an inspiration photo that clearly showed the style she wanted: sleek and smooth at the top with soft waves and curls from the mid-lengths to the ends. When she arrived, the salon door was locked and it appeared to be closed. A few minutes later, someone came to unlock the door and let her in. After washing her hair, they reviewed the inspiration photo together and began the service. Unfortunately, when my daughter came home, her hair looked nothing like the inspiration photo. It was completely straight with only a slight bend at the ends. No curls or waves were added--not with a round brush during the blowout or with a curling iron or other hot tool afterward. It looked like a basic straight blow-dry that I could have easily done at home. The service cost $100, which makes the result even more disappointing. We paid for a styled blowout based on the inspiration photo, but what she received was not even close to what was requested. For that price, I expected the stylist to either recreate the look or communicate if it wasn't achievable. Overall, I'm very disappointed with both the quality of the service and the value. Don the owner/ manager is the main reason I no longer feel comfortable booking this place. He is incredibly rude to his staff and he is extremely unprofessional. The last time i decided to book a blow out i arrived I waited about 10 minutes and got seated right away. The woman who was doing my hair was sweet and was doing a great job. A few minutes later Don arrived, he approaches me out of no where and yells what time did you come in! I then let him know what time i arrived for my appointment. I explained that my hair is short now 12 years later and I no longer have extensions. He asked me if I knew a certain person from Sierra Canyon School, I said no. (Very odd) Then he said if I come in and they look at my hair and decide they can't do my hair, I'll be turned away. I have shoulder length mixed curly hair that DryBar does in 30 minutes. Don proceeded to tell me that the stylist I was assigned Nazeli could not do my "kind of hair" and that I would have to come in earlier to be with Selma. I said I would try and he said there is no try, you either do or you don't and if you don't he will charge my credit card. He then said "I'm canceling your appointments because I'm the owner and can do what the f*** I want to do" The hung up on me. I was speechless. The phone number that called me was from Eric Abbe but if Don is truly the owner, he is the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered. This place is very similar to dry bar and is closer to my house. They took me in right away. I got Laura as my stylist and she is awesome! She used her nails on my scalp while shampooing me which I love! It was so relaxing. She washed it squeaky clean. I have been getting my blow out here since last year and I always leave with incredibly voluminous and beautiful blow out and that's within an hour, you get a really deep cleaning hydrating shampoo and conditioner.
