I was so excited when blue bottle opened a location in Chicago being a big fan from their SF locations. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience and will not be returning here. I placed a mobile order and when I went to pick it up I was waiting and noticed a man in the mobile pick up location looking through all the drinks. I didn't think much of it, but when my drink was put on the counter by one of the baristas I saw this man pick it up, take a sip, and put it back. I saw him do this to multiple other drinks as well. Since I saw the man take a sip and put my drink back, I explained what happened to a barista and asked for it to be remade. They did nothing about the man and I feel bad for all the people that did not see what he was doing to their drinks. I then had to wait a full 40 minutes for my drink to be remade. On top of what I already waited for the first drink to be made. I completely understand they were busy at 11am on a Saturday and it would take some time, but after 35 minutes I again flagged down a barista and asked about my order. She remade it for me after that, but a 40 minute wait? I wish I was exaggerating, but I really waited that long. Do not go here unless you have 30-45 minutes to waste and do not place a mobile order for pick up because drinks are not watched at all. It is so disgusting to see this happen during covid and then not be addressed at all when the people working were notified. There are plenty of small business coffee shops in Chicago with amazing coffee and service. Go to one of those instead. read more

I have been here many times when I visit Chicago as I often stay at a hotel down the street. I came in today to get some work done before a call and have some coffee and breakfast. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and latte for inside the restaurant. I took a seat and found that their Wi-Fi does not work. When I asked about this, they said it is a known issue and they are working on it. I said okay and returned to my seat. I then noticed a blonde girl with glasses behind the counter give me a not-so-great look by posing this question. So, I am using my phone as a hotspot in a coffee shop so be it. I then get a sandwich which is not what I ordered (was missing avocado which is an add on you pay extra for). They then tell me that they can't put that on the sandwich they made but only the breakfast sandwich. I simply said I ordered the breakfast sandwich. They said oh and apologized and gave me a refund as they thought I ordered lunch at 9AM for some reason with my latte. All is well. I said thank you and went back to my computer. When I go up to pick up the sandwich the "manager" a blonde girl with glasses (the one from earlier that gave me a not so flattering glance for asking about the Wi-fi) tells me that she doesn't appreciate my tone with her employees. I said "okay, please explain as I did not raise my voice." She raised her hand and walked away towards the kitchen. The lady/customer behind me literally said.."Wow!" As a CEO I see this issue with this generation all too often. If she thinks I mistreated her employees by answering questions and pointing out mistakes that they made to help them correct them she is going to have a very tough time in the real world after working in a coffee shop. I would not be at the professional level that I am at if I was unprofessional to a bunch of kids. I never even raised my voice. My tone was conversational, and I said very little. I simply answered questions. If she wants to challenge someone, she needs to have the courage to back it up and have an adult conversation and be professional herself. You don't raise your hand like that and walk away from a customer after calling them out. Although her intentions may have been genuine her in her mind, her conduct made a below average customer experience into a very bad one, and not to just me, but those who witnessed her. Customer experience is everything in business and the Blue Bottle Coffee in Chicago (Wolf Pointe) has some work to do here. read more

I go to the Malibu location often because it is near my university so I was so excited to hear that a Blue Bottle was opening up in my hometown! I was impressed by the much bigger location and food menu at the location- a talk to one of the opening team members confirmed it was the largest location yet! I usually get the sweet latte and it was just as good as I remember it. My mom enjoyed her New Orleans style coffee as well. We plan to come in the future and try out the food items, which range from pastries to avocado toast. read more

Blue Bottle Coffee was recommended to me by a local as a great non-chain coffee place. I ordered the blend pour over coffee and granola with steamed milk. The coffee was unremarkable, but the granola with steamed milk was very good. The service at Blue Bottle was poor at best. The gentlemen taking orders wasn't helpful at all and couldn't tell me if I wait at the bar for my order or if it would be brought to me. Additionally, while I appreciate a clean establishment, the staff member cleaning tables was pretty haphazard with his disinfect spray and sprayed my date and his food. Two other notable items that weren't necessarily the fault of Blue Bottle, but worth mentioning nonetheless. 1. Beware when sitting outside as folks living/working above Blue Bottle enjoy tossing trash and pouring water out of their windows/off their balconies. 2. There seems to be a honey shortage in downtown Chicago. Blue Bottle was the second or third coffee place without honey. read more

Blue Bottle undeniably has the best cafe location in Chicago. The riverfront property has gorgeous views. The coffee is solid and the food offerings are yummy. That being said, unless you get here before 9am, it will be busy. Tourists and locals alike crowd this well-known cafe making it hard to get a seat indoors and leaving it at a noise level that's a bit too loud. A perk is they're open much later than most other Chicago cafes allowing for late night studying or meeting up after work with friends. read more

The coffee at Lost Larson in Andersonville is very comparable, but i feel like Lost Larson edges them out because they have more food options and better pastries. But i don't wanna say not to go here. As for coffee, they are VERY comparable, and they're of course in totally different areas. So if you're in Andersonville, definitely go to Lost Larson, but if you're downtown and/or by the river, Blue Bottle Coffee is probably your best bet! read more

Super timely and easy to pick up. Coffee is still stellar and they seem to have gotten more back up for the barista so their timing is better. The employees always greet me with a great attitude and overall make the experience a bit better. I've visited both blue bottle locations located in Chicago and I very much prefer this location. Although this specific store is a bit smaller and could use the extra space for when it gets busy, I love to come here and work on any work or school assignments.
