While everything was closed I was going crazy because my hair was out of control! A friend recommended this place, so I called and was able to receive a reservation. They were very nice and the young lady who cut my hair was awesome. She was so sweet. She had a room of her own that she kept very clean, so you were only in the room with her. I wanted a cut and was able to snag an appointment with Kylie- she was awesome, she nailed the layers I asked for and took the extra time to curl and style my hair after. One for me, and one for each of my 4 brides maids. I also had my make up done. Over the phone, I was told that up-dos were as follows: $30 for hair styles where the hair is down $35 for up-dos $40 for difficult hair (really long or thick etc) I was told that they rarely charge $40, and anyone with shorter hair shouldn't worry). The price of makeup was $40 plus $5 more for fake eyelashes. I passed this info along to my bridesmaids and they were all okay for the price. The service was really great. The staff was friendly and worked with a finicky bridesmaid who insisted her hair be redone. I brought in a picture of my hairstyle and they did a beautiful job. I explained that I would like natural looking make up, just enough to accent my features and photograph well. I was very happy with the out come of the make up. I got several compliments on both the styling and the makeup. All of my bridesmaids seemed to be happy as well. The reason for the 3 stars is pricing. Just about All of my bridesmaids were charged $40, despite the fact that 3 of them just had their hair curled. They were charged as follows: Long curled hair- $40 Chin length curled hair- $35 Complicated up do- $40 Short curled hair, slightly pulled back- $40 My hair, curled then pinned up into the style- $50 Make-up- $45 (as quoted) When it came time to pay, the person at the register was running around trying to figure out what price we had been quoted, "What did you tell them, what was the price?" It seemed like they didn't have a set price... Everyone was charged $5-$10 over the price quoted. They did a great job, but the price was more than we planned. read more

I got a layered haircut and I am very happy with it. My hair feels better than it has in years. I wasn't sure about the pricing.. Thought my hair would be more than $20 for sure but it was only $15. Lynette cut my hair and she was informative and gave me some pointers about haircare. Unfortunately, she dropped a comb while cutting my hair and picked it up then continued to use it on my hair. So gross. I'm not into the five second rule. She should have grabbed a new comb. I didn't say anything because I didn't want her to mess up my bangs. Do not go here to get your eyebrows waxed. I had very full nicely shaped eyebrows when I went into this place. The girl that did my eyebrows, can't remember her name (some blonde), completely ruined them! She thinned them out terribly, gave them a horrible boxy uneven shape and even tore some skin from the brow bone area. Please avoid at all cost. They will ruin your eyebrows that you worked so hard to grow out. The only pleasant experience I've had in this salon was Kelly Oates. She cuts hair so beautifully and is so friendly. Had an appointment with Cecy to get my nails done. Had texted her the day before asking what the address of where she was located and she texted back. Later that night she sent me a reminder that I had an appointment for the next day and because I didn't reply, she gave my appointment away. Had the appointment for 2 weeks and can't reschedule due to a full week load. Very dissatisfied and if I could give no stars I would. Very unprofessional. Called this salon regarding airbrush tanning. Spoke with a lady who collected my information and told me the person who does the tanning would call me. This was last Monday, by Thursday I still did not receive a call. I ended up calling the salon again, spoke with someone again who told me they were going to call the person who does the spraying and call me back later on that day. It is now Sunday and I still haven't even received a courtesy call back from the salon or the airbrush lady! I feel this is very unprofessional and have since found another salon who called me back within an hour. read more

I walked into this place after trying two other nearby places, one was closed, one had only one stylist working and was too busy. I'm new here so the only info I have is what I see in Yelp reviews and although I had seen the name Blown Away, I couldn't remember what was said in the reviews. As soon as I walked in, they gave me to a young girl who I believe was just on her way out to lunch but she had no problem taking me. Now, I have to say, I was extremely nervous as I'm somewhat particular about my hair as I wear it a bit longer than most men and they just gave me to a VERY young girl who looked like she wasn't old enough to be out of High School. Had I been braver, I might have declined, but I'm glad I didn't. She took her time, I'm guessing because she wanted to make sure she got it right due to possible lack of experience, I'm not sure. She seemed to know what she was doing so it was probably me being paranoid. She told me her name but I'm not sure I remember what it was, possibly Giselle. She was rather quite/shy but definitely polite. After the cut, she washed my hair which I appreciate so that bits of hair doesn't fall over my face and shirt afterwards and I can go about my day. The biggest test for me is what it looks like the next day and days after that. I was very pleased with the outcome. On top of that, the price was extremely fair. I'm from the Bay Area so I'm used to prices double of what I was charged. Even in the last few years in Albuquerque I was charged more. As far as the place itself, it's somewhat large. They even have a couple of couches in the center of the room. The decor, I didn't pay attention. That's not something I give much attention. It seemed to be a somewhat popular place, especially with men, although chairs aren't so close together that you feel you're on top of each other. I will definitely visit this place again as long as I'm still in the area. read more

OK so I have been going here for a while and my awesome stylist is Kelly, but here is the problem I wanted hair extension for my sister n laws wedding and Kelly suggested that I have the owner Lynette purchase them and put them in for me( the extension were tape in ones) I went to the saloon to have my hair color matched and was told that the price would be $200 for the extensions and $ 50 an hour to put them in. When it came time for my appointment the hair extensions were not a mix of brown and blond like we discussed and they were now $ 220. The color did not match my hair at all, they were put in wrong and the extensions were like Barbie hair, they sucked and Lynette said they were real human hair there was no way it was real hair. An hour after I got home and tried to style my hair two tracks fell out. Called the saloon and let them know what happened. Lynette could not get me in until Thursday at 6pm this was Monday. Next day I just put it in a pony tail and went about my day. On the 3rd day I washed my hair and as I'm brushing it half the extensions fell out. I had a graduation to go to later that night and called to get some help because my hair looked terrible, I was told that Lynette could not fit me in at all that day. I then went to a saloon in Modesto 2717 and had a girl named Mandy help me. At this point I was so upset and in tears. Mandy and a few other hairdresser took one look at the extensions and said that they were very poor quality and did not even think that they were human hair. Once she began to look at how they were put in she about died she said as an owner of a saloon you should know what you are doing. Lynette did not sandwich the extensions with my hair she basically taped them to my head. Needless to say I had to have them taken out. Lynette would not reimbursed me for the cheap fake extensions or compensate me for anything she pretty much was like o well come back and I'll redo them. No way in hell would I let you touch my hair again. The extensions were horrible and I was not about to put them in. Mandy got me way better hair extensions and did not charge me to put them in. Lynette sucks at helping people and should never be a saloon owner. Go back to school and learn how to do extensions so you don't ruin anyone else hair. read more

My 4 daughters and I have been going to Blown Away Salon for the last 5 years and absolutely love it!! We have very thick, course, curly hair which makes it difficult to find someone who can cut and manage this type hair. Lynette can do just that - and more!! Lynette is an expert at coloring and recommending new products as they become available. My 17 year old and I just recently had the Keratin Complex treatment applied and it is amazing. Throughout the years we have tried just about every type of straightening/relaxing/smoothing treatment out there and this by far out does every product we've tried. People immediately noticed the difference in my hair and how smooth and silky my hair was. Many people also asked if I had had my hair thinned after the treatment - I didn't - that's just how good this product worked. I love how easy our hair is to manage now. I had never used Social Living (and will NEVER again) so I tried it for this salon. It said:$55 for hair cut and color. So, I called the woman to make an appointment prior to paying. While on the phone, I paid the $55 and made the appointment. She said that she tells everyone to not use Social Living because she would honor that price. Too late, I paid. I got to the salon and said I wanted one color for my hair and hair cut. Now, the reality comes out. Oh, that is not for one color, that is for highlights. I said I don't get highlights but always get one color (and usually pay around $65 for a haircut and color). Okay, so now she said that it was an additional $45! I was PISSED! She said, "do you feel comfortable with that?" I told her I had NO choice, otherwise throw out the $55 I just paid for this friggin salon! On top of that, all over the salon there are signs that said PAY 20% TIP ON THE ORIGINAL PRICE (which would have been $155!!!!!!)! How tacky is that to post these signs? Unbelievable! When I saw those tacky signs, I was ready to walk out. The woman then cut way too much off of my hair. I got the same color that I would have received from the salon I normally go to: Heads Up but with a HUGE price tag! I will NEVER step foot in there again and I suggest that no one else does!
