Bike path in Bloomingdale Park. (06/15/05)
    Alevtina V.

Staten Island's newest park is located in Woodrow. Bloomingdale Park's 138 acres are bordered by Ramona Avenue to the north, Lenevar Avenue to the east, Drumgoole Road W to the south, and Bloomingdale Road to the west. Much of area was preserved and remains habitable by wildlife. (There are birds of all sorts singing in the trees and woodland bunnies hopping along the trails.) The rest of it, though, was reserved for recreational use. Among the hiking and bike trails that currently exist, Bloomingdale Park is home to a baseball field, softball field, soccer field, basketball courts, and a playground with sprinklers and swings. There's also a bocce court. When this park first opened a few years ago, it was very deserted. You would see the occasional parent pushing his/her kid on the swing and the lone bicyclist barreling down the trails. Now, cars are always parked along Maguire Avenue (which cuts into the park from the north and south, never quite coming together to dissect it) and the adjacent streets. You're never alone when you're on the trails and the kids always have someone to run around with. There are also community events posted on a bulletin board, so you can always find something to do. This place has really come alive as of late, showing that such a lush park is just what this neighborhood needed. (Up until it was built, there were no ballfields on Staten Island south of Richmond Avenue.)

Love our neighborhood playground!! It features different sections for different age groups consisting of age-appropriate slides, monkey bars, swings and a children's play area. I took my girls around out of the playground area and we took a walk down the trail. Absolutely gorgeous and calming at the same time. The girls rode their scooters freely while I pushed my little one in her car bike. Perfect place for the kiddies!

Nice park good play area. Nice fields where son plays football. They have special events in the summer time. Alot better than wolfs pond which has gotten full of obnoxious people. Throw in semi clean bathroms and this place is a winner!

Very awesome Carousel that kids and big kids like myself love. Very inexpensive and the conductor…read morewill allow parents to escort their kids without having to buy additional tickets. It is located in the park with a playground, walking tail around the lake, with ducks, etc. Good family time.

We just celebrated my daughter's first birthday at the carousel on 6/23/19 and let me tell you that…read morethe entire experience from start to finish was amazing. Every time I called or spoke to someone, they were so kind, willing to answer every question I had and assured me that everything would be perfect. They were right. The space for the carousel is for 50 people because that is how many chairs they have available. We had over 50 people there and you never felt crammed or squashed. There was SO much space. We had entertainers come and they had room to set up and put on their shows as well. They park provides 6 rectangular tables for guests to sit at as well as 3 other tables that could be used to food, gifts, favors..etc. The carousel operator ( I wish I would have remembered her name) was amazing- she was so kind and attentive and even gave the baby a t shirt! The staff working at the concession was also so helpful in letting us unload the food and drinks prior to the party start time. A special thank you to Emily who really went above and beyond to make sure everything went right. The weather was perfect too and it helps that the entire carousel section is covered so even if its hot outside, it was nice and shaded. Our guests were raving about this party for many days afterwards. We even had many native Staten Islanders who had come there for the first time. They will definitely be returning. I want to have every party there from now on. Thank you again to the staff, Do not hesitate to throw a party here because you well get your moneys worth and the experience will surely be a positive one.
