Absolutely fantastic. We brought our friends from San Diego and across the 6 of us we sampled a myriad of items - each one of them fantastic... But it's Mary that really makes it special. Her enthusiasm is as infectious as her husband's cooking. A rare gem - worthy of a special trip. We had the chicken sandwich with Asian slaw, Cubano sandwich, a sampling of all her pastas, a caprese panini, terrific cheddar cheese she selected and then a delicious bread for dessert she dropped by the table. Stopped for lunch on a busy Saturday with 2 small kids and patiently waited 25 mins for 4 sandwiches, with 2 small children who also sat patiently and quietly playing with an iPad. When the manager? Owner? asked why we were still waiting after looking over at us multiple times. The woman who waited on us and took our name stated "their food has been ready" which prompted the rude, surly manager to bark "get up here" at us... shooing away other customers who didn't know who she was yelling at. Our name had never been called and we had no idea our food was ready. There was no "apology for the wait" or "thank you for your patience" and our order was completely wrong (one of the kids didn't receive a sandwich). Stumbled upon this place while looking for a small town to window shop in. Hit the jackpot! Reasonably priced, high quality food and friendly staff. Best roast beef panini sandwich(8.95) we ever had. Corn and kale salads looked good as well. They let us sample different cheeses and were extremely welcoming. We also ordered a pre made petite sandwich(3.50) of prosciutto and cheese which was wonderful as well. Very kind and friendly. Robert (a world class chef) crafts excellent sandwiches, soups, side dishes and pastries in the kitchen while Mary is the friendliest and most knowledgeable cheese monger ever and runs the front of the shop. The best food in Hingham. Stop by for lunch and take something home for dinner, appetizers or a party (they make great cheese plates). Everything Robert makes is awesome. (sorry to use an overused work, but its appropriate). He makes things I don't like delicious, such as pate and brussels sprouts. When you visit, ask Mary to try the carrot hummus and romesco. Just came from a visit to Bloomy Rind to get some things to celebrate a joyous day. We ordered the bread pudding (as we were told by the owner that it "was to die for") . Although it was flavorful, it was absolutely dry as a bone. Decidedly not "to die for." After we ordered the bread pudding, we told the young woman who was waiting on us (very nice, by the way) that we'd also like to get a charcuterie board. She asked us to step down to the cheese case and that Mary, the owner, would assemble one for us. We took the few steps towards the cheese case, when the owner, Mary, barked at us, "Go back over there! Stay away from the customer I'm waiting on." Excuse me?? It was NOT crowded, all 3 customers (2 of whom were my husband and myself) were well-masked. Her harpy and uncalled for tone was not only unnecessary, but the exact opposite of what her employee had just told us to do. We could've bought the same products at WholeFoods, but really wanted to support a local, small business. Note to owner: be aware of what your employees are directing your customers to do before you shrilly chastise them. As Biden spoke earlier today, "Lower your temperature." We were shocked and completely turned-off by the owner's rude demeanor so ended-up walking away w/just the dry bread pudding. We had a great day and didn't want to put up w/Mary's attitude any longer than necessary. With average products served w/a heap of sour disposition, we won't be back. There's better food and certainly less surly service pretty much anywhere else in Hingham. read more

There are those special moments that occur in a person's life that leave a long-lasting impression. Typically your wedding day, the birth of your child, the first time you did it, hopefully not in that specific order. I had encountered my first gastric orgasm while eating at Bloomy Rind. And I am not kidding! My college roommate (who is a regular at BR) took us out to lunch here. He raved about this shop on the drive over from his house. First, I must say that this "cheese shop/a lot more than that" is located on a quaint, New England street in Hingham MA. Exactly the scene you'd expect to see on a movie calling for a sleepy New England town. The brand name big box stores and restaurants were not anywhere within eyeshot...yes!!! I knew already that this was going to be good. Expect to be amazed with the unique lunch selection. Every single (and I do mean "every single") dish we had was absolutely perfect. I started with grandma's-goodness baked chicken seasoned perfectly, tasty green beans, a farmhouse style pasta that just "broke my mouth" it was sooooo good, a brie/prosciutto flatbread with fig jam that I thought I wasn't going to be able to finish since I over-ordered and because of my over-indulging in BR's home-made bread with a carrot-based hummus. But I ate every last crumb of that flatbread it was soooo yummy. I may have botched the food descriptions a bit, I admit, but that is exactly how I remember it. Did I mention that owners, Robert and Mary, are so nice and cool to talk to. They definitely have 5-star talent to create a warm social environment coupled with simply awesome, tasty to the last bite food offerings that will leave you dreaming about your return visit. Bloomy's is the perfect place to enjoy fine food in a very relaxed "hang loose" atmosphere. It was my very first experience here, but certainly this will not be my last. See you soon, Bloomy Rind! They're well trained, caring and genuinely enjoying themselves and it shows. Ahhh... to start.. two sandwiches, a cuban and a bacon letttuce and tomato? I think.. I ate the cuban and loved my sandwich. So you walk in... you're treated with a hello and we'll be right with you. I love a place that acknowledges you. We had Maddy.. (god I hope that's her name) and she made took our order and made our sandwiches.. They put on sandwich boards and my son reached the wrong way for his... Ugh.. I think everyone in the place gasped as the sandwich board pitched to the left..... like the slow motion spitting scene in Seinfeld where Keith Hernandez is accused by Kramer and Newman for spitting on them. I replayed it over and over in my head.. watching my son drop half the sandwich as he pressed his body against the counter to keep the other from hitting the ground..Ugh... Maddy was the best.. she remade the 1/2 that went flat lined and was dead... She was so great, did it and didn't miss a smiling beat. So we ate.. and then settled up the tab.. and when they rang me up.. I told them they could charge me for the 1/2 my son fumbled on the 1 yard line.. but they didn't. They're so nice. I don't make it back in the area that often.. I KNOW I will find myself going out of my way to come back here with my wife as soon as time allows. And no, I can't stop using exclamation points!!! So I had some kind of Tuna Nicoise sandwich. Sooo good! Tuna was perfect, whatever kind of spread just added a zinginess that went well with the tuna. And then I had a bite of my boyfriend's upgraded grilled cheese. It had melted Brie, bacon, and some kind of yummy spread. It was amazing as well!
