These guys are awesome! Do yourself a favor and take your car here. I was in a monthly Airbnb in Somerset and really wasn't very familiar with the area. Due to my own mistake, trying to replace a part myself, I damaged something that stopped my car from working. I also had a coolant leak I couldn't figure out - I was in bad shape. I took my car mistakenly to "Memorial Chevrolet" and what a mistake that was! They let my car sit for weeks and didn't even look at it. Finally, after I called many times, they looked at the car and wanted to do $1,000 worth of repairs that I found out later had nothing to do with the problem I had. I finally ended up taking it to Blough's and they were SO NICE and looked at my car right away! They had the problem fixed the next day - the coolant issue too! And they charged a really reasonable price! To boot the owner of the shop picked me up because there are no Ubers, buses or cabs in Somerset. WOW what a GREAT experience! I was in a jam for weeks and they got me on the road right away and made the experience so nice. I could not be more pleased. Do yourself a favor - take your care here. read more

My car broke down on the highway during a trip from Philly to Pittsburgh. I trusted the tow truck driver to pick a good place to take my car, and he did a great job. Everyone at Blough's was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They had a garage full of cars, but put everything on hold to look at my car right away since they knew I was only traveling through the area. They explained the two things that could have been wrong with my car, and they made sure to start with the fastest and least expensive option first to try and get me back on the road as quickly as possible. They offered me delicious doughnuts and had the sweetest dog, Jake, onsite to keep me company while I waited for my car. Not only were they able to identify the problem, they had the parts onsite and were able to get me back on the road in under 2 hours, which was amazing. Fortunately, it worked out and I didn't have to stay in the area overnight, but if I'd had to I wouldn't have minded at all because I knew I was in good hands. They made the best of one of the worst things that can happen when you're on a road trip, and I couldn't be more grateful. read more

I had brought my newly purchased RV to Hickory Hollow Campground near Somerset, PA to have some solar equipment installed. Once settled in there I took my Jeep Wrangler to the local Walmart for some food and other stuff. The Jeep shuddered and vibrated under acceleration and I was frantic thinking I had messed something up while towing it. I Googled for a local mechanic, found Blough's, and saw they had plenty of good reviews. The next morning I drove there first thing, to find a parking area filled with cars. I was expecting to be told it'd be several days before they could look at it, but to my surprise they took my Jeep right in, explaining that they always tried to get travelers in and out. I was even more surprised when after about a half hour, they came out and told me I had a bad universal joint (normal wear and tear) and if I could wait an hour they'd have me back in the Jeep! And lastly, the bill was more than reasonable! Under $90 for the part and labor (which by my watch was 1.5 hours). So, big thumbs up for Blough's Automotive from me! read more

Traveling from NJ to MI for a family vacations, with 2 young kids and a dog, started off well. Until truck troubles suddenly. We looked up the closest shop with happened to be Blough's. We managed to limp to their shop in miserable moods that were instantly turned around by everyone who worked there. We were welcomed in with our dog to get out of the hot sun, I believe it may have been the owner (I am not sure) actually took the time to learn the kids names, give them donuts/chips, and just interact with them. He also made our dogs day by showing her attention. What could have instantly turned our vacation in to a miserable trip and turning back around to just go home, was amazingly turned around and we were able to have a safe travel to finish our vacation. We can't thank everyone enough for what they did, and how well they treated us. I only wish we had a small shop local to us with the customer service they provided! While traveling to Somerset from Harrisburg on the PA Turnpike on a Friday evening, my 2013 Ford Escape suddenly lost power and refused to accelerate much above 50 MPH. I found a hose to the turbocharger had become disconnected and tried to reattach it, only to have it fall off again. When I got to Somerset, I stopped to eat and then work on the car to get the hose reattached. Jason Blough of Blough Automotive stopped and offered to help, and we confirmed the hose was reattached. Jason offered to take a look at it the next morning. After calling Jason the next morning, I took the vehicle over to his shop. Turns out, his shop is closed on Saturdays and he came in to make sure the vehicle was ok to drive. Turns out I did not have the hose on correctly; Jason took the time to reattach it properly and helped me learn more about my vehicle. All repair work was completed at a very reasonable cost! Our car broke down on the turnpike in May after a great weekend attending our daughter's graduation in Pittsburgh. A bummer end to the weekend! We ended up needing to stay overnight in Somerset because we live in the Philly area. Turns out my alternator went bad. Blough's Automotive was great to work with and quickly got us on our way the next afternoon. About a month later my alternator went out again! Very frustrating. I had it repaired again locally. I contacted Blough's and they were so professional and helpful. They went the extra mile to get me a refund for the part from the original supplier. Both Roger and Jason are truly customer service oriented. I hope I don't break down on the turnpike again, but if I do and it's near Somerset I know who to call...Blough's Automotive! read more

Very kind and generous mechanics. I asked who the best mechanic was in town, my van was towed, after under the hood smoke was coming out from under it, on the PA Toll Rd. The driver of the tow truck took me to Blough's. My daughter, who was physically challenged, was treated with such care. Very professional, very clean facility and the relics from the past made the office area very interesting to sit in and or browse around. I ask YAH to Bless them for showing so much loving kindness to me and my daughter. My van was eventually towed home. Hands down the best auto shop I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot). We were stranded in Somerset overnight when the car overheated and they fit us in first thing the following morning. While I feel most prey on unknowledgeable customers and see it as an opportunity to charge/repair whatever, it could not have been more different here. After a thorough check, they determined we could safely make it home and recommended that we take it to the dealership once we make it back since the car was likely still under warranty - all while providing tips on what to do if we run into the same problems. When our car engine stopped on the turnpike far from home, we had to make quick decisions on next steps. Our tow driver highly recommended this shop, and insisted this was the best place in the area. We took his recommendation and were dropped off late at night. Our friends so kindly picked us up and we figured we'd call first thing in the morning to see what's going on. Not only did Blough's run diagnostics and take care of us on short notice, but they also worked with us for a Sunday pickup so we wouldn't have to make an extra trip to pick up our car. 3 hours into a 10 hour road trip, the EPC light came on in my car. A google search brought me to Blough's Automotive late afternoon, where Jason gave his best educated guess to the problem. He was able to get the part first thing the next morning and had me on my way in less than an hour. I made it to my destination in a smooth-running car. My situation could have certainly been taken advantage of, but Jason is top notch, very honest and reasonably priced. If this was my hometown, he would be my mechanic. I can't recommend Blough's highly enough! My blinking check engine light came on while on the turnpike while I was an hour and a half away from home. Despite the fact that it meant they had to stay late on an already busy day before the 4th of July, they squeezed me in for an appointment There prices were super affordable and the service was top notch. We had our radiator crack on I-76 over Memorial Day weekend, and had to get towed. The guy who towed us from the highway asked us a few questions about what kind of shop we would like to go to, and he suggested Blough's. Unfortunately, since it was a holiday, there wasn't anyone at the shop when we arrived past 5pm, but Jason called us first thing in the morning and they were able to replace the radiator and the battery (it had died as well) within 3 hours. I needed front end alignments on 2 of my vehicles. I live 20 miles away, so scheduling could have caused me a lot of extra travel.
