We engaged John last November to do knock down ceilings and paint our entire house after he completed a very nice job on a flooring project the year before. This new project did not go well. We discussed and agreed to the project schedule and expectations. What transpired was a serious lack of transparency and management. We were taken advantage of including paying for work that was never done and were told it was, hurried work that required rework multiple times, schedule slippage by multiple weeks causing us to incur additional costs and rescheduling subsequent contractors. John discussed making things right, however we were well past the point of allowing for this to continue and paid for a different contractor to finish the remaining rework. The flooring in our whole upstairs needed replacing (it was impossible to only replace the kitchen flooring without it being noticeable in the dining room and living room). Bob came to our home quickly after we called him so that we could get an estimate to the insurance appraiser. The moving company's insurance didn't cover the cost of depreciation, so Bob spent an hour on the phone to convince the appraiser to lower the depreciation from 30% to 15% -- saving us around $1,200. Because he felt we shouldn't owe anything (the damage was not of our doing), he worked to get the price to within our budget -- without sacrificing the quality of product or service. The floors turned out better than we could have anticipated, and we couldn't be happier. Bob is truly an experienced professional who strives to provide the best for his clients. I would recommend him to my family and friends.

Our original 16 year old Duffy's hardwood floor had some major warping issues due to a water leak…read moreIn the kitchen . Duffy's spent several days drying the subfloor. They pulled up a number of bad boards, replaced them, then sanded and restained the whole floor. Looked great! Then the warping reappeared. It was not dried properly before the re-install or maybe the boards were not installed properly. Duffy's said they could redo the bad parts but the coloring of the new work might be very noticeably different. We had to choose between the warping or mismatching floor boards. We opted to not do anything for fear of making it worse. Very disappointing.

We hired Abbey to install a custom tile shower 6 years ago and after less than 1 year it leaked…read more They attempted a fix but after another 3 years it leaked again. After attempting to call and even a visit to the office no return calls were received. We hired another firm to rip out and replace the shower and found that the installation was completely wrong. As if armatures were doing the installation. We paid Abbey over $8k for the original installation and now we have $4k in fixing their subcontractors crappy work. They use subs for everything who have no skin it the game. Our new installer (a reputable company with a storefront in the community) stated that this was horribly incorrect and it is no wonder it leaked. DO NOT USE ABBEY DECORATING CENTER. BE WARNED!!!
