I was invited to lunch today by two friends who raved about this place. I now see why they love it. For cheese lovers, this is heaven on earth. For people who want a great sandwich, healthy soups and delicious cookies and cupcakes, this is the place. Mary, one of the co-owners, is a sweetheart and was so generous with her time and allowing me to sample a tomato bread soup (simply to die for). The best customer service you'll find anywhere. If you are anywhere close to the South Shore (heck even if you are not close by, get in your car and drive here), you should make Bloomy Rind a must stop for lunch. This is a small, bustling artisanal cheese and meat shop with an extremely friendly staff who will welcome you, orient you to all of the choices, and make suggestions on items to sample. We arrived at what seemed like a busy time, and our freshly prepared gourmet sandwiches were ready in about 5 minutes! Food was amazing. Stopped here with a group of friends after hiking around World's End and needed a bite for lunch. Service was friendly if not a little chaotic since we arrived at peak lunch hour on a weekend. Food was definitely 5 stars; we started with a sampler from the deli case which were all delicious. I had the Cubano with cheddar (not a huge Gouda fan) and was pleasantly surprised by the portion size. Would have given this a five star rating except for when my friend went to pay, he nearly got in a fight with another customer because he inadvertently cut a couple customers (there was no line) who were also waiting to pay and was elbowed in the side to point out his error. This little shop is such a delight to visit when I'm in the mood for some seriously decadent food. They have healthy options which I never get once I walk in and smell the warm bread and assortment of cheeses. Their cheese offering is out of this world, and since I first began visiting Bloomy Rind I have learned a ton of new things- not just about cheese, but about the best quality olive oil, honey, dried meats, even crackers. This spot has been transported out of France and into Hingham Square. I've never had a bad meal here. The menu is staple foods with a twist which is a lovely change from the monotony of other lunch spots. Everything is made fresh, which does mean it can take longer, so plan accordingly. I've been here only once but will very likely return. There was a rather confusing array of very delicious looking foods there when I visited on a busy Friday. It was a bit chaotic, but staff there were very nice. I ordered the Butcher sandwich , which was very good and worth waiting for, although the baguette was almost too crusty. A much needed break for a way too long round-trip from NYC to Scituate, MA.....My partner and I just had a very long drive, a very stressful work encounter, a disappointing lunch in a nearby town, and were in need of some type of reprieve before our long ride back to NYC. We took a detour into Hingham, MA for ice cream (Nona's was excellent), but as my partner was getting a sundae - and kvetching that the detour better be worth the extra 45 minutes added to our already long drive, I was looking for a sandwich to fill the void from my earlier disappointing encounter with some bland chicken soup. Guess what I stumbled upon the same block at Nona's? The Bloomy Rind...with a sign in the front window that said "Top Sandwich, Travel & Leisure, 2018". Did I really read that correctly in the tiny downtown of Hingham, MA??? I had to go in. Bingo! As soon as I walked in, I knew I had hit the jackpot! I explained my plight to Mary, one of the owners, and said that my friend Frank, needed a boost. She made Frank the most fantastic Cubano sandwich ever, and me a veggie sandwich with more flavor than anything I have ever tasted in the Big Apple. The atmosphere, the food, and the hosts totally transformed a lousy day into a good one. We packaged up a good portion of our sandwiches for the ride home. Along with a mix of music ranging from Frank Sinatra to the Rolling Stones, we barely noticed the 6 hour drive or kvetched about the relentless traffic as we toggled between singing and munching on our sandwiches from our now favorite sandwich shop. My only recommendation is to get your sandwich at the Bloomy Rind BEFORE you get the ice cream sundae at Nona's...leave enough room in your belly for the delectable sandwiches...save the dessert for later. read more

The other sandwiches are also really a treat and Robert is always coming up with new specials. The salads are great and lighter fare (although still with some mighty tasty cheese added to the wonderful veggies and fruits.) I have only gazed longingly at the cupcakes but have had the pleasure of a truly magnificent cheese platter with olives, quince paste, peach chutney, and macadamia nuts artfully presented with the sensual range of cheeses Mary helped me to select. I looked up what they had for a menu online so i had a plan when I got there, but that changed when I walked in. They had these amazing looking sandwiches made and ready to go and also some flatbreads ready. I ended up getting one of each and both were so full of flavor and delicious. We lovingly call this "our cheese shop" to our friends and family. We have been here frequently for both cheeses and sandwiches after moving to the area a year ago. The staff REALLY know their stuff and are friendly. Mary has gone out of her way to answer our questions, let use taste cheeses, help us create cheese plates, and pair crackers and sides with our plates. She makes a point of learning her customers names and faces. This is the way a business should be run. Even if you aren't into cheeses, you should visit and just try a few, you can taste before you buy. I recommend the Humbolt Fog! The sandwiches are amazing- hidden gem really. If you are in the mood for a sub/panini/sandwich get it here and you can sit and eat at the rustic table inside the shop. The meats are amazing and there is always something new to try. Okay I stalked them until they finally opened now I am so happy I did.. This is a weekly stop for me. They do a lot more than cheese, but obviously that's the main attraction..Right now I want to talk about the fact that have have several kinds of Raw Sheep and/or Goat cheese which makes them a must go and try out these cheeses.. The owners, Mary and Robert are hilarious, and humor helps digest cheese. Not that you will need help if you buy raw cheese (especially goat and sheep) since it is like 70% easier to digest that pasteurized, so you can eat tons and still be nice to your colon. Oh and the olives, "arroy mak" very good bueno bueno...They also have a huge farmers table in the middle of the store and they encourage you to come and sit and try stuff. They are bringing the community together thru high caliber artisan cheeses. What could be better than that. They have a good selection of fairly local cheeses too! read more

The BEST sandwich in Hingham! They have 4 to 6 to choose from and always offer a vegetarian option. They have one large table with stools so it it not the place for a business meeting.
