Before deciding to go here, I'd like you to think about one word: RULES. This splash park has a LOT of them, and I do mean a LOT. You can't exit, even if you forgot something at your car. You can't bring in water bottles with water in them. No jewelry or even an Apple Watch on the slides. I forgot my phone in the car, and was only allowed to get it when the manager escorted me. The workers were nice enough about enforcement, but it all got a little tiring after awhile. This is a municipal park, not DisneyWorld. Chill. As for the park itself, it's fine. A big (not particularly deep) pool, surrounded by 3 slides (one for tykes, another for under 7, and the grandaddy of them all, which is towering). There was plenty of space for sitting and umbrellas. The bathrooms are clean, the pool and slides are well maintained and there are lifeguards everywhere. The water is ice cold, and there are vending machines. Outside food is allowed (maybe this is just due to covid, there was a grille but it was closed), but don't get cute trying to sneak in liquor because they do search your bags thoroughly. I get the sense the city really cares about this facility and treats it accordingly. But check beforehand. Weekends are for city residents ONLY. Nobody from outside MoCo is allowed in, and they will check your ID to confirm. For some reason, I was only charged $6 (the city rate) instead of $11 (I like in Silver Spring) so that admittedly influenced my rating. I might have been a but harsher (because rules) had I paid full cost. My kids (ages 9 and 12) got a bit bored after awhile, but for the price, this isn't a bad way to blow an afternoon. read more

If your kids are decent swimmers, they're gonna hate this place. I thought based on the photos it would be a blast and it was quite the opposite. We had the same experience as other reviewers with the over the top rules and regulations. My 8yo wasn't allowed in the "deep" part (4 feet) of the pool unless I was also in a single arm's reach. He could touch -- water came a bit above his shoulders. He's a competitive year round and summer swimmer in all four strokes. I told the lifeguard he was a better swimmer than I was - didn't matter. Truly a bizarre place. The more shallow, splash pad areas were packed and crowded. The whistle blew every second for a lot of minor infractions. I understand the need for safety and not necessarily taking parents' words about swimming abilities - but this was unlike anything I'd ever seen. Why not instead establish a quick deep end/swimming test where kids can get a wristband if they pass like so many other pools do? My kids went down the slides a few times, but with my 8yo more or less having to stay tethered to me in the pool, he and my 11yo couldn't really play. I wasn't even planning on getting in the pool. We left after an hour and went to our neighborhood pool. There was nothing for them to do after going down the slides a few times, except for play in really overcrowded shallow areas. It was a huge waste of money. I almost never review things, but I wish I had seen more reviews like this before deciding to go. read more

This is a very strange place. Just to get in there you'd think you were boarding a plain: id required, no water bottles(!), no reentry (every amusement parks allow this!), bag checked. The workers are rude and completely over the top just to enter the water park. The admission is $12 for moco residents, yet this isn't really a water park. Just a pool with two slides. You would be much better off going to a county pool at a fraction of the price without dealing with obnoxious employee. A little customer service training is warranted. The kicker is my daughter who is 11 and has been on the swim team was mortified when the lifeguards came in and "saved" her. She was just swimming in the pool. Seriously. I'm really scratching my head over this one. Maybe the lifeguards have a quota of number of saves they have to make a day and try to drum up anything. Such a bizarre place!!! read more

Two incredibly fun water slides and a decent sized pool to swim laps in. It's great that it's next to a mini-golf course and skate park.

Water park looks deceptively "fun" but the restrictions and grumpy lifeguards are all about preventing FUN. Signs posted: no rough play, no breath holding, non-swimmers within parent's arm reach and one adult per child (yet when my swim-team kids jumped in the pool they were repeatedly whistled out). Instead of non-swimmers requiring supervision, the verbal policy is that anyone shorter than shoulders above water can't be in the water, which applies to most adults that aren't 5'10"" like me (including the manager who told me this) and truly defeats the purpose of a pool? The area was not marked with summer sounds of jubilation but rather constant whistle-blowing, snapping some poor kid plus all heads from whatever enjoyment they dared to have. No thanks, that's what school is for. Hire lifeguards who feel competent and send these whistle-happy kids HOME. Literally not one adult on staff to complain to, assuming an adult would have better judgment. read more

The people are great, and the atmosphere is fantastic. You can't bring a bottle of water or a bottle with tops. You could get food from outside, or they have a menu that you co his order from. It would help if you were a resident of Montgomery County, or else you won't be able to get in. I came with family who lives near there, but if you have family and friends who you could come in with, it's worth it. read more

Great public park with 2 duck ponds, a walking trail (inner loop is 1.1 miles), water park, and more. You can take classes at the fitness center. The gym itself has limited equipment, but $5-$6 for a drop-in rate isn't bad. The front desk staff were helpful and nice. I saw maintenance cleaning up the grounds outsider, including picking up litter from the playground. The walking path is beautiful this time of year and I'm jealous of those who live at the townhouses and apartments next door. read more

Bohrer Park At Summit Hall Farm - Pool - Parks Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

Bohrer park is a terrific place for a beautiful day. It's located right next to the Gaithersburg High School and the community center. It has a fantastic trail that I personally use for running, but many others use it for walking for a stroll with their small kids on bikes. Lots of large grassy areas to play with your kids or just be active. It's also a great place for dogs. From fishing, to pavilions for picnics this park is a nice little getaway in Gaithersburg. The only thing that I would change is the parking lot is quite small. There's plenty of parking within walking distance, but there's often not many spots on a nice day. read more

The staff is friendly, and the water is always a good temperature when I go in the evening. Locker rooms are clean, if small. The 4-story water slide is wild - I got up to at least 60 mph. I personally don't mind the rules against water bottles and re-entry, though they could be an issue for those who stay longer. I pay each visit; a membership is only cost-effective if you go all the time. A few suggestions: - Requiring swim caps for long hair would make the pool less, um, hairy. - Close at 8 instead of 7pm, especially on the hottest days. - Reserve 1 lane for all-day lap swimming; not everyone can go in the early morning. read more

The water park is kept up really well with tons of life guards on staff. You can bring in coolers, snacks etc and they do check your bags. I would suggest getting there early if you are looking to sit under a pavilion as the crowd tends to flock to those areas. Early as in before the park opens at 11am. read more

It was a very nice place, clean and the water wasn't freezing. I liked that the water was kid-friendly, no "deep end". Although I understood the reasoning (people sneaking alcohol), I did not like the rule that you can't bring any bottles or resealable drink containers. I had frozen water bottles just for this day trip and had to return them to my car. I did see a couple of people who managed to have thermos and cups with lids. ‍ I liked that they allow outside food and (canned) drinks. Some water parks only want you to buy their food. The vending machine was out of water and medically, that's all I drink. However, the staff was very accommodating and understanding and I was able to stay hydrated with no medical emergency. It was hot today lol. I would like to go back on a Saturday with the rest of my family but only City of Gaithersburg residents allowed on the weekends. Just listing everything on this post in case you are a first time visitor like I was. Overall, this is a nice place and I'd go back. Also, the life guards were very attentive! The park itself is very clean and the pool is well maintained . They have enough lifeguards for every citizen of Gaithersbug. On the other hand the rules must have been made by Scrooge himself. It costs ten dollars to enter even for a three year old. I had the bad luck to leave some important medicine in the car and realized it five minutes after we arrive. Since I couldn't leave my 5 and 3 year olds unsupervised I had to take them with me to the car. They tried to charge me an additional $30 to re-enter after being gone for thirty seconds. I refused to pay $60 for two tiny kids and myself and I dared them to eject me. They didn't. They also will not allow bottled water to be brought into the pool. Doctors and other health care professionals preach hydration yet this place won't allow water. Just crazy. I was told that the policy dates to a time when teenagers brought vodka into the pool in water bottles. Ok I'm not a teenager and I don't think my five year old would try that. Maybe someone with half a brain could devise a rule where sealed bottles would be allowed? Dept of Rec you need to eliminate these silly rules. read more

I looked on the website and called before arriving and it said that anyone could buy the water park and mini golf package on the weekends, but when I got there they refused to let me in even with my City of Gaithersburg address on a check. The staff at the desk to pay were incredibly rude and were reluctant to answer any of our questions about the guidelines. They also made us pour all of our water out way before we were even allowed to pay, so now we are leaving with no water and it was a huge disappointment. read more

This place is a madhouse. It is overrun with camp kids and understaffed with lifeguards. It is EXTREMELYdangerous- I couldn't believe how many kids they would allow in the pool! It is NOT a safe place to bring little ones or any child that isn't a strong swimmer. This place was OK. But get there when it opens b/c it's a ZOO!!!! People start lining up to get in at 10a for a 11a opening. I'm not sure I would EVER go here during the weekend again. While there are two places for larger and little kids, the little kids pool area wasn't heated at all! So the water was freezing. After about an hour, there were more bigger kids that were over the 48" height limit than little kids. There is a changing/bathroom in the little kids area. Not to sound elitist, but I think I feel more safer and things being in control at the Germantown splash grounds than at this park. A lot of people tend to come to this park and just camp out for the day. Seriously?!?! They do do a "cooler/bag check" before you get in (they don't do this at Germantown). Maybe checking for weapons or alcohol? I dunno. I can't see anyone spending more than an hour or so here. Lots of birthday parties going on too where people camp out and do cake and whatnot. Luckily, one of our friends lives in City of Gaithersburg, so they got us in at the $5.75/pp price not at the $12/pp price. There was a huge line to get in, and only one person selling tickets on a Sat. that was slower than molasses. There are also food and beverages available for sale here. I didn't get a chance to see what kinds of food and what prices. read more

The water park here is a fun place for the kids. We've been coming here for the last several years but likely won't be going this year. Nothing really to do with this place specifically but just that it doesn't really work for our specific needs/schedule. The things that I like about it are that we don't really have any intentions of the kids joining swim team and are just looking for a place for the kids to have fun. So unlike other places that have the breaks for adult swim or for giving lifeguards breaks, the kids never have to get out of the water if they don't want to. The price at the water park here is also cheaper than some of the other pools in the area but I guess part of the difference is that there's no swim team here. You're allowed to bring and use most toys there. I think they have a policy against some kinds of floatation devices but other certain ones are allowed(some of which is sold at their shop here). Some other nearby pools don't allow any type of floatation devices, even the type that some swim classes use to teach kids how to swim. But there doesn't seem to be that type of rule here. So there really an emphasis that this place is a water park, where kids can have fun. If you're a member or Gaithersburg resident you get to get in hour earlier before the pool opens to everyone. And these times are usually nice where it's basically just you and maybe a handful of other families having the place to yourself. Not to mention you can grab prime seating before the crowd gets there. Earlier in the season the water can be really cold at this time though. On special days like holidays, they also throw in a bunch of beach balls for people to play with. The staff are nice, friendly and attentive and have the system down whenever they spot trouble. Some issues I have with this place is that it can get crowded. Although from what I hear this is the case at most pools. The price is expensive if you're not a Gaithersburg resident. But the main reason for not joining again this year is that they close too early for our family on the weekdays, which is around 7 pm and doesn't work with our schedule. When I looked around last year I think the early hours may be due to them not having lights around the area. Haven't been there this year to see if that's changed. For our next pool, we hope to find somewhere we'd be able to go during the week too. Overall though it's a great time here. And if they had later hours during the weekdays, this would be our top choice for the pool to go to in the area. read more

This is a multi-purpose park. They have a little water park which is a pool with some slides. They have a miniature golf course. They also have a skate park which as a former skateboarder I found to be lacking in verticals, dude. There is a lot of green grass and a pond and some things they call pavilions. There are no ball fields. The place is a little hilly so to put a ball field would have required a lot of work. We went there to a party put on by the Honduran embassy celebrating the Honduran Independence Day. The event was awesome. It's a good place for a large event like this. There is plenty of parking. There are bathrooms which are necessary if you're going to have an all-day event. The grass is well manicured. They had some dudes walking around picking up trash which called my attention to the cleanliness of the place. I mean the place is spotless. It's a well cared for area. read more

This place is kept clean which makes it all the more attractive to bring the family. It houses one of Gaithersburg's rec centers, so there are classes available at a discounted rate for the residents of Gaithersburg. Tip: just having a Gaithersburg zip code does not mean you are a city of Gaithesburg resident. If your street sign does not have the Gaithersburg Tree logo on it, you are not a city resident. Knowing this ahead of time may prevent sticker shock. The building has several large gyms and side rooms for rent. A fitness center (decent size), and clean public bathrooms and changing rooms. If you're there to play miniature golf, you may end up sharing the course with a group who has rented out pavilions. Although there are rules for moving the folks thru the course, don't expect someone enforcing those rules. This is a family location and there's always someone with kids allowing their children to play on the greens who have not paid but are using the nearby pavilions. A good attitude to have is "children chasing the ball and stopping it from entering the cup just makes that hole more challenging." Swimming pool has some added pluses to keep it interesting but it will get crowded. read more

This low review rating has nothing to do with the facilities, just with the water park admission price policies. The water park itself is great and rivals any water park out there for the price of admission. My issue with the pricing policy is the following. We are a military family leasing a house in Gaithersburg. My wife has a Maryland license with the Gaithersburg address on it. At the entrance, we were told we were not residents? What?!!!! I asked why this was the case if her DL showed a Gaithersburg address, and the rep just answered, "we show that you are not a resident". I asked, do you make any exceptions for military families, and the answer was a stern "No". My guess is that because we lease a property in the city and are not paying property taxes, we are not considered residents. I can't think of any other reason (plus I wonder how they would even know that at the water park admission counter). Even by that reasoning though, does that mean every family renting an apartment or house in the city has to pay non-resident admission price???! Still not very friendly to Gaithersburg families. And very unfriendly to Military Families!!! I will probably return because of my kids, but I really think admission pricing policy needs to be reviewed. By the way, Resident admission is $5.75 every day, non-resident is $10 weekdays, and $16 weekends and holidays. Oh, and my 4 yr old was charged the full $10 price of admission as well (we went on a weekday). Maybe you should at least tier prices for adults and children. read more

This place is ok you can't bring a grill and they don't provide one for you. So you have to have just cold foods, you also can't bring water, I know water right it's hot as hell and they told me I can't bring water and that they have a water station for me to get water but it was only a water fountain smh no thank you I don't drink that kind of water so I was very upset about that I love water and I don't want it from a water fountain. This place is a great spot for small kids it has a kiddie pool that's off to the side from the larger kids at the bigger pool they do have two slides a white one for the little babies that are scared of a little excitement and the green one that is fast and shoots you though the slide like a rocket and you fall in the water about 4feet. read more

Took my 14month old on a Wednesday morning and had a memorable time. There are life guards at every turn vigilantly watching the kids. The bathrooms are cleaner than most pool restroom and changing rooms. While we were changing to go home someone have vomited in one of the stalls, the staff cleaned and disinfected the bathroom within minutes of the incident. Other reviews talk about the chairs and in my experience some chairs were pretty worn but some new ones are already being utilized. Could be a budget issue, but who is really lounging in chairs while their toddlers are in the pool? Upon entering your bags are checked which to me is actually pretty great. Swim diapers can be purchased at the door and for $10 I had a blast. My only recommendation is going during the week, it was pretty busy as is I couldn't imagine weekends. Only dislike you must pay full admission price to reenter the park if you choose to leave for any reason. Overall: -clean -friendly staff -plenty of lifeguards -reasonably priced -you can bring your own food read more

This place is pretty fun with the kids. We made the mistake of coming during the weekend once and will never do so again. It was absolutely jammed packed which just made the entire day upsetting. Once we were fortunate enough to find a seat we had to defend our territory like a pack of wolves. We recently came back on a Monday and it was like night and day. We were even able to get a seat with pick-nick tables and cover for shade. The facilities are very clean and the prices for food at their snack bar were reasonable. I read in some other comments that they felt the pool is understaffed with life guards but I'm going to respectfully disagree. The guards were very professional both in the stands and the three we saw patrolling the edge of the pool, one of them even made a rescue on the slide with absolute speed and professionalism. read more

I stumbled upon Bohrer park today and plan to go back soon! I'm new to the area and was looking for a shady place to walk with my dog. The park has several ponds/watershed areas with loads of pond life. These are linked by paved paths. The paths are marked, so you can keep track of you distance if that's important to you. The park also has a bunch of shelter/picnic areas, a rec center, water park, skate park, mini golf course, volleyball courts and a playground. read more

This review is mainly for the recreation center. I did not seriously explore the water park, the miniature golf course, the skate board park, the play ground, or the pavilion today. But I did go to my granddaughter's volley ball games in one of the gyms. After sitting in the past through softball, soccer, and basketball games, with little parking, no shade, no convenient bathrooms, no seating, this place was like heaven. Plenty of parking. Clean facility with bathrooms. Two large gyms with bleachers. Climate controlled. There are also some meeting rooms in the center. After the volley ball games we did drive around a bit. There is an awesome pavilion area where there was a huge gathering of party-goers today. Lots of nice walking areas and play grounds. A mansion that might be available for events. Certainly worth exploring a bit more next summer. And thankful for bleachers, rest rooms and parking. Boy, have my expectations dipped! read more

We brought our 9 and 11 year olds here this summer. We made sure to go on a weekday so that they weren't as busy. There is only 1 concession stand, so the lines are long but the food is good. There are only really 2 big slides here but it was an absolute blast of a day and even us as adults would love to go again! Lots of room to swim too. Didn't think it would be as nice of a waterpark as it was. Other visitors are very rude here though, and children cut in lines the entire time so make sure your kids aren't getting pushed around! Definitely would come back here again, but only on weekdays! read more

Very nice play area for the kiddos. Open freshly cut grassy area for a blanket as i laid and watched the clouds. Ample parking and walking trails. Great area to spend hours. My boys even had a game of soccer going. It was awesome! read more

Love this place!! Most of the staff are somewhat young, maybe high school/college but are very friendly!! I came here with my wife and kids and we had a great time. The bathrooms are pretty clean and I had no problem finding a parking spot either. However I did go on a weekday so weekends may be more of a hassle but overall great place to spend a day out in the sun! read more

I took my 4 children to this water park and they had a lot of fun. Thought the day they went on the light green water slide and they told me "I thought I was going to suffocate." They also told me that the water was freezing. They enjoyed the food bar, they got a cheeseburger, small fries, funnel cake, and a smoothie. The tickets were reasonabley priced at $6 a tickets. The lines were to long for my children. We will come back again. read more
