I wish it was bigger. I know this is a small, boutique style Goodwill outfit. It just didn't have the more quirky and unusual finds I was hoping to "discover". I believe this is my 4th possibly 5th Blue experience and I have to say, I don't like what I see here. Blue appears to be the product of someone sifting through donations and determining these items can sell retail. Ceramic mugs at $12.99? This is Goodwill and if someone gave you that for free, why are you charging $13 for an item that would be a max of $3 at a reputable thrift shop and truth be told, most thrift shops sell mugs for $.99. I saw a few things here I liked, but when I saw the pricing, I just laughed, I wouldn't pay their asking price if the same items were new. I was also offended while attempting to shop here. I was the only one in the store and the woman was doing something in the corner. As I starting browsing near the entrance, I felt crowded and when I looked up, the woman working there, had apparently decided to spruce up the area I was looking at. It was a poorly timed and placed attempt to discourage shoplifting, but I am a mature, educated man with more than enough money and if I had to guess, I donate thousands of dollar's worth of merchandise to Goodwill annually and are a little peeved then they don't provide coupons or vouchers for large donations. Actually, in the last year, I started donating to a place in Bellevue, they give either 10% or 15% off your bill when you donate and even though, I don't always find anything to purchase, at least I know my donation is appreciated. This woman made me so uncomfortable following me around, I left. It was a nasty atmosphere and not typical of the once Hippy Vegan vibe I would get visiting Olympia. Shame on your Goodwill, I expect far better from you in many ways. read more

Wonderful selection of smart clothes that you can get for cheap because second hand. I got two coats which were in excellent condition and good value. I also found very good purses and exquisite condition shoes. The clothes can be tried on for size and fit. The staff have obviously curated these clothes pretty well because they are in very good shape and look elegant and smart. The racks are just small enough to make it easy to rifle through. This experience constrasts with the general Goodwill stores' warehouse style presentation, which is impossible to deal with because volume overwhelms quality. Blue sifts through the volume of second hand donated clothes to curate a high-quality selection. The service staff were quirky and sweet. I took advantage of the $10 discount offer for people who sign up to their Blue list, and for the birthday month. I would highly recommend shopping here, because this is one of the BEST thrift stores I have ever been to. read more

I was in the store today Dec. 12 mid-afternoon and the woman at the check-out counter was obviously quite ill and coughing her head off. To make things worse, she was not wearing a mask. Sick employees should not be serving customers, should be wearing a mask rather than coughing all over people and in fact should be home recuperating. We got out of there immediately but it's better to close the store than to "give" your customers an illness that could ruin their holidays. Very disappointed. read more

Maybe that wasn't even the case, but customer service is a real thing. But it's not here. I wish I could rate 5 stars, this place is a hidden gem. If you come in with the intent or mindset of buying something cheap from Goodwill, stop right there. Though, you can find non-expensive or "reasonably priced" items from this store, it's first and foremost a higher-end boutique (one you could easily find in Seattle) (think Psychic Sisters or Buffalo Exchange prices). Got it? Proceed! :) The store is pretty small for the wide selection that they carry, but doesn't feel super claustrophobic. I hardly make my way to the end of the store, though, that's where their children's clothes & toy area is located. I also have never visited their dressing rooms to the right of the store, either. They have an okay selection of books, awesome looking housewares, interesting assortment of shoes (easier to find shoes if you have a smaller foot, per usual). They have a pretty cute and excellent variety of jackets, skirts, and shirts. In that order, according to their awesomeness levels. Amazing finds: 1. Lots of leather jackets! 2. What this store is not: A cheap low end thrift shop where you slog through stuffed racks of garbage to find one hidden gem. What this store is: A mid-value thrift store carrying popular brands, high quality up market shoes and handbags, a lot of mid-range designer jeans, cute shirts and blouses and some good quality home decor items like framed art, ceramics and kitchen items. I also found some current best selling books and some popular cookbooks - titles that I just recently purchased at full price actually. If you're looking for cheap, you won't find it here. But if your looking for a really good deal on some great items, you gotta check this place out. read more

Blue is a hit or a miss, but that is the nature of secondhand shops anyway. In my experience, they have some great soaps, snacks and SeaHawks swag in addition to some lovely home decor items. While I would wish for their location to be a little better organized, it is perfect for the hunt of something unique. read more

I was excited to see this boutique open in downtown Olympia. Opened just a few days ago, it's more organized and stylish than the regular Goodwills, as if a personal shopper helped you pick through Goodwill. At the initial visit, though, I was left unimpressed. I had ideas that the clothing and items would be the 'black' Fashion Focus tags you find at the other stores, but this seemed like a selection (a nice one) of regular stuff. Most of the items were Forever 21 and H&M, a few Ann Taylor and Banana Republic, though. The housegoods reminded me of Ross, which is a plus. But for now, I'll wait and see how the rest of their stock improves over time. Great location in downtown Olympia next to the park and the cute downtown shops. Parking is easy to find. Folks were nice at the store, but it was still early in its organization...items were all bunched together regardless of size. read more

They pick out all the "good" stuff and shove it here. I love thrift shopping normally. Popped in there while walking down the street expecting something greater than what it was. Hopes crushed. They do have a good selection of jeans and I did find a nice pair of 7 for all man kinds for $30 which is a good deal as they were not in bad shape, issue was my ass is still too big for them. There is a lot crammed into this little space and I could see that if there was more than like 10 people in there at a time, It would be an overwhelming issue trying to dig through the racks. For now, I think I will pass on those moccasins someone else has been walkin in. read more

This is a cute little "boutique" that is run by Goodwill. They take the fancier stuff that they get donated (all designer stuff I think), and bring it to this store. The lady there said there should be no rips or stains on anything. I saw a very fancy coach handbag for $60. Nice not so fancy handbags for as little as $6. They also had some very nice dresses. They also have housewares, baby/ kid clothes, men's clothes, lots of shoes, books, etc. Better than Goodwill quality, and fairly inexpensive. read more

I spend a fair amount of time on this place while visiting downtown, I'm familiar with all Goodwill versions, and my favorite is the outlet store in Martin Way, (went by after visiting here btw)other reviews say it right this place is three times expensive than regular Goodwills, items are well presented and the jewelry section is abundant, after browsing end up buying three things that were %20 off, with a $20 dls Bill...no jeans for me :( the biggest size they had was 8...hit or miss here but I guess not gonna go back any time soon... found a sheep skin rug, a good sewing machine among other goodies on the outlet...! read more

Very outdated clothing (3+ year old syles) and some with brand new tags that have double the price in which youd find at ross, tj maxx etc. Was in the store for 25 min or so and not one store clerk greeted me, spoke to me while in the store, or thanked me for coming upon exiting. Very horrible customer service. Total waste. Dont waste your time going to this place. I can see why my good friend Candra (store mgr) quit after only several months. I discovered Blue with my girlfriend when I was exploring Olympia about a year ago and always find something "perfect" at a great price when I come to this location. The staff varies and yet is consistently very kind, attentive and generous. We came into Olympia today specifically because I wanted to shop here. Because of this place we also discovered and shopped at two others stores and stayed for dinner at a restaurant on the same block. Blue is a cornerstone reason to visit and a certain benefit for downtown commerce and the Olympia community at large. read more

It's Goodwill: more expensive and without the smell. I heard a story a week or so ago on NPR about the rise of so called Goodwill "boutiques:" shops that peddle higher quality items for a higher price with the same Goodwill motive. The idea is to appeal to a younger generation that values name brand items and whose parents never taught how to dig in a pile for that diamond in the rough. Blue is classy, clean, and you wouldn't really know it as a Goodwill save the logo. The prices are expectedly higher, targeting the shoppers that window shop downtown on the weekends. The items are less worn, well presented, and often look good as new. It's a nice idea, and if it raises money for Goodwill's great cause then I don't see a problem with it. That said, I'll continue shopping at the Goodwill's of my youth. read more

I've been in the store on Capitol a few times and I've really tried to appreciate this shop. However just like another reviewer I feel that the prices are extremely high for donated goods. Even if these are clearly the cream of the crop and hand selected they were donated for free. I'm absolutely floored by $40 jackets and $20 bath robes. I have found one item there and after much mental debate over cost I did buy it. Just for everyone's knowledge I asked a woman working there if items came pre-priced just so I could try to understand the high price tags. She said NO that the employees price items as they come in and feel their pricing is accurate. That's where my big problem comes in, that means that someone in Tacoma, L.A., Seattle could have a totally different opinion and we may be paying grossly different prices depending on where we shop. I will continue to occasionally browse this store and hope they adjust their prices a bit lower. read more

I am a huge thrift shopper. Been shopping Goodwill's for over 35 years. This store is nice and clean and well organized. The one thing I really admire is how often they change their displays. I rarely leave without buying something! This store is a bit small compared to other Goodwill Boutiques but much nicer than going to a regular Goodwill. The one thing that REALLY bothers me about this store is the attitude of the sales people. Last week I went into this store several times and NONE of the sales clerks even acknowledged me. Nobody said "hello, welcome, can I help you, etc..." I spent more than 30 minutes each time and was not even noticed. 2 of the sales people were going thru boxes at the front desk and never even looked up. On another occasion, same thing, the manager Tanya gave off such a negative vibe in the store, she then went into the back room and was throwing and slamming things around in the back room. The whole store felt very negative. I have never seen any of the employees even act happy at this store. I would have loved to give them a 5 star rating but they really lack in awareness and hospitality. This store would do much better if they had some happy employees with some courtesy and customer service skills. read more

I really enjoy browsing the selection at all Goodwill Shops. The one in downtown Olympia gives all the other stores here a run for their money. The current window dresser downs a fantastic job changing the look every 30 days or so. It is so professional and eye catching, I bet the other stores in town are green with envy! read more

I found the price of the items to be comparable to the prices in the larger Goodwill stores in Western WA. Jeans were $15-$20. Shoes were $10-$15 and tops were mostly under $10. This is a place one should go if they are looking for a consignment store type experience. The staff was very attentive offering, several times, to hold items while I continued to shop. If you work in Olympia, this place is worth popping into for a few minutes every once in a while. read more

The staff at the boutique are great. The problem I have, is I discovered that none of the donations help benefit any of our local people, only fund to help Tacoma Goodwill programs. They advertise that they have job training programs, help people with barriers to employment etc. And NONE of the Goodwill's in Olympia, Lacey or Centralia have retraining programs. AT times they allow people to work for free for community service, but that is it! They are the most well known non profit and there advertisements (in the store and everywhere else) is false. The prices have also gotten to be outrageous, especially for an agency that is not giving back to the community. I don't understand why the City Counsel allows a non profit to come in without first asking them how their non profit agency is going to help our community. Anyone who has been downtown Olympia can see we are in desperate need of re-training and other programs. read more
