I stopped in one afternoon and ordered an iced coffee and banana nut muffin. The coffee was ok, and the shop very cute with lots of options including baked goods. Very earthy calm vibe. There is a florist shop nearby, which adds some charm. Unfortunately, as a first time visitor, I wasn't greeted well or made feel welcome. I drove by here a few times and finally had time to stop and go in yesterday and Wednesday. The shop shares a space with a florist and it is beautiful. They have so many options of coffee that are a family owned local business. The associates were so helpful and nice when I had questions about the coffee and flavorings. The inside is not big but very cozy and intimate which I imagine a coffee shop to be. The have bar seats and tables inside and outside. On a nice sunny day sitting outside is great because there are a lot of plants outside to give a nice ambiance and great for some selfies! I bought the Carolina classic and Cerrano gold; which are mild and rich brews! They taste great! Each bag makes a 1 pot brew which I though was nice. The prices are great. I paid a total $7 and change for a small coffee( which was big) and two small brew bags.They even have some local business and chain brand breakfast and fruit items to go with your coffee! I've stopped in Blythewood a couple of times in the past as it's a nice break in between Columbia and Charlotte on I-85, but I never managed to find the Bloomin' Bean until now. I'm glad we did. This is a cute little coffee shop that shares the space with a florist. A short hop off the highway, they have enough parking for the size of the shop. Free wifi worked well. As for the coffee, we had a properly prepared americano. As it's supposed to be, espresso and hot water. Very hot, very right, the tiniest bit of cream on top and it was perfect. With it a biscotti from the cookie jar on the counter. The young gent who made our coffee was pleasant and smiling. Definitely will make Bloomin' Bean a regular stop on I-77. I moved to Blythewood in late August and always heard there was a local coffee shop to go check out. I always assumed people were talking about Iron Brew. After a little digging I found this coffee bar inside a florist shop (appropriate name). Wow! Talk about a hidden gym. It felt really satisfying to find it because I heard so many people at my school talking about it. I had an iced caramel coffee and it was as good as any you'd have anywhere. I've had that drink in Boston, San Antonio, Louisville, etc. It competes with them all and I rank them pretty up there. I stopped in right before closing, but the staff didn't act irritated or anything, which I'm sure they probably were! This cozy little cafe has free wifi, very good local-roasted Iron Brew coffee, tasty sweets and fantastic prices! They brew pour over, one cup at a time, so it's always fresh. The barista was very sweet as is the scent of this cafe since it is connected to the florist. Though small, there are plenty of seats and plenty of options. Quite strong, perfectly steamed and delicious almond milk, and rich energizing espresso that was very affordable (~$3.15 for a large). Mykayla met me at the door with a "howdy-do" and I was hooked. This place shares space with a flower shop, so you have two of the most energizing, comforting smells combined in one location! I'm usually a "hot, black, and bitter" kinda guy, but Mykayla made me an almond milk latte and it was DELICIOUS. I worry that when I request a latte, it'll be sweet. This one wasn't. It had enough of the nuttiness of the almond milk to cut the bitter of a great cup of coffee. Combine that with the excellent customer service and the great space? Absolutely. I am SO VERY HAPPY to know that Blythewood has a coffee shop now! This is in a relatively small space but their menu is straightforward and offered plenty of coffee and non-coffee options including chai tea (my fav). My chai latte was made perfectly. There are a lot of pre-packaged food items for sale on the small bar which is almost too crowded with them. The location is a little hard to find but not too far off I-77, so was a welcome treat after exiting Columbia and heading north. The barista was friendly and informative. I love their decor, although I didn't see much table space if you need to have a lot of elbow room. I imagine in the warmer months they have outside seating, too (or they should!). I travel to Columbia every month so I look forward to returning to Blooming Bean soon! read more

I've found a new coffee spot, it would appear. Nudged here by a lunchtime Google search while passing through, I arrived simply in need of some decent, non-convenience-store coffee -- but I got much more! First, the place was a full-service coffee bar, offering a full range of gourmet brews, including cold-, which I ordered, and discovered to be not only excellent but with a curiously reasonable price. Second, this excellent, cheap cold-brew was served up by a particularly friendly barista (with whom I exchanged something slightly more than the empty small-talk typical between patron and guest -- a bonus, as it were). Finally, the shop itself was everything I like in a restaurant: clean, comfortable, homey, as well as sharing its space with a flower shop. And: there was a bathroom, and it too was clean and functional and good. What more could you ask for? Overall, I really enjoyed myself here, and if ever again in this neck of the woods, I'll have to swing by again. My sincere thanks goes out to this business and its operators, for offering such a resting place for me on my travels. Good job :-) read more
