She noticed my elderly father was having some difficulty, and without being asked, helped him with his plate, condiments, and getting settled. The rest of the staff was warm and helpful too, including the carver, who was friendly and welcoming. One thing that stood out to me as a guest, we saw a table leave a pretty big mess, and it was a reminder to all of us to make things a little easier on the staff by stacking plates and consolidating where we can. The location is on the north side of the Bloomer and it is across the street from a gas station/convenience store that is well stocked with items. The store even had distilled water that I forgot at home for my BiPap. Our room was clean and basic with a desk, small fridge, air conditioning, flatscreen with cable, and free WiFi which came in handy with my kids' iPads. The room was quiet and I never once heard any sounds from the occupied room next to us or sounds of people coming and going outside of our room. If I had to name one negative, it would be that the bathrooms' only had shower stalls and no bath tub. This was not an issue for my wife and me, but it made showering my two toddlers a bit of a challenge. However, we quickly adapted and it wasn't a problem. Over the years, I've stayed at many motels/hotels and to be honest, this is one of my favorites. This is not your Holiday or Ramada Inn. If your looking for something like that then this may not be a place for you. However, if you want a clean and cozy place to get a good nights rest that will not break the bank, then this is the place. I always saw the owner each morning working at the motel. He always said hello and each time had a smile on his face, which shows me that he takes pride in his business. I had 5 kids with me so if you were going to get crabby with a guest - it should've been me. One kid spilled an entire glass of apple juice everywhere ... then knocked ALL the utensils on the floor at breakfast (like 100 spoons, etc). The girl working the front desk was also manning the breakfast area, and she just pleasantly helped me clean it up with no issue. I will definitely stay in this location again.

Sadly, this isn't the first time my stay has been extended. I was once attending a blues concert at The Alley in Sanford, FL and witnessed a blues tragedy, which greatly affected my evening. The young gun guitar-slinger on stage was ferociously berated by the venue owner following some type of dispute after the show. I had been in the merchandise line to buy a new blues CD and was delayed by 10 minutes or so. I travel often for business and recreation.

You don't see incidental holds so much anymore but they're still doing it here and it's laughable given there's no bar or restaurant or bistro or coffee shop or beer or wine or alcohol to buy. It's just an interest free loan for them. They also really don't want you connecting anything to your TV either. It's affixed to the wall so you can't tilt it to see it while you're at the desk nor can you easily reach any of the HDMI inputs. Of six devices, only two connected to the wifi login; usually they all do. So to make the Xbox work, had to force the login with the IP address on another device, then use that device's MAC address on the Xbox. Easy for me but most people would have given up and that's the idea; I think. No breakfast sandwiches on the weekends for whatever reason even though you'll pay more for your stay those days.
