Don't let them gaslight you into painful procedures when you have no pain, in the name of being "proactive". In retrospect I can't believe I let that happen to me repeatedly until my insurance declined excessive crowns that were unnecessary. That was truly a wake up call. I had 2 separate dental offices confirm that I have healthy teeth and need no crowns. I especially deeply regret one painless tooth that I let them put a crown on, which proceeded to have cold sensitivity afterward, and even though there was no infection, they sold me on a root canal which will remove nerves so I won't feel anything. They aggressively called me in the weeks after the visit and I stupidly relented. I now have a root canal infection and need extraction and implant. I went along with the nonsense for far too long because I previously had a pay-more-for-better mind set. Now money is not even the worst part of it. They did not just upsell bells and whistles cares that are nice-to-have and just bad values; they sold invasive procedures that were detrimental to my health.
