I reached out to Block after seeing all the good reviews on Yelp/Google about working with Sean and Ava. This review is not about them. Instead of Sean or Ava, I was assigned to work with Jeff Nunez. After our initial call, Jeff did not respond to emails in a timely manner. I submitted an application and requested documents from the checklist and never heard back. I asked for loan quotes and didn't hear back about that either. Other lenders I spoke to always replied within one business day without the need for an email followup. Jeff did not respond to my email or the followups, which was an instant elimination in my book. Block Financial may have been able to offer better rates (who knows, Jeff never got back to me!) but the customer service was simply subpar. I needed a loan officer who was responsive and could overcome any potentially urgent issues that may arise with closing. Jeff didn't demonstrate that he could be that loan officer for me. My recommendation if you must work with this broker: avoid Sean and request Sean or Ava instead. read more

When looking to buy our first house, like everyone we did a lot of research on trying to find the right mortgage broker. We stumbled across Bloch Financial and what a blessing it was. It took what can be a very stressful process and made it simple, quick and effective. Sean and his team were everything we hoped. He walked us through all the process and answered all our questions no matter how simple, complicated or repetitive with the same sincerity and professionalism that you hope for. Being first time house buyers we had a lot of questions but he walked us through the whole process and stayed in contact through the whole process. Not only did we get a great rate with a good company but we managed to close in an exceptionally fast time. Sean and his team delivered on everything they promised and we couldn't have been happier. He made himself readily available and we couldn't have asked for a better broker. However this wasn't the end of the story. Following significant movements in the lending rate a year later we found ourselves refinancing. Before I could reach out to him regarding the lower rates he had reached out to me and provided me with some options and said if I was interested we could get it going. We were able to refinance to another great company at a sizable lower rate. Once again Sean waked is through all the steps (this being our first time refinancing) and answered all our questions of which there were a lot especially surrounding some of the terms and what was needed. We successfully refinanced in short order and took advantage of the market at that point in time. Our closing costs were lower than most and Sean worked hard to get us what we needed with the kind of mortgage company we wanted. I can't recommend Sean and his team enough. I contacted Sean to get pre-approved for a loan. I figured since he scored so high on yelp, what can go wrong? Con: (1) NOT prompt with emails or phones. I had to leave him two messages at times over two days. His assistant Ava wasn't too efficient either, which is not a good thing when you are trying to buy a house. (2) It took him over 1-2 weeks to figure out whether or not we would get pre-approved for a loan. (FYI: I had no problem getting pre-approved elsewhere) (3) They couldn't even get my employment verification done properly. After giving them a month to figure things out, I just gave up on them and went with another mortgage broker. Sean never called to update me on the application process. I should have known that there is NO ONE on yelp who can score all five stars. No one is this perfect! read more

I've personally been through nearly a dozen mortgages and refinances plus I've been close to a dozen more of friends and family. I've worked with a handful of brokers and before I met Sean, I am fortunate that I've never been screwed but none of the other brokers were that great either. Since I started working with Sean, he has helped me on one primary mortgage, 2 refinances, and I've given him 4 referrals to family members. He is, beyond question, one of my trusted vendors in life and also a friend. After all these transactions, I've learned that when working with mortgage brokers, there are 3 things to consider. First, pricing. Second, the intrinsics such as honesty/integrity/knowledge. Third, ease of interactions. I'm going to review Sean on these three dimensions. 1. Price: quite frankly, I believe any decent mortgage broker has access to the same lending opportunities so I don't think this is differentiating for anyone. Having said that, I always compared Sean's quotes to national averages and they were always inline. 2. Honesty/Integrity/knowledge: although IMO all brokers have access to similar lending opportunities, they can choose how they present it/package it for you. With Sean, there is NEVER a doubt that you are getting the best deal. He is smart and experienced which enables him to source and identify the best deals and he always keeps the customer's needs above his own -- that's honesty & integrity. 3. Ease of Interaction: Financing is not an easy process. It takes a while and markets can shift, your situation can change...needless to say, it can be rough. When you are dealing with that, what you really need is a broker who is in it with you and Sean is that guy. He is persistent without being pushy, kind without being a pushover, and he never gives up. Okay, Sean is great -- I've established that. Beyond Sean, however, he has an experience support team that also helps him execute . He also has deep relationships in the industry which allows him to pull off a miracle from time to time -- I've been on the receiving end and I'm still grateful.
