This is the 3rd time in the last 4 years that we have used Dave's Flooring for one of our home projects. That alone should let you know how we feel about their superior work and professionalism. For this project we wanted to install hardwood floors in our living room and upstairs landing. We just wanted to tie all the rooms together since Dave's did another job about a year ago. Everything is simple from the quote, demolition, installation and sanding to the finish. Communication is great and you always know where they are in the progress. I paid for 3 coats of poly and an additional "radcoat" supposedly to make the floors more durable. They sanded down the middle, did not do the corners or edges at all. After I complained they scraped off the poly and somewhat fixed the corners. Not great, but better. Applied one more coat and then the final coat so I got one less coat then I paid for. First time they left the doors unlocked, second time they left them not only unlocked but wide open in sub zero weather. The house was vacant so I guess they thought that was ok. When I asked them about it they said it was hard to lock old doors and hard to make old floors look good. I thought that was what they did? It was a 1940's house so not ancient. They have every excuse in the book ready when you call to complain. Not the same floor company I used to get for all my rehabs. Very sub par work which it appears to be from a variety of sub contractors. Sad that what was once a good business is now just a scam operation cutting corners whenever they can. If I could give them zero or -5 stars, I would. Last year in the height of the pandemic, I was having work done on wood floors. In spite of the website saying they wear masks, they refused to wear masks in my house. The mask refusal was while they were sanding, sawing, and using chemicals... you know, things that OSHA and common sense says masks are needed for safety. Oh yeah, by the way, I have signs on my door saying immunocompromised person lives here, please wear a mask. When I called the business, I was transferred to the owner. The owner proceded to yell at me, was condescending and rude and flat out said he doesn't give a f--- if I am immunocompromised, that if I had required masks they would not have taken the job. You know, a job that requires respirators for safety. They never finished the job and I had to fight to get SOME of my money back after THEY broke the contract. Run. Far and fast. Estimator arrived on time. Explained charges very clearly. He let me know several commonly made mistakes after floors are refinished (such as no rugs for 3-4 weeks and much more). The employees who came over and did the work were on time every day, and had great communication with me. Remember to keep your air conditioning on for the workers, it gets unbelievable hot inside even when the outside temperature isn't to bad. Especially with the machines they use. I was shocked at how bad the fumes were throughout the house for several days. We had them stain and refinish our wood floor. The stain looked amazing, love the color however apparently I should have expected "water popping" which looks like bubbles in the floor according to Justin. They came out and buffed and put another coat on...now I have embedded fibers in the finish, can see the circular buffing marks AND I can still see what to me looks like bubbles on the finish but is apparently an issue with sanding after they spray water and alcohol on the wood floor. The resolution I got was Justin telling me it is not their fault if I didn't understand water popping and the "independent" flooring inspector that would cost $700 to see if Dave's should do more work to fix it. This is the second time I've used them...no issues at all the first time but this time...I will NEVER use them again. Almost anyone must be better than the poor customer service and apparently the skill level to sand so that it doesn't look like there are bubbles in your finish is not available in their current staff. read more

My floors are 160 years old and the wood is very thick. The agreement was to grind down to get to fresh wood. I wasn't living in the house, so the 2 days they were there, I didn't see the progress. After putting 2 coats of oil on, I saw that there was big areas of staining that were not addressed and the floors looked terrible. I called justin asking why they didn't call me to say there were huge spots that's looked really bad. Justin just said we don't do any treatment of stains or discoloration. All I wanted was communication and a chance to address the stains/discoloration going forward. There was no acknowledgement that I was not happy, no apologies, no possible solutions. He said that the worker "gets in the zone" and keeps going even if there are problems. I do not recommend them. My floors look like I got a sander from Home Depot and did it myself. read more

This guy has a solid reputation (or so I thought) and when I was having my floors refinished my general contractor said to call him. I was out when he stopped over but I was told by my family and the workers at the house the guy showed up very angry and unreasonable and may of possibly been drinking or hung over or something. I got home and called to try and smooth things out and he was a total jerk over the phone. I was calm and polite and asked what the issue was and while I was talking to him pulled up state info and see he is not even licensed. I asked him about this and he flew off the handle even more. Again I previously heard good things about this company but maybe I caught Dave on an off day or hung over or maybe he's just turned into a jerk, I don't know. I can't recommend anyone with whatever personal issues he has going on so would suggest another company. read more

We decided at the last minute to refinish our floors before we moved in to our new house. I called up Daves and they got us a quote the next day and started 2 days later! The timing could not have been more efficient. They took time to explain the process and were very knowledgeable. The job did get delayed by a day as the floors didn't dry after the 2nd coat. So make sure to keep the heat up if you want it to dry fast. Overall though it got done just in time to move in. They answered all questions anytime we called and after the job was done followed up to see how things were going. We continue to get so many compliments on our floors everytime we have new visitors over! read more

I hired Dave's to sand and refinish the floors in my house that was built in 1901. The old floors were scratched, and had turned a slightly orange color. Dave's crew was professional, followed the set timeline, and helped with my many questions about prepping the floors and taking care of them after the job. They were fine with my last-minute decision to use a satin finish rather than semi-gloss. It was explained to me that the baseboards would be too delicate to remove, so I was worried that they might be damaged in the sanding process. But, everything looks clean and intact. DO NOT WORK WITH DAVES!! We had hired Daves twice in he past and had a great experience however this time with Justin uncharge at he offie it was TERRIBLE! Talk about RUDE! The installers tore out the carpet and installed the new floors. When they left on Friday they said they would be back Saturday to stain. So naturally we changed our schedule to ensure we were home. They didn't show up and now one in the offie had answers for us. When they showed up Monday & asked how the weekend was we expressed our frustration with them not showing up, which is a totally normal thing for a customer to do. We also had a TON of marks on the walls and trim that has to be repainted and a bunch of wood filler that has dried onto the bluestone heart of our fireplace.They acted like children & instead of apologizing (you know that thing called customer service) they walked out on the job. We called the office and spoke with Justin who was a complete A$$! HE told us they don't work with "people like us" plus a lot o other incredibly rude nasty things. So if you are "people like us" who expect good quality work from professional individuals DO NOT hire DAVES. Justin proceeded to tells we trashed our floor after they left and they needed to be completely redone. (Mind you just never even saw the floors). They ended up sending out another crew that told us nothing was wrong with our floors and they did a great job refinishing. They attempted to clean off the Bluestone but unfortunately it let a huge discolored spot in the middle of the stone that is not fixable. When we called to express our concerns & asked how this would be addressed Justin again was RUDE and said they didn't care if we wrote bad reviews about them. They said they would just lean out houses which they did. So now we are in a situation where they ruined things in our home that will be expensive to fix and have a lien on our home. Avoid!!! While estimator/ salesman Mike and office person were great with customer service, sadly the work was very poor. They failed to solve the problem they promised to fix the first time, put the wrong finish on, and added washboard bumps in the floor that were not there before. Unfortunately we paid in full before seeing the final product. Mike came out right away and offered to have the issues fixed and another finish coat done. Nothing was improved and the final top coat was worse than the first one. Email to them after 2nd try was ignored. Note that if you have an older or at risk family member, all 5 workers encountered had to be asked to wear a mask, and didn't keep them on in the home. read more

Hired Dave's to rip out carpet and install Brazilian cherry hardwood in our living room to match the wood floors in our dining room, foyer and kitchen. It was all then sanded and stained ebony and finished with Traffic Satin finish. There were a few glitches (as to be expected with a project of this size) but overall I am really happy with how the floors turned out and the service I received from Dave's. Don't worry about the negative reviews - the company was operated by someone else for a short time - but Dave is back and taking great care of his customers and staff. The two things I really like about this operation are: 1. No matter when I call and who answers the phone they can pull up my name and address my concern without a lot of delays and needing to check with various parties. 2. They have employees that are specialists in their areas (sanding, coating, staining, etc.). While it makes for a lack of continuity of workers coming into your house, they all seem to know what the plan is and because they know and enjoy their part of the job they do it well. We came home from Spring Break and the floors looked beautiful! I would highly recommend the Traffic Satin finish. No smell, quick drying time and beautiful easy-care finish. These guys did a good job on my living room floor. We originally had carpet, but I tore that up to find wood underneath that was in good condition. We then proceeded to tear up the tile in the entry way and it was as Dave's flooring described. Mostly wood, with a little tile under tile to tear up. These guys were able to fill in where there wasn't wood and match it perfectly. When everything was said and done, I had to replace the floor molding and have a little more carpentry work to do to get it back together. To be honest I thought these guys would do it, but apparently they weren't able to. Also they could be stronger in their scheduling and communication. We wanted to know when they would be around and know a little bit more about each process. We had to fish around for answers from the guys. In the end the floors look great, so if you have some patience, hire these guys. read more

Don't hire Dave's! I hired Dave's to redo my gorgeous maple hardwood floors. The floors had been scratched over the years, but were generally in great condition. Dave's underbids other flooring companies using workers who, depending on your luck of the draw, don't care at all about how their work turns out. I walked into my house after the job was done (on day #3) and started crying. I could tell immediately that they were not done well. I assumed that it was all in the top coat. Dave's agreed to rebuff the top coat and put down a new coat. They said that they would send "one of their two best guys." This guy was incredibly rude to my sweet nanny. (Saying that she "must work for incredibly picky people" and when she said that we just want the floors done correctly, that "they must've paid her to say that.") The floors looked WORSE afterward!! Dave's flooring (specifically, Wayne) assured me that their guy actually did buff the floors and redo the top coat. I hired someone else to redo the top coat. (And, of course, every time I have to have someone come back, it's another round of moving my entire main floor of furniture off the floors--did it three times!) When they arrived, they quickly assessed that the problem is not in the top coat, it's in the original sanding job with the floors. Dave's said that they want to redo the top coat of the floors AGAIN, while refusing to acknowledge that the problem isn't with only the top coat; the top coat that they supposedly already buffed and recoated. My only recourse is to take my story to social media and hope that at some point someone tells Dave's that Dave's lost their business because of what happened to me. In the end, don't go with Dave's because it's a lower price. Hire someone who cares about the job that they do. read more

Do not hire these guys if you care about your pets. My landlord hired them to refinish floors in the other half of the duplex that I rent. For some stupid reason, they had to run a huge cord through my unit (I was sleeping at the time). They left both the interior door for my unit and the door to outside open for hours. I needed quick response to refinishing 650 sq ft of original oak flooring on an old half, installing 500 sq ft of solid oak flooring on a new half (with tear up of underlayment), and 150 sq ft of vinyl plank flooring in the kitchen (with tear up of underlayment). The whole main floor of a large rambler. Dave's flooring team, while not perfect with sales and communication, did a great job meeting my needs. This is hard work. It's an industry that does rougher service work. Those dreaming of dust-free work and perfect floors can try to find the rare guy who charges a lot and isn't available when you need him. I think many of the negative reviews have too high of expectations. These guys were booked 2-3 weeks out, did the work on time, with reasonable quality, and at a good price. I would recommend them. We used Dave's about a year ago to change our hall carpet to match our Brazilian cherry floors. It turned out beautiful. We were so pleased that we hired him to change the carpet the sitting room to the wood floor. And have the rest of the wood floors refinished. They were old and needed to be redone. We called Dave's back and he came out and redid the rest of the floors. The installers got to take two of the baseboard moldings are. And left an inch or so gap. When the guy came back to stain farms he took the baseboard off which left about a 2 1/2 inch gap. Way too big to put any kind of baseboard in. they also scratched a scratch in the floor by the dining room. We have tried and tried for about three weeks now to get them to come fix it. They keep saying they will look into it and call us back and they keep trying to blame everybody else. And then they never called back. I was not sure what else to do so I decided to write a review to possibly get them to finally answer us and to let people know that this is the way that they are conducting business now. One of the guys told me that someone else took over the business. Maybe that's the problem. I'm not sure. Needless to say we're still waiting to fix our floors so that we can finally put our baseboard down. They were also three different guys that have been through here doing the floor during its process. three or four different people that they have had coming through here look very shady. Just do your homework and a lot of interviewing before you decide to have your floors done. Update to come if we ever hear from them. Literally the worst customer service experience my wife and I have had. They didn't do the complete job they said they would (sealed dirt into the dining room floor, and didn't seal a closet floor in the upstairs bedroom) - then refused to reimburse us - after literally weeks of trying to get a hold of this company - "we'll call you back" means absolutely nothing there - my wife spoke to a "Justin" at the company who told her he had talked to the owner about it, and he refused to reimburse us. Frankly, it seems extremely petty to us. We were extremely accommodating to his crew, and did everything they asked. We even went with them despite their being a higher quote and "not being able to go lower due to the overhead from being a larger company". Our experience - this company seems to have zero qualms about being rude to customers for no reason. We did nothing wrong in the situation - we've only asked for a paltry $150 (which is what their rep told us they would pay us when we first spoke to them), and now - months after the fact (They were doing the job in July - it's now late September), the OWNER of the company is willing to lose a customer over that $150 we are owed due to HIS crew not doing their job correctly. Just a ridiculously petty and short-sighted way to do business. Avoid them if you want to work with professionals. read more

Dave's agreed to provide floor sanding services to us. They attempted to do so but did a terrible job. Dave's agreed that we did not receive the level of service we expected and agreed to fully refund us the $826.00 down payment that was charged to our credit card. After weeks of trying to obtain our refund from Dave's they claimed ignorance and said they never agreed to refund our down payment. We met with Wade from Dave's on January 28, 2016, to discuss refinishing our hardwood floors. Wade provided a proposal to us before leaving our appointment. The proposal for floor refinishing services included sanding and refinishing the kitchen, dinette, pantry, living room, dining, hall, foyer, 1/2 bath, closet, staircase (15 treads, 16 risers), remove and reinstall carpet runner, B & C on stairs, remove & reinstall shoe around cabinets. The total to perform the work as described on the proposal equaled $6,452.00. We chose to scale the scope of our project down to only include the kitchen, dinette, pantry, 1/2 bath, removal, and re-installation of base shoe for a total of $1,653.00. We verbally accepted this scaled-down proposal and scheduled the project for March 21, 2016, during a telephone conversation with Dave's employee, Jeff. Dave's then began the work and we had disputes with them about: * Sanding our pantry (which wasn't supposed to be sanded), * finishing the floors at a quality lesser than expected (visible lines in the stain finish, hair, and gritty particles), * failing to adequately seal off rooms and cover furniture (which caused extreme dust everywhere), * destroying our base shoe and failing to replace it in a manner that matched our existing cabinetry. it's most important to know that Dave's ultimately agreed to refund our down payment because of these disputes. Dave's improperly sanded our pantry. Before Dave's started the work, we called them two separate times and told them to remove the pantry from the scope of the work. The first conversation was held with Wade. The second conversation was held with Jeff. Both employees confirmed that the pantry would be removed from the scope of the project. Dave's simply screwed up and ignored our request to leave the pantry out of the scope of the project. The finish on our floors did not meet the quality we expected. Performing work outside of the scope of the project was the beginning of our problems with Dave's. After Dave's said they completed the project, we found several problems with their work. For example, we found that our floors have visible lines in the finishing work. This suggests that either the finish wasn't properly applied or the buffing process wasn't properly completed. Either way, the floors look bad because of it and that work did not meet the quality we expected. In addition, we have found several hairs and gritty areas below the finish. This suggests that the floors weren't properly vacuumed in between the finish applications and buffing process. The floors look and feel bad because of it. Again, this is not the level of work we agreed on and we were not expecting these imperfections in the finished project. Unfortunately, our house was a disaster at the completion of the project. We found out that this was because of Dave's employees--for some unexplained reason--removed the plastic protection before they were finished sanding and buffing which caused dust to disseminate and settle everywhere. We also learned that their employees chose to utilize machines that were "easy to handle" but did not have bags to catch the dust that was created. They created a huge mess that they could have been avoided with some easy precautions. This also likely caused the blemishes discussed above. Dave's destroyed our base shoe in the areas sanded and failed to replace it with an equal quality product that matched our cabinetry. Dave's destroyed the base shoe below our cabinetry when it was sanding our floors. The original proposal was to remove and reinstall (existing) base shoe. But Dave's failed to remove the shoe in a way that preserved it and destroyed it beyond repair. Dave's then agreed to purchase and reinstall new base shoe that matched our cabinetry. But Dave's didn't do that and instead installed shoe that was of an inferior wood and stain than what they destroyed. The shoe still doesn't match to this day. Dave's came out to our home several times to look at the issues with their work. They assigned a senior member of their team to "fix" the problems. His name is Mike. Upon entering our home, Mike was shown the imperfections in the finished floors and he explained that the only way to fix the damage was to completely re-do them. No thanks. I called Jeff at Dave's and asked for a full refund of our original payment. And while Jeff said this was an unprecedented request, they will agree to it. But on July 15, 2016, Jeff said Dave's "changed their mind". Because of their work product and ethics, I won't use again. read more

We hired Dave's to refinish our floors in May. They did a horrible job the first time and had to come back and do it again the next week. We had to move our furniture in and out twice. We had to live without our kitchen and main floor for two weeks. And we had to clean up all the dust twice. The end result is the floors were done poorly. The finish looks like it is painted on in the sunlight. There are ridges of finish running along the board joints and there are already some scratches showing. In early June one of their representatives emailed me and apologized and said they wanted to make things right by us. I have replied twice now and he has not acknowledged my emails in three weeks time. I would not hire Dave's ever again and I would certainly not recommend them to anyone. read more

Dave's flooring was hired to do our floors where they would add in new wood floors and then sand and stain all the floors and use a UV technique to harden the top coat. The person who installed new wood where the carpet was did an outstanding job. He integrated the new floors with the old floors perfectly. The job took him a week, a week in which we lived out of our basement and bedrooms and stayed off of our main level. The following week Dave's came out to sand down the old floors and the newly installed wood floor, which happened on Monday and Tuesday. They applied the stain on Tuesday, it dried and then on Wednesday they came and put on a top coat. Thursday they came and put on another top coat. On Friday they came with the UV machine to harden the top coat. The final coat, which they put on Thursday, May 5th, was put on in the afternoon. We had to wait until 9:00 PM until we could walk on it with our socks. The next morning, Friday, we noticed that different areas of the floor had a different top coat on. In the living room and dining room there are "pockets" by the main patio door. Both of these rectangular areas look like they were covered with a matte finish. The rest of the room was covered in what looks to be a satin finish. We wanted the satin finish. One is shiny and the other is not. The person who did the UV coat on Friday said that he had never seen two different looks on one floor before and he got on the phone to talk to the person who put the top coats on. Besides those two areas, the kitchen was a matte finish (like I said, we wanted satin throughout). The dining room was switched, the part closest to the window was a satin finish and the rest of the room was matte. The rest of the floors seemed to be in satin. The person doing the UV coat did not know what to do since he had never run across this situation. He called the guy who applied the coats, and this guy swore up and down that he had put the same finish on the entire floor and that he shook every can. This person had someone helping him out who said the same thing. Being a logical and rational human being and looking with my eyes, I am telling you that there were two different finishes of top coat on the floor. Dave's insists there was not. I invited neighbors and family who saw it and they said the same thing, there were two different finishes on our floor. The only other explanation is that the finish types were mislabeled at the factory. It is theoretically possible, but I doubt it. The person who put down the top coat had to have made a mistake, which happens, but they would not admit it and everyone I dealt with at Dave's would not say those words either. After a half hour on the phone it was decided that the kid would run the UV light over the floor and that Dave's would come out Monday and re-do the top coat and UV. This way we could walk on the floor without scratching it and lead a semi-normal existence. I found this solution acceptable. On Monday, May 9, 2016, I received a call from Dave's and they still insisted the top coats were the same. They wanted to put a different product on the floor that is used in commercial buildings that would cure with chemicals and would have 80% of the hardness of the UV coating. I told them I was worried about my dogs scratching the floor while it dried. This happened at my neighbor's house and their floor is covered in scratches after having their floors done. With the UV coating were zero scratches from the dog over the weekend. I wanted them to put it in writing that this new coating would be just as scratch resistant as the UV type, or else they would come out and redo the floors again. They would not do that. They told me I already had the UV coating on the floor and there was no problem, and I had to point out that they screwed up the coating and the floor is 100% different finishes and that was not my fault and it was a problem. Anyway, I called them back and insisted that they come out and redo the floors with the UV coating. Dave's sent out two different guys to fix their mistake. Once again they tried to talk me into using a process that I did not want and did not pay for initially. I insisted that they use the UV coating. They told me this process is not perfected and that there was no problem with my existing floor. I asked them why they would sell a product that they do not trust. There was no good answer. The guys got to work and they put a new finish on the floors. This time the floors looked like they all had a satin finish. They were beautiful. One thing that did piss me off is that he called this "warranty work." If they job is not done right and is not completed, I would not refer to it as warranty work. I would say you are there to do the job right. What a nightmare. I would never hire Dave's again. We had Dave's sand and refinish the first and second floors of our house. We were given a timeline of between 3-4 days for them to complete each phase of the work (+ one day to dry), so we made arrangements to be gone from our house during that time. With a toddler, newborn and 3 cats, this isn't easy. They were a day late finishing the first phase of our project and a day late with the second story, requiring us to scramble to make alternative arrangements for overnights we hadn't planned on. The Dave's crew called us once each time they began the sanding, but gave us no additional updates about timing throughout the project. When we came home after the second phase was supposed to be complete and dry and I found the Dave's crew inside still putting down a coat of poly, I was livid. I spoke with a crew member who told me he would get his manager, the manager told me he'd call the front office. . .not a single person could give me an explanation for the delays or take responsibility for the error. When the crew finally left, we found cigarette butts all over our yard and front entry, and sanding discs, paper towels pop cans and other garbage they left on the inside of the house. They also splattered poly drops all over the walls so now we have to paint the walls again. I'm very disappointed in the overall service level of this company and would neither hire nor recommend them again to anyone. read more

We had used Dave's in the past and had been extremely pleased. To be honest, if I had reviewed them in the middle of our most recent project, their score would have been far lower. So here's the good, the bad, and the ugly. The final result, absolutely beautiful end product. The floors in our house are over 100 years old. The refinish on the front hallway and kitchen including an impossibly narrow area between the staircase and wall came out beautifully, especially the way they were able to blend with adjoining rooms where there is no threshold between. It was difficult to get here though. The crew was originally scheduled to start between 9am and 9:30. The evening before, someone left a message for me saying they wouldn't be here until noon. No checking to see if that worked for me. I juggled my schedule and made it work except that ultimately it was many calls and 2:30 before the crew showed up. Now because of the area that we were having done we were relocating to a hotel for 3 days. In reality all they would have needed to do was send someone by to pick up the house key. When we got back home we were told to delay moving our appliances back into place for an extra day (more restaurant meals). We actually waited 2 days longer than recommended, because it took me that long to clean up after their workers. They did not wipe off a single surface. Good thing I had wrapped the kitchen cabinets in plastic. When we moved the appliances back, we discovered the coating was still too soft and the floor got all marred up even though we shielded with cardboard as recommended. We called their customer service department and they agreed to come take a look. The guy who came out was a bit older than the original crew and a whole lot more knowledgeable. He let us know that part of the problem was the rainy cold weather. This gentleman resanded the effected area and refinished it. He also used a vacuum system as he was sanding that resulted in little new dust. As I said in the end the job was beautiful and their price reasonable. read more

Please do not use Dave's Floor Sanding!! I contracted them out to re-finish my hardwood floors (sand and stain) and there were issues that should NOT go unnoticed. Firstly, I just want to say that after the floors were done they were gorgeous. Beautiful, smooth, and perfect color (this is why I'm giving them 2 stars, otherwise it would be 1). However, they completely missed a corner next to one of the radiators. I have 4 radiators in my home and the floors around them were all completed, except one! All of my 1/4 rounds were dinged by the sander and were splotched with dark stain. And unbelievably, they left their leftover garbage from their lunch in my kitchen! I first emailed them to complain and was responded with nothing but "that corner is too difficult to get to, call with any more questions." That's it. Not an apology, not we'll make it right, nothing. So I emailed back and asked if they could address the foyer. They responded by telling me to call into the office...with an exclamation point. So I called. The woman who answered had no idea what I was talking about. She put me on hold and then came back asking me if the estimator told me about removing the 1/4 round and that I would be charged for that option. I told her no, no one told me anything about removing the 1/4 round or if that was even an option. Lets not forget their dings and splotches was not just on the 1/4 round...it was on the trim as well! She scheduled another person to come out the following to day to take a look. However, still not an apology. Nothing to the effect that we're sorry for the errors, or the sloppy work, or the fact the job wasn't completed, or our workers left garbage in my home. NOTHING! Their communication is terrible. No timeline when the job is completed. No steps outlined of the process. No communication on how to get your keys back. Terrible. Rude, arrogant company. I'm never using them again. Horrible experience. read more

Very poor experience. We got bids to do a buff and coat and a full refinish. They assured us that the buff and coat was all we needed. On scheduled day of work, they then said we needed a full sanding and refinish. Also did not stand by original estimate They wanted to raise price by another $600. We said forget it. Dave's did a great job refinishing our living room, dining room, and office's original 1920s wood flooring. They advised us to not re-stain the wood (as it had been in the past) and we took their advice. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. They were very quick, their pricing was reasonable, and there was minimal mess to clean up after they had left (just a bit of dust). They did seem to have a bit of a hard time with the "office work" but we are very happy with the work we hired them for. read more

These guys did a great job! They got out the dark stains in my hard wood floors. They refinished my hard wood floors in the living room, dining room and two bedrooms and hallway. It was a big job. The floors look so beautiful and shinny now. They came in with a lower price quote and we're able to get the job done sooner than other places. They cleaned everything up when they were done. This was a really bad experience. For three appointments, the employees from Dave's were late each and every time. While I was assured they would arrive around 8:30-9:00am, it was past 10:00 and even 10:30 once for them to arrive. I had to wait and miss more work time to be home to let them in. Terrible. The customer service, over the phone but especially in the store in Blaine, was pitiful. We showed up for a showing appointment to choose floors and were treated like a nuisance. When the manager finally arrived to speak with us he was stand-offish; he was helpful and knowledgeable, but does need some customer service training. Disappointing. The final straw came with the floor sanding and finishing. When I arrived at my house after work, on both days the employee didn't bother to clean up after himself. The last day, my entire house was coated in a layer of dust. I'm talking 2-3mm in some spots. It's inside boxes, all over the floors, tables, chairs, rugs, couches, curtains, dishes in the kitchen, the oven, counters, all over bookshelves and inside books. Literally, EVERYWHERE. once again, when the representative left, he made no effort to clean up after himself. Instead, he left behind some rags, and an UNCOVERED RAZOR BLADE. I have a small child in the house and that is totally unacceptable. Woeful. When I called to speak with the manager, I was told he was gone for the day and would call me the next morning. I will update my review at that point with more information. However, based on what I have experience so far I would recommend that anyone looking to have floors installed or refinished look ANYWHERE else but DO NOT USE DAVE'S. read more
