very good restaurant with lots of great employees The highlights are going to be their fajitas, enchiladas, and most importantly: their birria tacos

Usually when you go to a Mexican restaurant and get chips and salsa on the house, chips aren't homemade and salsa is too spicy to enjoy much of. Not this place. I could have eaten them as my meal. Also splurge a little get the queso, it is well worth it. 10/10 on all food. We got the quesabirria (quesadillas made with birria meat), the mixed fajitas, sopapillas, and of course chips and queso. The service is amazing! The waitress was attentive and so sweet. It's a nice place to come get a fantastic meal and drinks. Watermelon marg is well worth the trip itself.

Blue Agave is a Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant located on Treadway just down from Hendrick Medical Center. Atmosphere: A much beleaguered location with several openings and closures in the last 10 years, the building is very much a diner style venue. 1 Star Service: Service was great. Sat us right down and our waitress was very attentive to us the whole time we were there. Very polite and very quick service. 2 Stars Food: We were given chips and salsa to start off with. The salsa was good with a nice kick to it. The chips were fine, (and I don't discount for their choice) just not my favorite style of chips. We also ordered the Queso with steak. Quite good. They serve some flour tortillas with it as well which were also good and seemed fresh. My wife ordered the Quesabirria (a take on Birria tacos but in quesadilla form) and it was massive! Huge portion. Definitely enough to feed two people. They had good flavor and the Birria sauce was decent. I ordered the fajita chicken chimichangas. Classic Tex-Mex style chimis usually come with rice, beans, meat and cheese and then are fried golden brown and topped with queso or some form of red sauce. What I got was not a chimichanga, at least not what I have ever eaten, and it is one of my favorite dishes that I order at many places. I've had them stuffed with grilled onions and peppers (my fave) as well as the classic mix mentioned above and several things in between. What I received were two smallish "wet burritos." Each were stuffed with grilled fajita style chicken and .......... that's it. Nothing else. No cheese, no beans, no rice. Just grilled chicken in a tortilla. And then it was grilled (like on a Blackstone) instead of fried (this is easily noticeable from my pics.) and covered with queso (which was good). With that being said, the chicken was fantastic on flavor. I will not discount the taste. Very good, but man, I was sure wanting for more, and longing for that crisp golden fried tortilla. Lastly, the rice was good and my refried beans were cold (as in burr.) The wife's charro beans did not suffer the same fate and were very good and hot. 0.5 Stars Overall: Let's just get this out of the way first. Nothing we had tasted bad. In fact it was all very good. The chips are a personal preference and the Birria sauce was just ok. The Birria meat was good. The chicken in the "chimi" was also very tasty. I will definitely come back to try something else. But I'll most certainly steer away from the chimichangas. I'd be remiss if I didn't come back and at least try the enchiladas and tacos. I rounded up to 4 stars but overall, it's a 3.5 star on this visit with the cold beans and disappointing chimi.

In town for work and stumbled across this gem. The service was acceptable, but the food is worth returning for. We had the queso with steak, chicken quesadillas, and quesabirria. The steak queso was good, very cheesy, but the quesabirria was the star of the show. Tender, savory, perfectly crispy tortillas. Nice meal!

Service was super attentive. Chips were unique and light. Salsa fantastic and a little spicy. California burrito was great and crunchy taco VERY good. Chicken enchiladas with green sauce were excellent. Rice and beans very flavorful. Would like to try everything on the menu.

Starters- chips and salsa were phenomenal, chips definitely made in house and the sales was really good. The queso with steak was really really good and was served with some tortillas that were amazing aswell Meals- 10/10 amazing awesome great, no other way to put it

Service and Ambience I strongly dislike writing "bad" reviews. However, Blue Agave on Treadway went the extra mile on bad service and food quality. One other customer and my party of three were at the restaurant at 10:05 a.m. when Blue Agave opened their doors. There were at least six workers at the bar, having their breakfast or lunch. It took 10 minutes for someone came to our table for our drinks. The traditional, regional, northern Mexican music was loud and gave the impression that more than a restaurant, this place was a Cantina. Food Avoid the chips and salsa; they will make you frown, and unnecessary wrinkles will appear on your face. We ordered Carne Asada and a Chile relleno with cheese. The beef was chewy and flavorless (It felt like I was eating a rubber band). I requested my beans and rice on the side (separate from the meat), but my request was ignored. The Chile Relleno was covered with a tasteless- depressing tomato sauce that yelled to us: "Send me back to my can!". I will try this place again and see if it was only a bad day, but I am not excited about Blue Agave.

Their queso is hands down the best! It can get a little crowded inside so I usually just get my food to go.

We visited with a big group after Sing Song at ACU…read more Atmosphere: Bright and colorful. Mostly an open space with 4-person tables. Easy to accommodate large groups because of the ease of putting these tables all together. Overall, your average, old style Mexican restaurant. Nothing special. 1/2 Star Service: Sat us quickly as a group of 13. Our waitress, Erika, was fantastic. Even though she was completely alone with our table she never once let our drinks, hot sauce, or chips run dry. She took our orders promptly and every single one came out just as ordered. She was very pleasant and I would personally ask to sit in her area if I come back. 2 Stars Food: Hot sauce is very good. I like it hot and this one does a good job of that. Good chips as well. I like a thin chip and these were quite good. Queso is simply nacho sauce from your local Sam's club. The same kind u will get at a high school football game when u order nachos. The enchilada sauce I am quite sure also comes from a can. It is VERY orange and tastes like several other canned varieties I have had. It definitely didn't taste like a fresh sauce by any means. At least the enchiladas were hot. One of my main complaints is that the tacos (one crunchy and one soft) come with beef and a little bit of cheese. No tomatoes, no lettuce, no filler at all. The crunchy was anything but. It was quite soggy. The soft was probably a grocery store tortilla. That all being said, they are cheap. Almost every single meal on the menu is less than $10. Not a place I will likely return to unless I just happen to be with a group that wants to go there. 1/2 Star for price. My Rating System: Things have changed. I felt it was too easy to get 4-5 Stars so I will be giving out many more 1/2 Stars and basing my reviews on a 10 point system rather than 5. Will mostly round down unless I feel they deserve it. 1 Star-Wouldn't let my dog eat here 2 Star-Below average-usually something really struck me as being bad and I doubt I would ever return. 3 Star-Average-Might come back. Might not if there are better options. 4 Star-Above average-will definitely come back and try something new. 5 Star-Phenomenal-Will definitely return for such an amazing experience.

The look of the plate was pleasing to the eye but deceiving to the mouth; it was tough when I attempted to cut the meat. I told the waiter, and he offered to give me another piece of meat. It took 30 minutes for that second "carne asada" to arrive. It was the same except that this second meat had less fat. I did not eat it. I paid almost 30 dollars, including the tip. I will give this place a second chance and try its enchiladas or chilaquiles. But, for the moment, I would not recommend this place.
