There is a new foot bridge there now parallel to Rodman which leads out to Connecticut Ave through an alleyway (the trail continues on the east side of Connecticut leading into the main part of Rock Creek Park). Due to its limited size it seems to be generally quiet. Not a bad place to take a short stroll or as an alternate to walking on Connecticut Ave if you just want to escape into the woods for a moment.

The Font Hill Wetland Park is a wooded area around ponds and a stream. There's a well-used…read moremostly-paved path about 1-mile-long, a small wooden boardwalk and two wooden bridges. What we like the most is that this park supports quite a variety of wildlife. On a recent visit (May 2026), we saw a deer, an egg-laying snapping-turtle, and even a hummingbird! It is said that on the summer it has the highest population of dragonflies in Howard County MD :-) Many folks walk here during open hours, between sunrise and sunset. Dogs on leashes are allowed (with cleanup). You'll see us here more than weekly! This is an active park with lots of watchful neighbors. You can enter from Centennial Lane, or Font Hill Drive where there's free on-street parking.

It doesn't have a lot to do inside. It looks like a place to cut through pretty much. There's a statue of Key at the entrance, which is the most notable thing. It's considerably noisy. This isn't a quiet spot. You here all the traffic. It's not a good place for kids. There's no playground. It does inspire you a bit. Oh say where's that Star Spangled Banner writer's park at? On the land by the bridge, and the home of the big rat.

Pershing Square Park has seen a few renovations over the years. In typical downtown DC fashion, this park highlights design elements embracing stone and water displays. Pershing Square Park is home to both the WWI and General John Pershing memorials. The space is part plaza, amphitheater, and park. The plaza, incorporating designs from developer M. Paul Friedberg, highlights an amphitheater-style seating, green space on the exterior of the park, and a central sunken pool basin. Erected is a life-size portrait status of General Pershing. The park's transformations over the years is a part of a long-term plan to renovate the NW Pennsylvania Avenue corridor, which aside from a few landmarks, federal buildings, and commercial businesses closing when downtown DC commuters leave work for the day, is a relatively uneventful thoroughfare in the heart of downtown DC. And much of which is due to the better developed and tourist-attracting Constitution and Independence avenues along The National Mall. Pershing Park is conveniently located and adjacent to Freedom Plaza and within short walking distance to the White House, Ford's Theater, fine restaurants and hotels, and of course The National Mall. During the day, the park is beautiful, however, at night the park is a spectacle. The water displays, memorial lighting, and backdrop of the well-lit Willard Center, Washington Monument, and Washington Hotel are the perfect setting for a date night itinerary, evening stroll, or a destination to simply relax after an eventual day on The Mall. If you're visiting DC or are a local looking for a no-cost destination to add to your itinerary, certainly Pershing Park is a must-visit.

The new Pershing Park looks snazzy, but I'm not really convinced of its use. It is billed as a WWI…read morememorial, and the Great War is a strangely forgotten piece of our history, but this spot which most people have always walked by isn't likely to change that. It has a few general sentiments, but compared to our other numerous memorials I didn't really get a sense of who fought the war. On a more practical level, the square at the center was partly overflowing with water in a way that didn't appear to be an intentional part of the overall waterworks, the seating was limited, and there are no facilities in sight. I wish we had a great WWI memorial. But this little square of theoretically very important real estate right near the White House still doesn't seem to be a destination.

Mhew! This park has a decent camp ground for a nights sleep before hitting the road. Camps are very…read morenear to each other and it's very open where the six campsites near you can literally see you pick your nose so don't go doing that and eating it. Bathrooms are mediocre because I've definitely seen worse. They do have a caretaker onsite 24/7 who drives around every hour but he can probably just see everyone from his camp setup. I'd only stay here again for a quick nights rest and go. I wouldn't recommend this for a family camping trip and I certainly wouldn't stay a few days. A shady character cooked something in the fire pit near me (unoccupied site) then left. This entire neighborhood seems to have shady humans so if you're scared of the strange occupants that dwell in city life, just steer clear of Greenbelt, MD altogether. It doesn't bother me but I'm also just passing by, not having a family outing here.
