Had earmarked this place as we surprisingly found a Hakka restaurant in Guelph. The best way to try is with the lunch special for $10 + taxes you get a dish from a long list, steamed rice, a soup and two mini spring rolls. Not a bad price Inside is quite cozy and we got a nice booth. The service is quick and servers seemed to wearing street clothes and not a "uniform" We had a Paneer Chilli, Veg Manchurian, Spicy Stir Vegetable (the last two being Vegan) with steamed rice and egg free vegan fried rice. The Paneer Chilli a bit on the spicy side the way it needs to be. The Veg Manchurian, very good pakoras with still crispy on the outside and soft inside. The sauce needs a bit of a work - a little more seasoning and a bit of spiciness. The Stir Veggies was spicy just the way it was requested. Fantastic sauce and seasoning. The downer? Most the veggies were perhaps were frozen kind. So instead of a crunch or a bite had a strange texture to it. The Veggie Hot N Sour Soup was OK. It needed a lot more spice and seasoning as well. The Spring Roll same freshly fried, but being made from frozen it had a flavour that was not pleasing. read more

Service : 3/5 At the time of our visit, we were the only customers dining in. Only 1 person working the dining area. Vaxx passport required, which is fine with us. They do have a QR Code for accessing their menu, but they also have a folding paper menu available as well, but it seems the QR Code accessed menu is more up to date than the paper version. Food : 4/5 for our group of 4 we ordered : Chili Chicken (gravy) $13.49, Ginger Beef (gravy) $14.99, Thai Crispy Chicken $16.99, Shrimp Pad Thai $11.99, Szechuan fried rice $12.99. Something odd I noticed is that if you wish for a dish without gravy/sauce, they will charge you extra $1.50. Which kinda caught me off guard to be honest. All of us enjoyed all the dishes. The Chili Chicken had quite the kick of spice for us. I wasn't able to taste the Ginger beef tho, since I have gout so is off-limits for me. But the others enjoyed it, nothing left of the Ginger beef at end of meal. Thai Crispy Chicken was the favorite dish among the group, tho there wasn't enough of it for a group of 4. The Shrimp Pad Thai, seemed kinda lacking in ingredients? Didn't seem like a traditional pad thai. Was expecting crushed peanuts and they put whole peanuts instead. Szechuan Fried rice was also a favorite among the 4 diners. For those who are diabetic, you are in luck, since they serve basmati rice instead of a long grain or parboiled variant. Drinks : we didn't order anything fancy, we ended up consuming 3 bottles of cold water to go with our meal. Water came served in chilled glass bottles from Ikea if I recall. Portion Size Value for Money Spent : 4/5 most of the dishes were reasonable in price for the portion size, except for the Thai Crispy Chicken, for $16.99 was kinda expecting more. The dishes that the Szechuan Fried Rice and the Shrimp Pad Thai were served in were deceptive to the eye, more food than we thought, we ended with those 2 dishes as take away. We had the fried chicken wontons, the honey garlic chicken, garlic chop suey, and thai spaghetti . The fried chicken wontons: Super tiny, mini bite size. Texture of the meat & wraps were dry. Felt like they made it with left over, stale chicken. Honey Garlic Chicken: This was a good dish. The only drawback was you could clearly taste that these chicken chunks were fried in the same oil that Seafood was fried in. So it had that funny Seafood, fishy taste to it. I recommended to the chef that they use separate oils. Let's see if they will listen... Thai Spaghetti: Interesting dish name. It tastes more like noodles smothered in thai coconut curry. It tasted good. I recommend it. Garlic Chop Suey: It was good. But not super flavorful or tasty. Just adequate. The interior decor is pretty nice considering its a hakka restaurant. The wait service was very good. Given that there are not much hakka restaurants around here, I recommend this restaurant, but just have "average" expectations. read more

To say I'm thrilled that there's finally a Hakka restaurant in Guelph would be an understatement. I love Hakka food and crave it often. We ordered the Family of 4 Special which comes with 2 soups, 2 rice or noodle dishes (or combination), 2 protein dishes, 8 chicken wings and 2 white rice. Good price for what we received but individual dishes are a bit more pricey. We chose a chicken manchurian rice, Hakka chicken chow mein, ginger fish and chilli chicken. Initial ordering was quick; however I did notice from ordering over the phone to pickup that their service is a bit unorganized and scattered (they just opened so I'm not going to hold that against them... yet). Manchurian rice was a bit underwhelming to what I'm use to (very mild), but my kids enjoyed the taste of the Hakka chow mein. I do like the quantity of fish and chicken they add to their dishes. Both were yummy. I can't wait to try their dry manchurian vegetables (particularly gobi) and pakora next. Overall experience is pretty tasty food in good amounts and at a good price point for the specials. Food was prepared and ready quickly (20 minutes). This unreliable restaurant told me they were closing as I entered their door, 45 minutes before their posted closing time. I find a failure to respect clientele by keeping hours is disgraceful. We were first time customers and last time customers. Pad Thai was so over seasoned I had to throw in it the garbage. Spring rolls were chewy/rubbery. Everything else was way over seasoned and had to be thrown away. Not only was the food bad, it took 2.5 hours to get delivered. read more

This place is a little gem in Guelph. It doesn't look so promising on the outside, but the inside is cozy and clean - and the food is amazing. We did fine in and the portions were huge, we ended up taking a lot of it home. The highlight was definitely the tom yum soup, chili chicken and yellow thai curry. The pad thai was a bit bland, just add some soy sauce and get it without tofu. The fried rice was alright, but in the future I would just get the sticky rice. The lollipop chicken also could have been a bit spicier. All in all, it was a good experience and the staff was nice! read more

We had a great meal there. The restaurant was clean and quiet, the soups were great, and I very much enjoyed my sweet and sour beef with pineapple. My wife found the portion size too large, but that was not unexpected. Some of the dishes are different from the traditional way of making them, so check the menu before ordering. Was excited to give this place a try. Very cute interior as well! Unfortunately we didn't find the service to be very good. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone came to really greet us or bring us a drink. Ordered apitizers and full dishes. It took about 30 minutes to get the apitizers and we waited almost another hour for the full meal. Not once did they ask us how the food was and we only were served our meals after going up and speaking to the woman at the counter. I think they forgot about us? The food itself wasn't all that bad, but omg so salty. Everything was super salty. We also had to flag them down for water refills. They didn't seem very attentive. We tried this place based on positive reviews. Sad to say we did not have the same experience. Frozen vegetables used in almost every dish and dish's were swimming in sauce. Chicken lollipops were good but the rest was very disappointing. Maybe it was the time we ordered but most of this food will end up in the trash. read more

This was our first time at this restaurant,I ordered chow mien and kung pao chicken, I guess almost all Chinese cuisine lovers know what is kung pao? unlike the chef who makes it here, he added cauliflower, broccoli, beans and mushrooms I guess they were from the bag of frozen mixed vegs and the gravy tasted so bland. It was nothing like Kung Pao!!! there is no debate that you cant create your own version but with that you cant change the whole idea of that certain dish and then be like I don't compare my food with anyone. Really wanted to like this place, but was pretty unimpressed over all. I ordered for pick up and was told it would take an hour. And then when I got there i had to wait another 10 mins. Have been here twice now and both times were excellent. Girlfriend demands we get the spicy Tiger Prawns each time and has debated going simply for them, I don't put up a fight :P. For my main I went with the Tandoori Chicken and it was delicious. I've been going with spicy options and while they are quite spicy, to me it is the perfect amount. I notice the spice but it doesn't overwhelm the flavour, it compliments it amazingly. The Portion sizes for the price as well are fantastic and at the very least make this place worth at least checking out and deciding for yourself if you like it. The place is very clean and the owner seems to genuinely care if you like your food. Tiniest suggestion would be ice in the water and as someone that drinks an abnormal amount of water with any meal having it more available would have been nice. But that didn't affect my visit negatively enough to prevent me from coming in the future or recommend it to friends. read more
