They answer any questions and send a video and booklet to read/watch prior to surgery. The day I arrived for surgery, all the ladies working were beyond nice and made me feel very good. I wish I had remembered all their names to thank them personally. The surgeon was super laid back and so nice and awesome, which made me feel very comfortable. When I got over to the surgery center, all the nurses were also super nice and amazing. The girl that put in my line did a great job and didn't even feel it. She was super sweet. The surgery was fast and done well. I got to meet the whole medical team, and they were all so wonderful. Once I was able to walk and not be out of it, they called an Uber, and a nurse also came to my room a few hours later for another bag of fluids. The next day, they called another Uber to give me another round of fluids. They also have called several times since the surgery, asking how I am doing. They actually care. read more

I was considering Blossom and saw some negative reviews most with Dr. Umbach, many stating feeling scammed due to hernia surgeries. This made me want to look further. I spoke with them and asked the names of the surgeons that are currently performing surgery and noticed Dr. Thomas Umbach wasn't named or available (at least at the time of this post) so I looked up the info with the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners and now I know why. I am sharing my experience with Blossom Bariatrics so others can make an informed decision. I canceled my surgery during my pre op consultation after a thoughtful discussion with Dr. Apel. We agreed that my strong response to GLP medication was worth continuing and that surgery might not be necessary. I genuinely believe Dr. Apel had my best interests at heart, and I appreciated his honesty and guidance in that moment. I fully understood that I would lose my $500 fee to hold my surgery date. What I did not expect was to later receive a bill for over $10,000 labeled as pre op charges. We were told at the time of cancellation that any additional fee would be nominal. When we attempted to get clarification, Nick was consistently rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help. He refused to provide any itemized breakdown explaining how the $10,000 amount was calculated. This made the situation even more frustrating and difficult to navigate. Dr. Matt himself stated that the fee was unreasonable and told us he would strongly advocate on my behalf. He later confirmed that he had done so. Despite this, when we followed up with Nick again, he would not budge on the amount or offer any transparency regarding itemization. At this point, we are being forced to pursue legal action to resolve this matter. This has been incredibly stressful and disappointing, especially after initially having such a positive clinical experience with the physician. I would advise anyone considering Blossom to ask very direct questions in writing about all possible financial obligations before proceeding. Meh. This place buys theirs good reviews by having you give them 5 stars on their iPad in exchange for a Tshirt. If you are looking for a place that can get your surgery don't quick, yeah this is good for that. But, be careful because that's how quickly they want you out of their recovery center. I don't even think they have oxygen available in the recovery center in case of emergencies. But if you got the cash and want in and out, have at it. Might be wiser to stick to traditional surgeons and office visits...and be done in a hospital. read more

If you're feeling like it's too good to be true, you need to read my review!! It really is as easy as it sounds, probably even easier, and the care and service is beyond what you could imagine. I began my adventure into bariatric surgery about 4 months prior to coming across Blossom, having gotten engaged it was just the kick start I needed to get real serious about my health. However, after far too much run around with my insurance, the timing wasn't going to work out with having surgery and losing enough weight before it was time to dress shop; that's when I found Blossom Bariatrics. Being in the medical field myself, I was immediately skeptical because it all seemed way too simple and "all-inclusive" to be any kind of legitimate program. But, I decided to do the phone call, thinking I've got nothing to lose its just a conversation. This is where my journey with Blossom begins. Expecting to be hit with aggressive sales tactics, I was pleasantly surprised to have a very relaxing and friendly conversation with Nicole who not only answered all my questions but was very genuine in listening to everything I had to say and addressing all my concerns. There was no pressure to commit during the call, she simply provided me with my options and what would happen with next steps even though I knew right then I wanted to do it. Being a little impulsive naturally, I made myself take a day to think it through and talk to my fiancé about it before going forward. As soon as I made my deposit and booked my surgery date, I was passed on to work with Camrynne and Lori who were both equally as fantastic. I have a genetic predisposition to blood clots so this was my absolute biggest concern going into surgery and boy did they take it seriously. I don't recall who, but at one point it was even admitted they hadn't heard of my condition and they went so far as to research it and communicate it immediately to the surgeon to confirm whether it affected my eligibility. The level of attention they had towards addressing this concern was beyond exceptional, I'm fairly certain the last time I had surgery there wasn't even half the amount of care and attention put into this that Blossom had. Basically, if you have a question or concern, they will answer or address it; and if they can't answer or address it right in the moment, they will figure it out and get back to you asap. So, once this was addressed, health history reviewed, and labs completed it was time to begin my pre-op diet. I chose to manage my own travel arrangements as I had points/miles to use, so I can't comment on what the hotel/transportation option with Blossom is like but from what I heard from the others there with me that day, it was very seamless and easy. Now for the important part - Surgery Day!! The check-in was about how you'd expect, sign paperwork and what not, then I was immediately taken back to meet with my surgeon first thing. Normally, I don't have a hard time finding my words so really believe my when I say there aren't enough good words in the English language to describe Dr. Tom Umbach. We discussed my blood clot concern in detail again and he even consulted with another doctor just to be certain they take the right approach with me, he must've stopped by at least 3 more times while I was in pre-op just to update me. Pre-op, as with everything else, was super easy. They make sure you are comfortable and relaxed; I really appreciated how much the nurses communicated every step of the process with me. Kim and Lori were so great that they deserve their own reviews and 5 stars, well, actually EVERYONE there deserves this. They are so focused on managing pain and hydration, they taught my fiancé how to track my meds correctly and keep me moving, that by the time I flew home the next day I was just a little achy. Recovery was a breeze and really allowed me to work on developing a healthier relationship with food and with how I view myself. The Facebook support group is worth it's weight in gold. I will leave you with this - my heaviest was 293, at time of writing this (8-21-25) I am at 220, about 3.5 months post op, my one and only regret is not choosing this sooner. I had the vertical sleeve surgery at Blossom 5 years ago, 10-2020. My experience was wonderful. Unfortunately I have regained weight and was looking for a revision surgery. I contacted Blossom and scheduled a phone consultation with Dr. Apel. During the phone consult he was supportive and encouraging. I am self-pay so I pre-paid for the surgery in full, including the consultation fee and received a surgery date (11-6-2025). We bought plane tickets, filed for FMLA leave from work, bought the required pre-op vitamins and protein shakes. I was called by my coordinator on Wed (10-22-25) to confirm everything was alright and that I was ready to start the 2 week pre-op diet. 2 days later (10-24-2025) I received a phone call first thing in the morning telling me my surgery is cancelled. I was told Dr. Apel will be leaving the practice. I asked what options I had, I was told none. He told me I would receive a refund for the surgery. I was on my way to work so I didn't have time to ask a lot of questions. I am heartbroken, disappointed, and feel deceived. How is it possible that everything changed in 2 days? We have flights booked, child care planned, am going to miss a month of work because I took an unpaid leave for surgery and recovery. My manager has already assigned other staff to my shifts. What about all the required vitamins I had to buy a month ago, and the protein shakes I had to buy for the pre-op diet. I had emptied our savings for this surgery, just to be left with nothing, no options, no referrals, no hope! read more

I paid for the full surgery up front $13,000. Started the process and had a stomach biopsy. The next morning my left side went numb. Couldn't get hold of anyone to help. Then was told they won't do the surgery because they thought I had a stroke. I asked for a refund but was told the stomach biopsy was supposedly $9000! So I only got back $4000 and no surgery! A year later I had gastric sleeve surgery with New You with no problems. It's been a year and a half since my surgery and I still have no problems. I'll start with EMMI.. the business with no customer service that tells you what videos to watch from Blossom. Yelp doesn't have enough room for my opinion of EMMI so I'll write their review up later. Blossom employees have the fast track down. You can read plenty of reviews about that so I'll address issues that might not be mentioned & please, folks... what I think is my opinion & after what I spent, I'm entitled to it. Don't like what I'm typing, move on. First off, NOTHING is done at Blossom w/o a purpose. I was quoted a price of $9,999, assigned a coordinator - Jacqueline - that I can count on 7 fingers the # of times I spoke to. She said I can pay $600 for an aide aka MA to sit w/me through the night. $600 for an aide? What kind of gig of that? I used to be an aide & I don't recall ever making that kind of money but hey, good for her! I opted for my sister instead as she had gone to Blossom b4. The Hyatt is a nice place but it's in the middle of nowhere. There is no shuttle bus between them & the strip; between them & the Fremont Experience. I mentioned this as a good idea in the future w/Blossom & the Hyatt. I'm told that has never been suggested b4. Riiiiggghhhhttt. I was told I could walk to Target but I couldn't figure out how that was done & if I did walk over, how would I get my crap back to the hotel? In the meantime, they charged my credit card an additional $250. I wrote Jacqueline about this. I'm STILL waiting on a response. My sister flew in & got a rental. MapQuest said I could walk to the Strip in about 1.5 hrs. After driving there a few times from the Hyatt, I don't see how that is possible unless you hitchhike because sidewalks were missing. Hyatt Place is 15 minutes via car from the cemetery where Redd Foxx & Tony Curtis are buried, if you are into famous dead people. 30 minutes away from the cemetery where "The Old Man'' is buried & if you have to ask who the Old Man is, move on. Blossom gives you a lot of paperwork. You will be presented w/a doc stating you will be treated w/respect & vice versa. Here's some stars: Sasha.. Abraham.. thanks for the zip lock bag & the ice, Susie... Girl, you just rock! Thank you, Sam, for the 'Stupid Dry' advice. It's gotta get boring watching drugged up people wake up but these peeps are good at it. They use to be open 5 days a week but are doing 7 to catch up w/the pts they couldn't do when COVID closed them down. You can do the math... I'm thinking w/8 surgeries a day, this place will be open 7 days a week for a long time to come. They tell you that you get scrubs. Not true.. you get a decent t-shirt & sweat pants. If I were Dr. Tom, I'd save $ & do scrubs. I'd also ditch the logo on the clothes. Nobody wants the word 'Bariatrics' on anything. You get Ted hose, an electronic gadget for your legs to avoid blood clots... EXPENSIVE stuff. The 02 tanks are not in carriers & are shuffled around like furniture: what's up with that? You get pretty light green socks though! Top quality Stryker beds and curtains that divide beds. It's easy for employees to forget to close the aforementioned curtains but it really needs to be done more often. Do I want people seeing ME drugged up? I'm not sure if this is HIPPA, respect or a dignity issue. Remember when I said that NOTHING is done at Blossom that doesn't have a purpose? Someone will give you an innocent-looking piece of paper w/FOUR pickup times on it. A Blossom employee will then go to the computer & you & her will COMPARE & CONFIRM each of those 4 times, each of those 4 dates, each of those 4 purposes. TWO of my FOUR times were wrong. Jaqueline assured me that that has never been happened before! Remember when I said everything is done w/a purpose? Jacqueline found it hard to believe that someone reviewed those dates & times w/me and had the audacity to ask me what she LOOKED LIKE. Really, girl? 45 minutes later, another patient was asking me about my experience & I mentioned the wrong pick-up times. OMG! She had the same issue. Now how can that be, Jaqueline? NOTHING is done at Blossom w/o a reason. Some chick didn't COMPARE & CONFIRM each of those 4 times, each of those 4 dates, each of those 4 purposes for the FUN of it. Not a big deal? How's about you left the Hyatt to go touristy stuff and a driver is waiting on you? Then what? I thought I did my homework but I didn't. I paid $9,999 (no one gets the price quoted on the website judging from the people I talked to & my sister) & my insurance company was billed an additional $8,635. I am responsible for what they do not pay so at the end of the day, I will have paid what? $18,000? I had no idea how much my insurance would be billed & I should have asked. I've contacted Billing at Blossom & so far, 0 response. Not real impressed with their turnaround time. I 1000% recommend Blossom Bariatrics. I have had top notch care from beginning to end. I was on the fast track 2 nights and 2 days. Stayed at a wonderful hotel the Hyatt. Wasnt there for vacation so dont understand the complaints about the location of the hotel. My first day was lab work and straight to procedure, then IV fluids, then home to hotel for recovery. The next day was my follow up and more fluids then back to hotel to check out and head to the airport going home. I am 5 days post op and have no issues whatsoever except for a little gas here and there. Thanks to Dr Apel and the amazing Blossom staff! read more

Sales had ran my insurance gave me my out of pocket which I paid upfront 10k. They told me multiple times that would be my total cost. You are also told that if you receive checks from your insurance company that you have to sign them over to Blossom. I received 2 and immediately notified them and sent them the checks. I received bills from Blossom with ridiculous amount due on them. I reached out to billing and they said that I didn't owe anything and those bills were triggered when they process insurance claims and just to disregard them. 2 years later I receive a collection notice for 6k. I had no complications and needed no extra Services. And yes of course you sign enough paperwork that you agree to pay any additional out of pocket expenses. While I do stand by what I said about the facility and its staff. I do believe that either there sales department is either purposely deceitful or very incompetent. They won't even refund the $500 deposit under any circumstances. Logic and Reason do not apply here. Go to Las Vegas Bariatric, they take insurance and are just as qualified. Ok, a guy at Blossom got involved after reading my yelp review and got my "deposit" refunded, thank you. Although the right thing was eventually accomplished, it was like pulling teeth but I save that for a dental review. I did a lot of research before selecting Blossom. I'm so glad that I did. Everyone was so welcoming, and the fast-track program was easy to navigate. The online portal with tons of information was also fantastic. I also decided to use companion care instead of having a friend or family come to assist me. Although there is an extra cost for this service, I decided to have an experienced medical professional stay with me to ensure everything was okay and comfortable the night after surgery helped me feel at ease. Val was my companion caretaker, and she did a fabulous job. Taking me on my hourly walks, getting me ice and medication, and having her talk to me was great. I highly recommend the service for peace of mind. Throughout the fast-track process, I asked individuals how long they'd been at Blossom, and every single one of them also shared how much they loved it there, and it's been the best job they've ever had. Happy employees do lead to better outcomes and patient satisfaction. I immediately knew I had chosen the right place to have my procedure. I had the surgery earlier this week, and it went well. Luckily, I didn't have any nausea, but the gas pain and discomfort were REAL. Ha! But I survived, and now I am looking forward to the continued weight loss. The only thing I would suggest is for the surgeon to come out after you recover and share how everything went. Yes, the Nurse did share, but as a patient, I wanted to hear from the surgeon. Blossom was amazing, start to finish. The drivers were great, as were the nurses, Alex the nutritionist, Drs. Sakata and Apel (Dr. Matt). I never was left with questions. Especially amazing were Dana and Carl (drivers), Alex, Samantha (surgical admitting), Will (anesthesia) and Kaylee (phlebotomist/IV room) The only criticism I had was for my communications with consultant Jazmin. I emailed questions and FMLA stuff a few times, but got no response. I felt like they got my money, so I'd figure it out later. When I got here, I didn't feel like that at all though. Everyone was knowledgeable and professional. It's a real testiment to the quality of a place when probably upwards of 25% of staff are also clients. The facilities were clean and comfortable. I never once felt uncomfortable or in the dark about anything. Their availability and commitment to your aftercare is commendable. Weight and weight loss are not always pleasant subjects. I had vertical gastric sleeve (vsg) in 2016 by Dr. Tom Umbach with Dr. Matt Apel assisting. They call their procedure 'safe sleeve' referring to Dr. Umbach's patented method. I reached my goal weight in 9 months and continued to lose more past that. Blossom completely prepared me to be successful. I have been able to maintain my loss thanks to the good nutrition education I received from Blossom. Having vsg at Blossom was one of the best decisions I ever made and my only regret is not being brave enough to seek it out sooner. I am now able to do more physical activities, breathe easier, and just generally enjoy my life more. There is a mini "store" in the office for bariatric products, as well as a full online store. They have partnered with a meal delivery service. Where to start? I guess from my initial point of contact with Nicole & Jazmin. Very prompt at replying to emails & making sure I was following through with the preop education material. I arrived at Blossom on Monday 3/16 and was immediately impressed by the staff. I was *super* nervous but my fears were eased just by talking with the awesome drivers, receptionist & clinical liaison that got me settled in that morning. 3/17 I went in for my preop endoscopy with Dr. Sakata & IV placement with Kendra which was a breeze. 3/18 I had surgery with Dr. Matt Apel (who was cool as heck). I cannot thank Sam enough for her kindness & dedicated care of me pre and post op. Aemon the CRNA who handled my anesthesia was extremely professional and soothing-the two things anyone in anesthesia need to be. 3/19 I returned to the clinic to get my post op IV therapy with Val-she's a rockstar! Im super dissapointed with my experience in dealing with Blossom Bariatrics. I can lose weight but I gain it back pretty easily and being a diabetic I need to figure something else out before I am doomed to insulin for the rest of my life. He and I went back and fourth with Blossom for several weeks had the terms and conditions set, I had the time approved for being off work, I took the required courses, set the date, paid the deposit and they called back after some time passed and said that there is a new policy that they're implementing across the board and they cant use my insurance anymore for the surgery unless I have some sort of halital hernia. This is the exact momment I lost trust and confidence in Blossom. (As a side note: I did some research and it seems like a very small number of patients would have this halital hernia issue. This hernia was not a requirement when I signed the paperwork the first time. I did go back to my insurance company Aetna and asked if this a requirement on their end and they said no.) The fine folks at Blossom then quoted me a cash price of $16k+ for the surgery. To me Trust is a big thing and I just dont trust them anymore because they strung me along for a while and during that time they made quite a few changes during the course of dealing with them. The first change is that I believe they said they fired their taxi service. Not a big deal for me since im a local but I dont see that they changed that on their website. Second is that I would not be meeting with the nutritionist in person and would be doing 2 zoom calls. There were a couple other changes which I think are pretty big but there is also a point where there are so many changes where you as a patient second guess what else is going to happen. To make matters worse when Blossom cancelled my surgery after I declined to pay the $16,000+ for the surgery and they told me they would be giving back my $500 deposite. After a couple weeks I checked my credit card statement and realize that they never willingly gave it back. I reached out to them via email only a couple times and left a voicemail and I didnt recieve a response. I then approached my credit card company and they cheerfully gave me a refund. So if you decide to go with Blossom make sure you put your deposite on a credit card so that if they end up cancelling the surgery you could work with the credit card company to get your money back. CAUTION..... Be careful when paying the deposit!!! I had a significant life change event in my life and cancelled my surgery on January 16th, when it was not to even take place until February 5th. I requested my $500 deposit back, did not get any type of response from them until January 24th just saying they were not refunding my deposit. I was very clear with them as to what had happened. I could totally understand if I cancelled within the two-week window where everything had to be paid. Think twice before using them if they can not be courteous enough to refund a deposit over a life-changing event that was out of my control. read more

I had a super solid first experience with Blossom! Our driver, Chad, was on-the-dot punctual and super friendly. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and had a minimal wait to see our coordinator. Everything flowed super smoothly; intake, phlebotomy, ultrasound/stress test, meeting the surgeon and then to the dietician - everything ran like a well oiled machine. Everyone there was super friendly and took time to answer all of our questions. Three areas of opportunity I will mention; I was private paying and got very confused about the schedule as the literature stated the surgery and EGD would take place on different days but my schedule went from intake to surgery. My friend immedIately asked why I had not been scheduled for an EGD and it turned out I was, that they do the EGD and surgery on the same day for private pay. I feel that should have been clear although not and huge issue. The surgeon I met was not the surgeon doing my procedure - I would have preferred to meet with my surgeon (although Dr Matt is the bee's knees). The pre-surgery diet wasn't as detailed as I would have preferred "green leafy vegetables" does not equate to broccoli and cauliflower in my mind. I would have liked a meaty list of things that were ok for the daily meals. Bonus points for recipes! I wish I could give a 4.5 instead of a 4 because a 4 isn't reflective of how I feel. They are very good at what they do and, based on my experience thus far,I would definitely recommend Blossom. read more

I was very anxious when I first got here, but all of nurses and the staff and their support totally put me at ease. Everyone was absolutely amazing, very warm and caring! Also learning that some of the staff had the same surgery and how well they were doing and how great they looked was reassuring. I don't think I can say anything new that hasn't already been said a thousand times before....but I am Beyond pleased with my experience with Blossom Bariatrics and their partner Warm Springs Surgical Center. Everyone was amazing. I came all the way over to Las Vegas from Orlando Florida.. after reading all the wonderful reviews I was still a bit skeptical as to how so many people could have so many wonderful things to say. I have been in customer service for over 10 years and I'm not really easy to impress.. I have high expectations and Blossom Bariatrics and all of their wonderful staff met every single one of them from the first conversation on the phone all the way to the last interaction. They were all very informative. They literally hold your hand through the whole process and walk you through everything step by step. I don't think I ever had a chance to ask a question because they would answer my questions before I even had to ask... The surgeon was amazing I had Dr. Matt Apel. The accommodations at the hotel we're Beyond what I could have asked for and they even provided transportation and all of the drivers were amazing! I'm extremely impressed with how seamlessly this experience was...its also impressive how so many people that work at Blossom Bariatrics that have actually had the surgery themselves. That alone built an extreme level of confidence in choosing blossom. I'll definitely be making the trip back here next year to show off all my progress! read more

My entire experience with this practice has been perfect! I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Blossom Bariatrics or Warm Springs surgery center. Dr. Matt Apel and Dr Bueno were both phenomenal. The physicians and the nurses at the center were very kind and caring. Seriously, Im not making this up. Everyone there was so nice to me, until I needed to walk after surgery... and they did their job.. they made me get up to walk. Walking was the best medicine for me. I was not happy, LOL!! Im a nurse too and I admit it... Im a terrible patient, but they treated me very well. I needed to get up and get moving, It was part of the deal. The center It is run like a well oiled machine. I have no complaints!! Even the drivers are sweet kind and caring people!!! It was a great experience! I had the worst chest pain and pressure in the immediate post op period. But I was prepared for it!! They told me it would happen and to get up and walk!! So i did!! It was a rough night, not gonna lie. But the nurse who came to check on me that night at the hotel was fabulous, personable, and knowledgeable. The companion care medical assistants were also Ah-Mazing!! Lori and Miriam were top notch. Im thrilled with my decision to goto Blossom Bariatrics!! Dr. Apel held my hand as i went to sleep... seriously, kind people here!! You are in great hands at BB and Warm Springs. And another shout out to Sharon and Kristin Cantrell. Great staff who care about the patients. And to so many other nurses who were so sweet and compassionate.... Update: following up the reply the company has left me. You can see they said they followed up with me to do the surgery for the price I was quoted "as it should have been". Mind you, this post doesnt use my real name to protect my own identity. So if you get quoted $6300 and then get slapped with anything price higher than that, might as well wait until they follow up to do it for $6300 because it seems like a pattern anyways. Another update: complete bullshit. I just got billed $3365.70. I didnt go through with the surgery and now it's going into collections. I guess it was for the anesthesia and some shit but I thought we already paid everything out of pocket for the EGD. I wish they would tell you EVERYTHING you get charged for. The doctors are so nice but the the rest of the staff is complete idiots. After wasting $10k+ of my insurance to do tests for revision they weren't able to help get me approved. United Healthcare denied the procedure due to inadequate evidence. I appealed and this office didn't want to do a physician to physician call with UHC. UHC was able to refer me to a preferred board certified provider and he was able to help me get approved in DAYS. They both said all Blossom did was drain my insurance. The worst part of all of this is the appointments. If you schedule me for a 14:00 follow-up I shouldn't leave your office after 17:00 for a simple little chat with the MD that could of happen over email or phone. Oh wait let's use HIPAA so we can bill the insurance for more $$$. DO NOT COME HERE if you don't want to get robbed! read more

Please understand this whole process before agreeing to surgery. my experience was I paid cash upfront $18999 for the gastric sleeve. The day of surgery I told the doctor I had a lot of scar tissue from a surgery 19 years ago. After waking up in the recovery room I was informed they could not complete the surgery due to scar tissue. I asked about a refund I was only refunded $5000 and was charged $13999 it took a month to get answers of why I was charged so much I felt I should have been refunded 50% I went on Mounjaro and lost 40 pounds so try other options first before surgery.
