I went to Blow Bar this past Saturday to get my hair done for my bridal shower as I typically am not the best at hair and really wanted to ensure my hair looked okay for my shower. I went in for a Dry Style and it was everything I wanted and more. My appointment was at 9am but I got there a few minutes early and they were able to take me right away which I really appreciated. My hair took a total of 25 minutes which blew me away given I do have a lot of hair but it was absolutely beautiful and everything I wanted. I wish I remembered the name of the girl who did my hair as she was awesome - super professional from start to finish and even stopped a few times to get an idea on if I liked the progress and for any feedback, if necessary. I went to Blow Bar to get my hair done--this was my first time using their services, my daugher has been their client before. While I did get my hair styled, the curls unfortunately fell out within an hour. I called Blow Bar, and despite it being a busy Saturday, Michael kindly accommodated me. He offered to either redo the style or credit. My hair is naturally curly, thin, and frizzy--definitely not easy to work with--but Michael took the time to restyle it. I'm so obsessed with Blow Bar! It's my new favorite place to go for blowouts. I'm a blowout regular at my spot in the city near home, but was in search of a suburban blowout spot near my work. After some searching online, I found Blow Bar's good reviews and am so glad I did! I've been to Blow Bar a couple of times now and will definitely be back. They do an excellent job and both ladies I've had have done exactly what I asked for. It looked awesome! Plus they were friendly without being intrusive and just all in all was incredibly happy with my hair. Basic blowouts are $35 which is perfect pricing, but they have some extras they can throw in for an upcharge like braids and such. I haven't had an issue getting an appointment after work and it's so convenient scheduling online. Of course you can always call, but this old millennial is all about online convenience. I was a little hesitant to book an appt after seeing some of the reviews but decided to give them a try, I was in town for an event and wanted awesome hair. I booked online, received text and email confirmations, super easy. Grace was my stylist, she did a great job! I just walked out after witnessing one of the most unprofessional and unkept salons I've ever been to. I came in at 3:40pm asking if they had time to get me in earlier for my 4pm... she said yes. Then the one girl was in the bathroom for 10 mins, she came out so then I could use it. There's nobody else here besides 2 employees. When I get out of the bathroom, they were washing each others hair at the basin. I wait another 10 mins then they say I can come back to start my service at the wash bin now covered in long black hairs from the employees playing salon together. I booked this place for 4 blow drys since we were going to Chicago for a family wedding and had no clue where to go. This was close to our hotel so we went there. This place is cute and staff was friendly. Shampoo was great and our blowouts were wonderful. The only irritating thing is that their mirrors are so high that you can only see the top of your forehead when sitting in their chairs. Id like to see what they are doing in case I want it done differently but was not able to. They need to really lower their mirrors but other than that, they did a great job. read more

meh.... updo epic fail.... Called several weeks ahead for an updo appointment for a wedding. I arrived on time... but had to wait about 20 minutes before they could take me. Was told it was due to high school homecoming and unexpected walk ins... High school Homecoming on Labor Day weekend?????? Unlikely! Also pre-arranged to have lashes applied but I was told they "ran out" of their lashes and didn't have anymore??? I had to call my husband to go to get lashes at a local store so that that they would then put on for me. They didn't charge me for the application fee of 10$.... which was great... but the lash set cost almost $25... !!! As for the updo... when I left it looked beautiful. It was exactly what i was hoping it would be. Sadly....After about 90 minutes pieces of hair that weren't properly pinned already start to fall. All night It got worse. I had to constantly go to the bathroom and try and fix it. Not what I wanted to be doing after paying nearly 100$ for the service. I absolutely loved coming here. My hairstylist was Marcella, she did such a wonderful job. I was a little bit nervous because I have thick, wavy hair and it can be a lot to handle. Needs major updating. Feels like a 70s salon and hair balls in all of the corners. Staff mean mug you the entire time and always talk about being hungover. Always double booking. Had a horrible experience with an updo back in December. Bought the package where you get 2 blowouts a month. I was assured that they don't expire. Suddenly I was told that they did expire and "maybe I didn't get the email". I definitely didn't get the email. Now I'm out hundreds of dollars and blowouts. I was blown away by how amazing Michael was. I walked in to ask a question, I wanted to get a dry style so I asked if it could be done as I have a lot of curly hair. This is where I met Michael, who advised me not to do that because it would burn my hair. I was a little disappointed because I was having a crappy day shopping and figured, I'd lift my spirits with a blow out, but dry was all they had open. Michael said give him a minute he'd see what he could do. He said I'll have to wash you but I'll take you! I was elated, he did it which I am sure was his break. I came from out of town and I chose this place because it had really good reviews and I just got the best blow dry and flat iron I've gotten in my life so grateful that I came here my hair looks beautiful and I'm going to a big event and it was important for my hair to look great! I had my hair and makeup done by blow bar last weekend for my wedding. They also did all of my bridal party and 3 mothers equaling out to 8 people total. We had to be ready by noon and they were more than happy to come out and get started at 7 am with us. The stylists were fun and helped each of us have a hair/makeup style that was fitting to who we are and how we look. I came here on the day of my baby shower for a blow out. I came in with bangs and a middle part and I asked for her to round brush my hair and give it some volume. Not sure why the stylist took it upon herself to give me a dramatic side part and try to blow dry my bangs into that side part. She said she was done and I informed her that I have bangs & she was like oh whoops and then tried to blow dry them back out of that side part and they just looked like uneven random pieces of strings on my forehead. I paid $45 for something that I had to just go home and completely redo myself. My best friend brought me to Blow Bar as the final stop in my birthday pampering extravaganza of a day. We both got our hair and makeup done. First and foremost, I was blown away by the pricing as it compares to competitors downtown - fabulous, and you can get your makeup for for just $25 as an add on. Makes a great spot for special occasions! I wished for my hair to be curled and mentioned I was wanted it to last considering I was there on a Thursday and wanted it to stay for a date the following day. My hair looked great for majority of the night but looked severely impacted by product at the end and I was forced to wash it the following day. The makeup by Franci was great. I asked for simple and she definitely delivered. My only concerns with the makeup was if she used clean brushes as my friend had her makeup done before I did and Franci had a set of brushes in a container she would choose out of but I didn't see her spray them clean which is something I am very germaphobe about. I also didn't like the lipstick color she chose to tie up my look, I didn't feel it went well with it. I would've liked if she had consulted with me prior to applying it. My friend noted that she had asked her if she had brought her own color but she hadn't so it's possible she made that same assumption for me. All in all we were both satisfied with our experiences and I would most definitely recommend Blow Bar to those in the area. I came here in a pinch and the guy who works there is A COMPLETE AND UTTER MESS!!! He DOES NOT know how to do hair WHATSOEVER. When I was done with him it looked like I had just walked out of the shower. Except my hair was damaged... He kept getting his rings stuck in my hair and did not know how to use any products including curlers or a curling iron. He wouldn't even be admitted to beauty school. All in all a complete disaster. The worst reviews I read were about customer service. I just needed hair and makeup done for a wedding. I hadn't done makeup since pre covid so I needed help! And figured why not since I thought I'd treat myself and get my hair blown out. Makeup was bad. I could've done a better job. I felt bad so I just pretended to like it. I took it off at home and redid it. She didn't cover my red acne spots. No highlighter or bronzer. The eyes were uneven and bad. It's unfortunate cuz the online pictures are beautiful. But clearly, she only can do one style of makeup and couldn't do anything good on me. My hairstylist was okay. Very nice. But I would've been better off just straightening my hair for this wedding. I'll never go here again. Especially considering I spent over $100 for something I could've (and did) done better. I'd post before and after pics but I don't want to bash this place more than I just did. People have had good experiences. I just wasn't one of them. read more

First time guest.... I was getting a blowout for a wedding I was attending that evening. I was so excited to get my blowout because they always look fabulous on my hair, unfortunately it was a disappointing outcome. I do have a lot of hair but I've had many blowouts after hair services and have watched hundreds of videos to see the fabulous outcomes. I just asked for some volume on top and some wave/bounce on the rest of my hair, very common request. I wasn't asking for curls or some unrealistic style, however, it was literally flat before I even left the salon. I got home and had to completely redo my hair, not what I planned seeing that I had a wedding to get to. I am going to let the pictures do most of the talking about how awesome the stylists are at this hidden gem. I've had my hair done by Megan, Sandra & Monika. I am such an easy going person that I let the stylists choose what they want do with my hair; after all, they are the experts. My one request is that my hair is out of my face. They have never failed me. Plus, this salon is over 30 miles away from my residence & I still bought a membership to the salon. I love that they are so transparent with their services. As soon as you walk inside they have a chalkboard sign clearly detailing their services. Some of my favorite ones are getting a dry style done or having them do a scalp treatment for an extra $10 (which you should always spring for because who doesn't like getting their head massaged & ladies let's face it; we deserve to take care of ourselves because we cannot take care of others until we take care of ourselves first). It's funny because between my place of residence and the salon I pass up a bunch of salons that do blow outs and those places do not compare. There is a salon that just opened in Naperville and I remember going there and when I finally decided it was time to wash my hair, I realized that they had burned my ends. I was mortified. My hair felt like it was fried and a horse's tail; which lead me to have to cut my hair . I don't like to bad mouth other salons but their name will be T.F. and they have dominated the suburban scene. I guess they also like to tell you that you need 10 friends in order to help make you look so gorgeous and that they want to treat you like family. But with such a big blueprint you do not feel at home or part of any family. I love going to Blow Bar. I am family there. They know my first name and I know their first names. I even know the owner, Bree, she is incredible. In this time of age. I like to support small business owners especially women. It isn't always about expanding and trying to flood the market with your business. It's about developing a culture at work that makes your staff proud to be a stylist at your salon because once that happens business will flourish. How you say. That type of rapport the stylists develop with their clients provides the salon with constant income. Ladies want to be there. They feel beautiful coming out of the salon and they recommend the salon to a number of other clients. A little kindness goes a long way. I want to apologize for clients that may have booked any service at this salon and maybe did not have the best time there. But please remember we are all human & you have no idea how many blow outs or special occasion up dos the stylist has done that morning. Just be kind to others and you will see how far that goes. Pay it forward. So please think twice before you write a nasty review. Other people read your reviews and already dismiss the place without giving it a chance. Let people make their own opinions. But with a review that has negative reviews people always remember that and will go out of their way to avoid that business. Please give people a chance to experience the salon for themselves. Went in thinking my blow out was $35. Stylist didn't tell me it was $10 extra to straighten it nor did she tell me it was $5 extra for the product they had to put in it. I do have long and thick hair and she did spend a lot of time on it but going to check out thinking it was going to be $35 and ending up $50, made me angry. The stylists SHOULD explain the services are extra. Considering I've been to just about every blow dry bar out there (the most popular being dry bar, ten friends, etc) I've never been charged extra for my hair to be straightened or them to use product they need to use anyways for the service. I will not be going back. I never write reviews because I've worked in customer service and typically think reviews tend to exaggerate but I'm not exaggerating and wouldn't spend the time writing this otherwise. Customer service was sub par as the receptionist didn't seem to care that I hadn't been explained ANYTHING REGARDING ADDED PRICES. Considering this place is right around the corner from other more popular blow dry bars, they might want to be more upfront with prices. UPDATE: Not even ten minutes after posting the review I got a call from the owner, Bree, who apologized for the miscommunication and even went above and beyond to refund me the $15 I hadn't been informed about. Sandra, Isabel & Stella have all done my hair and the blowouts last well into the next day! Arrived at salon was not greeted just told to go and sit down and then was asked if I really wanted her to wash blow dry and then braided (which is what I had entered on appointment ) halfway through drying she started asking the other stylist how to braid.... REALLY.... if you make an appointment for braiding you would hope they would have someone that's knows. Just had her blow dry the hair and told her to let it go. This is the second time I've been here. The first I was very very happy! The second time I was a bit disappointed in some areas. My stylist (can't remember her name) looked very grungy and not professional (I'm talking wet hair in a bun and sweats). I told myself looks don't mean anything so I stayed positive. Through out the shampoo and blowout my stylist was making some small talk but she seemed negative and some of the things she said made me uncomfortable. She also could have spent some more time on me but it was New Year's Eve so she probably was busy.
