Great service and ways a good ambiance shopping there. Great liquor and beer selection. A neighborhood favorite!

This is my neighborhood go-to liquor store and where I often purchase lottery tickets. The customer service is consistently good. They are helpful when I can't find what I want. If you engage in conversation, they are nice and friendly. My kid was admiring a cardboard truck displayed in the window once and when the owner saw him, he walked over and gave it to him. The staff is not effusive, so don't expect bubbly greetings. But don't mistake that for lack of friendliness. From what I can tell, they have a great selection of products. This is your average local wine & spirits shop. It's conveniently located at the end of my block, but I'd say that the prices here are a little high. I will say that hey have a great variety and I've been able to find anything that I need. On the plus side, you can get take-out sushi from a couple doors over and a bottle of wine here & make it a real fun night! read more

Selection doesn't even come close to Schneider's, but they've got a solid variety of Ron Swanson juice at competitive prices with the occasional less common find. Staff is a little aloof, but it's nice that they can ring customers up on multiple registers before bottlenecking us back out the corner entrance. The Starr Hill vendor offering a beer tasting was an unexpected bonus. We'll be back to shop when we're in the neighborhood again. read more

Gone is the bullet-proof plexiglass of yore, and in place of the previously ubiquitous bottles of MD 20/20 and Night Train you will now find a decent range of wine, including many Spanish and South Americans selections. They even have a few Greeks which turned out to be a boon to me when I had to find something to accompany a Greek-themed dinner (I got an Agiorgitiko from Nemea in case you're wondering). Not to be overlooked is their selection of craft beers (mainly cans) arranged in the fridge that lines the back wall; in addition to national and local favorites like Oskar Blues and DC Brau, they carry products from smaller regional breweries such as Lancaster (I like to pick up a six of their Kolsch every now and then). Certainly not the best or highest-end selection in town, but it meets every day needs and beats having to schlep down to Schneider's on short notice. read more

Wine, Liquor & Beer - what else is there in life?! My review might be a bit biased since this liquor store is at the end of my street - but I have no complaints. They always have what I need in stock and have a variety of everything - including box gift sets for your favorite beverage of choice. This is a first for me. So let's just say, based on my experience there, I felt inclined to write a review. First of all, this is a NICE liquor store that offers a good VARIETY in a developing neighborhood. There are plenty of "corner store" liquor joints all through this neighborhood, so this was definitely refreshing and inviting, with its large location and bright lit signs. I also enjoyed that they didn't hide all the good stuff behind the glass. I was able to contemplate Ciroc (my fave) vs. Grey Goose (runner up) right in my hands, which ultimately led me to making a purchase, with a bottle size I had not seen in many other stores, so I was very pleased. Also, the staff seems friendly, although I don't know how knowledgable they are on the specific products they have (english seems to be their second language). Nonetheless, this is a nice little hike from where I will be moving, but I could certainly see myself making the trip, to not have to deal with all of the unknown of other nearby stores. Good prices, good wines and good liquor for everyone's taste and budget here. We buy much of our party and dinner wine and beer here and have never been disappointed. And it's a short walk and 2 minute drive from where we live so it's ultra convenient. Also at the bus stop (G8) so I can stop off after work and get something if necessary. read more

I went here today for the first time in at least 5 or so months. First of all, kudos to liquor stores that are open on sunday! Also, being open until 9 on a sunday is pretty rare. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the plexiglass barrier was taken down, and I could speak with the employees somewhat face-to-face. This is probably my favorite liquor store in the area simply because it is always bright and organized. Prices are comparable to most area stores but i've definitely seen lower ones elsewhere. If the prices were lowered just a tad I would give it 5 stars. Overall I am a fan and will be making this my go-to liquor store. Great selection. read more

After moving to DC from Arlington, I was probably most excited about the more relaxed alcohol laws. I don't care if I have to pay higher taxes, as long as I can buy liquor at 7 pm on a Sunday. Then I moved here and discovered you can't by liquor at all on Sundays. But that's not specific to Bloomingdale liquor. Bloomingdale Liquor is a fine booze-monger. They seem to have a decent wine stock, and a lot of beer fridges, but I don't buy those here. Their bourbon selection was slightly above average, but their prices were slightly below average. There was nothing there I haven't seen before, like some rare whisky, but this is a great neighborhood liquor store. The check out process is a little awkward (cashiers are in a boxed room to themselves), but the cashier was nice. read more

This one is better than a corner liquor store tho' because there are no people that hang out around it. This store is the bomb! The owners are the most friendly in DC! I entertain enough that I know liquor stores. Every time, and I mean EVERY time I go in I'm made to feel at home. This is what a neighborhood business is supposed to be. The client appreciation and salutations are next to none in DC! The build up of their wine selection beats all in Dupont too! The good news... they rent keg taps. Which is key if you are getting great beer from one of DC's local breweries. The bad news... they only rent the cheap and easy to break ones. Oh, and they DO NOT CLEAN the taps prior to renting them. Make sure to test the tap right in front of them. (open spigot and let beer flow out of line). Recommend just buying your own tap on Amazon. The staff is friendly and answers questions on wine with a good degree of knowledge, and they have specials on a regular basis. They don't have their packs of beer labeled properly. When I told the cashier I was being overcharged, he still cashed me out, gave me no receipt, then went back to check and said specialty beers aren't labeled (even though they are on a shelf with a clear price). Without a receipt and in a rush, I let it go, but I won't be returning and recommend every be wary. read more

Horrible, horrible customer service. I JUST purchased a Groupon for this place on Friday, went out of the way to visit this place and redeem it today (Monday) and they merely stated they're "no longer accepting" the Groupon, even though it was good for several more months. When I complained, the manager was very dismissive...saying the product I was purchasing was now more expensive and therefore, they won't accept the voucher. This place definitely won't be getting any more future business from me - if you sell a discounted deal, then honor the deal! If you don't want to honor the deal, then take the deal off the Groupon site. Seriously, don't waste your time here! There are plenty of liquor stores in the city, with nice owners who provide great customer service, but this is not one of them. read more

I like this shop so much. The guys are fine, nicer once they get to know you. They carry just about everything we've ever wanted, including high end whiskey we used to have delivered to us because we couldn't find it anywhere in D.C. I purchased a nice bottle of whiskey from them that I had shipped to me. To no fault of theirs, the bottle was broken when it arrived. I immediately contacted them by phone and email and they responded to both immediately. They stayed in contact with me the entire time and ensured that they made the situation right by me. The selection here is good, and the presentation is nice. I usually buy Grey goose or Ciroc from here. The prices are better than most other stores I've seen in the area and a few things are cheaper than some ABC stores I've visited in Virginia as well. The guys working there are also pretty knowledgeable. I asked one of the guys if they knew of any new or different whiskey as I was in the mood for something different. He recommended High West Whiskey, which I had never heard of before but I ended up really liking. Overall, its a good place to get alcohol. read more
