Best place to go for flowers, period. Everything is beautiful, healthy, and colorful!! And so much less than other greenhouses. I've gotten so many compliments on my flowers already and I've only had them for a little over a week. I got three flats, a hanging basket, 3 spikes, 2 vinca vines, and a watering can planter full of flowers and I only spent $55.00. And the flowers are all vibrant and beautiful. Such deals. My mother lives in the area and talks about Blocks, but I didn't really understand the draw. I know now why she loves this place. Corn on the cob for 3 FULL bags for 5.00. Green beans, beets, plums, tomatoes.... Everything you could want. I will say this place is not for the faint of heart. It's best to know what you want, since there are lots of people with lots of carts. The check out counter is a very well organized system with multiple people processing your order. From what I hear the spring flowers are great deals, but like other comments-crowds can be overwhelming. If you are a canner or cook in bulk this is the place to get those fresh ingredients. It's too bad that the season in Michigan is so limited. This is also a great place to stop if you are killing time waiting to pick someone up from the airport. Great prices, open air produce and nursery store. Very helpful employees. We frequently visit there during spring for their wide variety of flowers, baskets and bushes. Then summer comes and that's when this place really lites up with incredible produce with unbelievable prices. THEY ALWAYS HAVE GREAT PRICES ON HUGE CORN. SO FRESH AND GROWN IN MICHIGAN, most of their produce is grown in the great state of Michigan. This echoes what a lot of others have said. The place is absolutely chaotic, but the deals can't be beat. I needed a bunch of annabelle hydrangeas to fill out the front yard. They were $40-50 near me at the places I checked. Went to Block's and they had larger, healthier looking ones for $23 each. Also picked up some vegetables and perennials, all at amazing prices. They don't have the greatest selection of perennials, but I can deal. The employees I talked to were really friendly and helpful in spite of the chaos. Only thing I would say is they need to get more flatbed carts! It's a competition trying to get one and someone will definitely follow you to your car if you do score one. read more

If you are over 60 or compromised in your health do NOT go to Block"s. I drove 35 miles to get there for the 8-9 a.m. hour. IT WAS PACKED. The majority of the people shopping then were way under 60. No one was staying 6 feet apart. No one was following the arrows showing you which way to walk. No one from the store was sanitizing carts. No one from the store was limiting the number of people walking in. No one from the store was standing at the entrance making sure all patrons were wearing masks. (However, I only saw one woman not wearing one.) I usually do not write bad reviews but it was a very frightening experience. Why did I stay, you may ask? I drove from so far. I didn't realize it was this bad until I got a little further into a greenhouse. I was extremely cautious and looked around me constantly. I did not stay nearly as long as I had planned. read more

I have yet to go anywhere in the metro area and talk to a person who has not shopped at Blocks. I don't make weekly trips there, but I make at least once while greenery and pretties for the outdoors are available, and once more when vegetables are SUPER cheap. I guess that's what I like about Block's the most. When they're priced to sell, it's no joke. Very often I will get a whole new garden scheme based on what's on clearance. Wonderful place for plants and flowers! However, the unpleasant gentleman standing out front loading bags of soil/manure so completely rude I may never go back. He stands out there YELLING to customers who have already paid " driver stay in the car"... Over and over until people have no choice to look over to see what's going on. I've been coming here with my mother and grandmother (RIP) for as long as I can remember and have been going for my own produce for about a year now. This place is fantastic!! They have crazy low prices on their fruit and veggies. The employees are really helpful and friendly. Also, if you go close to closing time, they have huge markdowns on their merch. In the fall, usually around late September thru Halloween, they have excellent prices on their pumpkins, apples, and apple cider. The pumpkins are usually 3 for $10 and HUGE. The place can get pretty busy on the weekends, but you just gotta have patience. You get through the lines fairly quickly. To speed up the process, I suggest you bring cash, although they do take credit and debit. I recommend this place to anyone who like fresh fruit and veggies! Always a great bargain! read more

My mom refused to ever move out of the state of MI, and Block's was always one of her main reasons. I'm a fruit and veggie addict... I'm also a college student; Block's is so affordable I can indulge and purchase all the produce I want without breaking the bank. If you want the freshest of the fresh go early in the morning. Highly recommended for any produce in season. Prices are about half of Kroger's in many cases. Their selection changes weekly. However they always have something you will want. The check-out lines look long at first, but they really move efficiently. Parking can be crowded, but that is a minor inconvenience. read more

Their prices are totally unbeatable; such good value for the money. It even beats gas prices to get there!! Their geraniums hanging basket arrangements were $7, which is a total steal (flats of annuals ran $7 as well, and iirc, single geraniums were around $3). It's too bad the weather's not right to plant yet, but I sure wanted to get a lot more flowers than the climate allowed for. Oh well, we'll just have to go back there--like that's gonna be a chore!!! Blocks was a nice one-stop-shop for Mother's Day gardening and I like that they have workers to put mulch and soil in your car for you. I am frustrated by the amount of plastic waste that this greenhouse generates. I tried to bring back my empty containers so they could re-use them, but multiple employees just told me they'd throw it away for me. Next time I need flowers or plants, I'll be going somewhere that is more aware of their impact on the environment. read more
