I prefer the Saturday farmer's markets in Farmington and Plymouth. Farmington is one of the best suburban farmer's markets on the west side of town. It is in a commercial area so it's livelier and there is more to do in addition to the farmer's market.

It is overall more expensive than other grocery stories, but presumably shopping here is supporting a local business and local farmers.

If I'm feeling like a snack Pilar's Tamales or Good Times Kettle Corn really hit the spot. The Brinary, Seedling (who I used to buy from when I lived in Chicago in their markets), and the Zingerman's creamery are all favorites. Not to mention all the beautiful fresh fruits and veggies. YES. Also--the parking lot rules. If it's too hot to bike or walk it's really nice to roll up and easily find a parking spot without having to pay a meter. It shouldn't matter but it totally does. What a find! This market is the perfect compliment to the Ann Arbor Farmers' Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Instead, it's in the late afternoon / early evening, which is a nice change, and has an easy location good for parking and on the west side of town. The market hosts about 20 local Michigan vendors, and Zingerman's is usually always outside sampling some kind of yummy goodness. There's a nice selection of fruits, veggies and flowers. I usually hit up this market every Thursday on my way home from work and almost never leave empty-handed. Rain or shine, the market is there.

Barb was so thoughtful and thorough, wanting to ensure the arrangement looked perfect for my parents. She was super sweet, was asking questions to make conversation as she worked, and also helped me find a card in the store while she was working. Her help was truly appreciated, and I'll definitely be back for more flowers in the future! The price was also great, and I was able to grab a vase too. While I was waiting, I grabbed some cupcakes from Tony Cannoli -- chocolate, bubble cake, and birthday sprinkles. All were very delicious, as always! Six cupcakes were $15 and our family ate every bite!

The last time I was there the market was on the south side of Michigan Ave. They had a decent selection of fruit and veggie vendors and a few baked goods and that was it. Now it's a great place to spend an afternoon and get nearly everything you need for your home. Eggs? They've got em. Meat? Beef, chicken, pork, lamb, even bison are all represented at one of the booths. Plenty of fruits and veggies, of course. Zingerman's is on hand with a lovely selection of cheeses and now--popsicles! Mosey on over to the Treat Dreams booth and get an ice cream from this Ferndale creamery, perfect for eating as you stroll around looking at some of the artisan vendors (bird houses! Lawn ornaments!). Still hungry? Grab a pastry and some of the local bakery vendors or a cookie (and a loaf of bread) from Avalon's booth. Or get a hot dog or some sausage from Binky's. Thirsty? How about a smoothie? While you're at it pick up some jam, some honey, or for something savory, how about some smoked fish? The new(er) space is perfect. Closer to the parking lots and there's plenty of room to wander and not feel crowded. Love the greenspace and if you want something a little heartier Buddy's is right next door so you can take your shopping bags and get some pizza on the patio. I love our Dearborn Farmer's Market…read more As a resident of Dearborn I wanted to encourage others who have not had a chance to make it out to the Farmer's market on Friday mornings to come on out. The market is located behind the Bryant Library 8:00 am - 1 pm until October 29th. In my opinion this weekly event represents the "best of summer" from the wonderful produce; peaches blueberries, tomatoes, zucchini, the list goes on and on. Farm fresh and you really can taste the difference. Fresh bread, my favorite Rheinland Quarkstuten... don't ask just try it! I have even seen organic meat and unique products that compliment the food you buy at the market. If your not hungry yet may I also say, Fresh Michigan Cherry juice to top it all off! Everyone at the market is friendly and ready to help. It is one of the highlights of my week to attend I am so glad a friend told me.
