Been to Paradise Shores many times over the years. Sadly, this place seems to have gone down hill…read more Service is ok, but more recently rooms felt dingy and everything had bit of a run-down feel. Weirdly, if you hang out by the pool it seems like the demographic has changed. Before, there was a nice blend of generations--older adults enjoying a swim, as well as families with kids playing. Now, you only really see kids in the pool. I'm curious why older folks seemed to have stopped coming here as much... Haven't bothered to check out the bar on my last few visits to Holcombe so cant comment on that. Overall, looking to stay somewhere else on my next visit to Holcombe even if it costs a little more.

I took the owner and showed him all the slime and he told me it wasn't there yesterday, the day we checked in. Yes, it was I have pictures. And that much slime doesn't build up in one day. The breakfast was Lil Deb snacks and frozen pre-made cheese omelets and frozen waffles and yogurt from Walmat. I asked for a discount on my bill as the pool and hot tub were what we came up for and it's still on their registration page .And they told me they can't authorize it, they are the owners!! The owners were friendly, room was clean. We have been going up there nearly from the time it was built. It is now in a very sad state. So we had to paid 124.00 plus tax for a bed. If they had informed us when we made the reservation we never would have stayed.

The Quality Inn: A Case Study in Thermodynamic Failure…read more * The Atmospheric Conditions: The pool area isn't just a leisure space; it's a self-contained weather system where the ventilation has been "optimized" for profit, resulting in indoor glaciers that would make a National Geographic photographer weep. The poor air circulation in addition to saving money, is no doubt generating revenue for pharmaceutical companies treating all of the mold allergies. * The Biological Indicators: That signature "clean pool" smell is actually the olfactory evidence of a thousand local toddlers using the facility as a public latrine--a chemical reaction of chloramines that serves as a warning to anyone with an intact immune system. At $7 a local kid for a whizpool, it's surely a profit center, and you can certainly smell the difference. * The Culinary Experience: Breakfast consists of "food-like substances," specifically chunks of microwaved egg that appear to be weeping for their own existence and pork sausages swimming in a reservoir of grease and existential dread. * The Lobby Ambience: The computer station is guarded by a territorial child-in-residence who has seemingly aged into the upholstery over the last two years, ensuring that "tacky" remains the primary aesthetic. * The "Coffee": A beverage so weak and feeble it qualifies as a crime against humanity. It isn't brewed coffee in the way that we've all come to expect; it's a hot, wet insult served in a cup, located--fittingly--in a completely different room to distance itself from the concept of actual food. If you ever find someone whose teeth are on fire, and you are fresh out of urine, this coffee is a great substitute...

Prime rib, crab legs, lots of seafood, great salad bar. At 36 dollars per person with soft drinks included, very fair. Didn't try alcohol, so can't speak to that. But honestly, this is about the people. From the moment we arrived until the time we left, Desiree was on it. She wasn't just taking care of our table, she seemed to be everywhere, checking on guests, clearing tables, helping people, always with a great attitude. She noticed my elderly father was having some difficulty, and without being asked, helped him with his plate, condiments, and getting settled. The rest of the staff was warm and helpful too, including the carver, who was friendly and welcoming. One thing that stood out to me as a guest, we saw a table leave a pretty big mess, and it was a reminder to all of us to make things a little easier on the staff by stacking plates and consolidating where we can. Overall excellent food, outstanding value, but the customer service is what we'll remember. Desiree went above and beyond, and the whole team made our family outing enjoyable. Five stars.
