Im so excited to finally have come here. Blu Note has been on my list to visit for a couple years now. We don't have many jazz clubs in Columbus and I'm so glad this one did not disappoint. It's a smaller place but with a surprising amount of seating. All of the workers were super friendly and made sure we were enjoying our time. The musicians play from 8pm-11pm I believe. They also had a decent drink menu, with non-alcoholic options and a good menu as well. We only ordered the mozz sticks so I cant attest to the rest of their food but the mozzarella sticks were yummy. I also got the non alcoholic lemonade drink and it was pretty good. The music was great and lively. They even had a guest come up and sing a song near the end of their performance. I'm super excited to go back and maybe try some of their food options as well. read more

Ok so this was a cool experience. I enjoyed the music and the experience. I ordered Brussels sprouts and fries and sadly I was disappointed because my order consisted of mostly leaves and probably 2 Brussels that were cut in fours. The flavor had the potential to be good but I didn't get enough to really judge. The fries were really good so I would recommend those. The other people in my group ordered chicken wings and another person ordered jambalaya. No complaints from any of them. The drinks were also pretty good. Lastly our waitress was cool. If you looking for great music and great food. This is the spot. I feel like it's a hidden gem. I have more videos than pictures. The service was amazing. It's just a small place and it can be a little tight. The lamb was good. The brisket so good They have a full bar which was amazing There's a charge for the band which makes sense. The KC burnt ends are fabulous. The greens are nice and moist just add some hot sauce and maybe vinegar. Service is good parking is horrible. Live music night is a must. I wouldn't just go for dinner. However maybe drinks . Get there very early to get a good seat for live music . There is a cover. Get the Mo Butta blu cake. It will make you go home and smack your grandma because she never made it for you. Trust me. read more

Ok we, my friend and I, were recommended this place and WOW!!! It was a Tuesday night and we got in there late, but the servers couldn't have been more gracious and attentive! And the music was fabulous. But oh the Jerk Lamb chops! Outstanding and melted in your mouth! The shrimp and grits were so so good and fried brussel sprouts were delish!!! She took the Blues cake home but I'd be surprised if it wasn't absolutely amazing just like everything else! read more

I went here for a random date night and it was a really good experience. The waitress, Morgan, was really nice and helpful. We ordered the garlic parmesan wings, french fries, lamp chops,cabbage and greens mix and candied yams. Everything was pretty darn tasty. There's a cover for the live band. It was$5 when we went. Drinks were good and everything was decently priced. There's a front and back patio and screen on the back patio to see the band and you can hear them from inside as it's a pretty small place. Definitely we'll be back. read more

Nice spot! I was visiting from Houston and looking for a live jazz spot, I was not disappointed. It is not very big but does the job. I visited on a Friday night about 8:30. The band played to about 10is doors closed at 12. There was no cover and they do have a full bar short of bear and wine. There is some outdoor seating few tables around the walls and in front of the stage with some seating at the bar. Stage is large enough for a 3-4 person band with 4 being tight. The do have food but we did not have any. Prices was not bad two beverages each (4) and an appetizer was little over $50. I recommend and would visit again. Now for eye candy. Outside of the bartenders you need to bring your own! read more

First time here!! Won't be my last!! For starters there's not a lot of parking but there's a mini plaza next door. Small cozy intimate establishment. There's a 10 dollar cover charge per person that they add to your bill ( covers live jazz band) My friends said their drinks was amazing and they both had like 3 each lol (I'm the DD) not really a large menu...I had the shrimp Alfredo yummy (small portion) Kisha had the chicken Alfredo ( there was no more jerk chicken she said it was good but not enough sauce Alayna had lamp chops she said they were good she convinced us to get some!! I had the jerk lamb chops omg they were absolutely delicious!!! They had the plain ones and we all agreed they were a 10/10!!! Garlic mash potatoes was good too string beans was seasoned!! The band played their heart out!! I actually thought they were gonna go over R&B songs instrumental but they played real jazz I guess!! Very talented the guy on the trumpet was awesome. The guy on the cello was fabulous all of them were amazing and seem to be enjoying themselves!!! We got there around 830 left around 1115!! Grown up crowd ~ thank goodness Our waiter was nice and knowledgeable the whole staff greeted us upon entrance and said good night on our way out!! I need to post pics but honestly I hadn't ate all day and didn't even think about taking a pic when the food came ‍ I will do better I love food!!! I have heard great things about the Blu Note Jazz Cafe and wanted to try out a local black owned restaurant. It is a small, intimate space that host musicians that play jazz. The decor gives you the feel of being in the Harlem Renaissance era. The bar is stocked with all types of liquor. The restaurant has some signature blu drinks to choose from, however, I got the Henry McKenna neat. For dinner, I got the wings, Mac & Cheese, and Baked Beans. The Carolina gold sauce on the wings was on point! I really enjoyed those and the sides. A wonderful place that I look forward to going back in the future. read more

Talk about a hidden gem in Columbus! I absolutely love Blu Note. My fiancée has a friend who plays in one of the bands here regularly, so I've been a few times. The vibes are always immaculate. It's so cozy here and you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. The bands that play here are really fantastic, so you get to enjoy top notch music for typically a very low cover charge. They also have really delicious drinks at a fair price (and I've heard the food is really good as well)! Not to mention the bartenders are super friendly and outgoing. I'm surprised more people in the city don't know about this place. Add it to your list to try, you won't regret it! read more

I have been meaning to visit this place. Finally got the chance and was not disappointed. First overall impression was the place was nice and cozy. Loved the small, subtle things that played into the theme. There was blue lighting strategically place to give you that underground Jazz club feel. I would suggest making a reservation, it can get filled pretty quick. Make the reservation via email, it's actually very quick. I received a reply within 15/20mins of my email with all the details for the evening. Seating is kind of communal style, you could sit next to another couple/party. There is not really a bad seat in the house. Every spot, you can hear the music so well. The bar- As of now they are still working on the liquor license. They are ready though, the bar is a very nice size. The plan is March they will have the license. For now, it is BYOB (or wine) which was awesome. $10 cover and you can bring your own alcohol. Glasses are provided! Once thing I appreciated, even though it's BYO they still get you proper glasses, open the wine/beer and even pour for you if you'd like. People- Our waitress was Alana- and she was absolutely amazing. She was informative of the menu and personable. It is a family run business, and it moved very well. Did not seem like this is their first business. The crowd was very mixed, which I liked. Very friendly and laid back...nice and grown. The food- Great! Shrimp and Grits with andouille sausage. Grits cooked perfect and the food was hot. Fried fish was season well and was hot. Music-Was great. Since it is a cozy spot, really feels like you are able to connect with the bands. This is a perfect place for date night, just drinks after dinner or just to take in some great Jazz! read more

This place is a hidden gem! The cafe looks tiny from the outside but has decent space when you walk in. The lighting is dim but it's candles lit and gives that jazz vibe. There is a cover charge that is added on your bill for the band per person just an FYI but it's soooo worth it. The drinks are nice one half of the menu all drinks start with blu . They are mixed perfectly, the other half the drinks start with black and they are a lot stronger. Now the food...... the deviled eggs were really good. They didn't have anything extra on them but they were perfect. The baked beans had a kick but a good one. Not too sweet not too spicy. Mashed Potatoes were just okay not a huge fan. The lamb chops were cook just right. Overall 5 stars! Service was great too! Just remember it's a live band so don't go if you want to talk all night you will end up having to scream because of the music, the purpose is to go and enjoy the music. read more

Went to the Blu Note for the first time the other night and I absolutely loved it. We went for dinner and the live jazz and it was great. Nex Level was performing and the music was fun and lively. The food was good, but I'd say the atmosphere with the music is the reason people will come back again and again. Place has a tight squeeze on sitting. Very uncomfortable. Jazz band was ok. Didn't mind paying the $10 cover charge for it, but I wasn't impressed. Service could be better. Waited too long for my check after I assisted that we were ready to go to the server. Honestly once the server realize we wasn't interested in the food, he wasn't as interesting in checking on us. Then not to mention they charge us an uncharged for a drink, when my husband clearly stated he wanted his drink on the rocks. Wasn't worth disputing. Not worth the 2 hour drive to come to this place. Columbus is one of our favorite weekend getaways, and we grow to love it more with each visit. Vibrant, diverse and eclectic, this city fits our style to a tee. We love exploring new restaurants and venues and The Blu Note Jazz Cafe is one that we were delighted to have found. If you even have a passing interest in jazz music, this place is a gem and a must. It is a fairly small room, and that adds to the intimacy of being right up close to the musicians. No points deducted for not having beer or wine, but they offer top shelf cocktails, many with a "blue" theme. This will be on our list of return visits next time we are in Columbus!! read more

Ambiance lovely, jazz fantastic. 1st time there Niv 26 with a few lady friends. Server was Qua who was very friendly & people oriented & said she was new afterwards. She couldn't get orders right My friend and I ordered chicken basket with sauce on the side. We both told her our orders were wrong but accepted & paid anyway. Informed her all orders were separate payment. When she brought bills all $10 band fees were on 1 persons receipt. Had to ask twice to get our table cleaned. We finally moved all finished items to one end of the 2 tables we had. Want to see your business succeed. Suggest having her pay attention to detail & to check on customers during their stay. This is a black owned bar on Main St that I've never seen before, but I'm so glad I went! I went on a Friday with my partner to see a friend, Robert Mason and his trio play some jazz. The bar is small but cozy. The music was amazing (Robert plays live every Wednesday, check him out y'all!) And the food was fiyah!! I had shrimp and grits with a side of Mac and cheese and both were soooo flavorful! The grits also had sausage and they were a bit spicy but still so good. If you like live jazz, want to support a black owned business, and want some amazing food, do yourself a favor and stop by! read more

Finally a place I can listen to music, eat drink and chill! A true jazz cafe. The music is good. I will come here more often. The the food is very good and nice choices especially for a cafe. As a jazz fan I am so happy to discover this place. My wife and I recently celebrated our 10th at the Blu . Super cool vibe. The band was fantastic. The food was great (order the Kansas City Burnt tips appetizer). And I have to say we eat out a lot and the service we received was the best restaurant service we have experienced in 3 years. The waiter also brought out cocktail sauce that had a little kick to it. I ordered the Filet Mignon 8 oz. I had to ask for the price because it sad market price. It was embarrassing but I didn't want a big surprise. Our steak came with 2 sides! I ordered the side salad and the garlic spinach. My husband ordered the Porterhouse 20 oz. With the Ceasar salad and baked potato. We also ordered the Mac and cheese side. The salads were not the best. The Ceasar salad was super fishy. The side salad had way too much blue cheese. Nothing disappointed but my personal favorite was the shrimp cocktail. Next came the entrees and once again, everything was great and cooked perfectly. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. We had to finish up with dessert and cocktails, especially when we saw a brandy Alexander on the menu. This is one of the best restaurants in Columbus on our opinion.

They don't have a kitchen, so eat before you get here. Had no issues with the quality of our drinks or the service. Everyone was very polite. I was in for a Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras show. Saw two bands, the Whirlybirds and Big Mouth Brass Band. Both were excellent. The acoustics in this place are crazy good- not expected based on the diveyness of the joint. Ended up getting street parking right in front of the place. Only disappointment, the show was billed as doors at 6:00, show at 6:30. The band had no intention on starting before 7:00.

First time my wife and daughter stopped before our daughter headed overseas for two years in the Peace Corps. Scotty''s is super close and convenient to the airport. Scotty learned of the imminent departure and came with cookies and treats for the long flight! And now this morning it was another airport drop off. It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that. Seriously, I can declare victory for finding something I'd never had before. Never would have found it without the nudge. Had to cut myself off with all the coffee offers. Just a great vibe. You rarely see a 4.9 rating and even more rarely that high based on so many reviews. But I understand why - like in so many things in life, it is about the people. And the joy they bring to every conversation. And I will just add, in this age when some would divide us, this dining room is filled with all manner of folks, reveling together over food in fellowship.
