we tried the blueberry matcha. their matcha tastes high quality and they say it's ceremonial grade which i believe. i think some places say theirs is ceremonial grade when it isn't. so we really enjoyed the quality of the matcha and it was the perfect amount of sweet from the blueberry. we also tried baursaq which is the fried dough bites. it tastes like a light donut ball. it's not heavy or greasy at all. they give you a dipping sauce which tasted like strawberry to me. overall a really clean and simple lay out for the shop. very minimal and upscale. it's not super busy and loud so it's a nice place to sit in and enjoy your drinks and maybe do some homework/remote work. i only gave it 4/5 just because the drinks were a little pricey but i think that's the norm now as well. hard to find drinks under 8$ these days. read more

The cashier taking our order is from Kazakhstan and was able to give us a lot of insights on the menu and culture. They had a mix of traditional American breakfast items as well as Kazakh food. We opted for the salmon Benedict and the cottage cheese pancakes. The benedict was good and everything tasted the fresh. The cottage cheese pancakes were a unique flavor (almost tangy) and not very sweet. The coffee was very good and it came with wafers which were good. At this beautiful space in River North, Tary is serving up a narrow, daytime-oriented menu of otherwise hard-to-find Kazakh items. During my early morning visit, I sampled the cottage cheese pancakes, which seemed to be a regional take on syrniki. It is definitely worth trying. I enjoyed it best with the Irimshik sprinkled adding a subtle sweetness. As a sweet treat, I ordered the cottage cheese pancakes. They were dense and delicious with a decadent sauce. These are definitely an indulgence! I also had the cottage cheese pancakes. We left later in the day than I was expecting, so I was already starving and decided to order a burger. It was the best thing I ordered. I'm so glad I was hungry enough to try it. The mocha flavor wasn't very strong, but the coffee overall was great, nice foam and mildly sweet. The food was a game changer this time. Cinnamon roll was great. One large painting on the back wall. One large quote on the other adjacent wall and that's it. Service was a bit slow. We stood at the counter for about 7 minutes before someone greeted us. They were busy away making the pastries or the coffee. There was about 5 people ahead of us who already ordered and was waiting to get their drinks. About 10 drink options and about 15 food options. I can't tell if it's Japanese inspired or Russian as I was hearing some of the workers speak both. We went with a cappuccino for about 7 dollars and the Latte Irimshik which cost about $8. My bestie and I visited here for a light brekkie during her birthday weekend. I absolutely loved this café! The flavours of the irimshik side accompanying the irimshik latte, granola that was really more of a müsli than the artificially flavoured, overly sweet American version I expected, and yogurt with a grainy yet smooth texture were new to me and very enjoyable. What a place. This is so much more than just a coffee house. Tons of options, great ambience, and genuinely kind people. We started with a mocha, a solid, well-balanced drink that wasn't overly sweet and was just perfect. We didn't plan on eating here, but the menu was way too tempting. We ordered the cinnamon roll, and wow. This was insanely good. Most cinnamon rolls in the U.S. feel like sugar-heavy, cinnamon-flavored buns, but this one was light, flavorful, and beautifully made. The irimshik on top really elevated it, subtle, warm, and just sweet enough. Easy 10/10. Next was the cottage cheese pancake, which was also very good. It had a generous amount of cottage cheese stuffed inside, and paired with the sweet irimshik dip, the dish came together really well. 9/10. We then tried the qattama. It was good. flaky, crispy, and reminded me of a paratha. It came with a sour irimshik dip. While each component was good, I felt the qattama would shine more with a gravy-based dish. 7/10. Finally, we ordered the Nan Salma pasta. It's a tarry-based white sauce pasta with a unique flavor profile, and it was genuinely yum. Definitely something different and worth trying. Highly recommend it. 8/10. You have space to sit down and work as well. Service was good too. Some of the dishes might take 7-10mins to get prepared.
