The walking trails are well maintained and both bikers and walkers are friendly! This is an amazing park. With indoor tennis, indoor pool as well as outdoor tennis, and outdoor pool. A water recreation area. Soccer fields and baseball/softball diamonds as well as a huge picnic area. This part has something from everyone! It was windy while i was walking in the park. But, the people were still out watching their kids play soccer! In that area there is a large play boat with a slide, a ramp, a wheel, a couple of climbing points ,and a few bouncy animals and stationary animals as well. It was hard to determine all the semantics of the park given that we visited when it was snow covered. The entire surfacing is rubber which is nice. The larger play area is a treehouse theme with a few different slides, a bridge, and a few various climbing ropes. There are plenty of picnic tables for warm weather and Theresa parking lot. A little trail also circles around the playground area. This is a really nice park: however, we only visited due to an appointment in the area. I don't think I'd venture here without another errand or such to tend to in this area.

Nearby are trails through the forest, some that lead to hills. There's also a wide dirt path that leads straight to the C&O Canal (without a place to cross to the actual trail).

Additional info below." *end dislclaimer* While I have been to Blockhouse Point Park previously, it had been a number of years. This past weekend I decide to take the trip with my gf and our dog. The actual place in which we parked was about half a mile further (than the address listed for this park) on the left. There is space for about 6 cars, and the large lot, about 25 cars. The trail which we took was the Blockhouse Trail. It was quite easy with only a little bit of incline/decline throughout. Signs clearly mark the trail, which is about 2.5-3 miles round trip. Various other trails intersect and a short detour can be taken. The blockhouse trail leads to two awesome Potomac river overlooks. It was summer, so obviously there are lots of leaves on the trees. Even so, the views were spectacular. You are right above the Canal and have a nice view of VA and the river. If you are looking for something fun for a few hours that is off the beaten track and has great scenic views, this is the place for you.

Some friends and I went for a hike on a Sunday morning and while the website says they might charge you a few dollars for parking, we didn't see anyone at the gate house and no one asked us. At the Ranger station, the bathrooms were very clean, quite warm actually, and there was a couple of interesting habitat exhibits. Just a really well run state park with lots of activities. They even had a station where you can get free firewood, and build a little fire.

Before deciding to go here, I'd like you to think about one word: RULES…read more This splash park has a LOT of them, and I do mean a LOT. You can't exit, even if you forgot something at your car. You can't bring in water bottles with water in them. No jewelry or even an Apple Watch on the slides. I forgot my phone in the car, and was only allowed to get it when the manager escorted me. The workers were nice enough about enforcement, but it all got a little tiring after awhile. This is a municipal park, not DisneyWorld. Chill. As for the park itself, it's fine. A big (not particularly deep) pool, surrounded by 3 slides (one for tykes, another for under 7, and the grandaddy of them all, which is towering). There was plenty of space for sitting and umbrellas. The bathrooms are clean, the pool and slides are well maintained and there are lifeguards everywhere. The water is ice cold, and there are vending machines. Outside food is allowed (maybe this is just due to covid, there was a grille but it was closed), but don't get cute trying to sneak in liquor because they do search your bags thoroughly. I get the sense the city really cares about this facility and treats it accordingly. But check beforehand. Weekends are for city residents ONLY. Nobody from outside MoCo is allowed in, and they will check your ID to confirm. For some reason, I was only charged $6 (the city rate) instead of $11 (I like in Silver Spring) so that admittedly influenced my rating. I might have been a but harsher (because rules) had I paid full cost. My kids (ages 9 and 12) got a bit bored after awhile, but for the price, this isn't a bad way to blow an afternoon.
