Even with reservations you can wait 40 minutes. Order the grouper plate. The food tastes good but I got food poisoning from eating it. I was sick as a dog all night. Will not return.

This establishment is new from my understanding. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and a lobster grilled cheese. Both were phenomenal. The server was friendly and it did appear they had no cocktail menu but worked with us and the bar to make a drink. Overall very satisfied with the whole visit. Did seem to still be working out some kinks in the front of house. Will definitely be back! read more

We read past reviews before coming here and we just don't understand the negative reviews. My wife and I came on a Sunday afternoon and sat outside. We were greeted immediately and had 2 waters and menus within a minute. Right on the ICW with great views. Our server, Autumn, was professional, knowledgable of the menu, friendly and one of the best servers we have had in the past few years. Food was hot and was fast to arrive. First, this was not our first visit to the Blue Drum. We have been there several times. Second, with a group of 5, we did make reservations. We got there a little early and was told that the table assigned to us had not cleared yet. The frustrating part of that was I saw at least two couples seated at six top tables. The hostesses were nice about it, but it was frustrating have to wait over 30 minutes. I know part of that was us getting there early, but why are you seating two people at 6 tops when you have reservations for a group of 5. And there were many locations for couples as they seated at least three sets before we got seated. Though the majority of the food was excellent, the mussel order had at least 5 mussels that did not open. They did take it off the bill. I would say this is a really good place for anywhere from a couple to 4 people. But if you have a larger group, even with a reservation, you are going to be waiting. Go somewhere else where they don't sit couples at 6 tops. read more

Made reservations and still weren't seated for 45 minutes. Despite reservations they also couldn't sit us together, had they told us that when making reservations we would have chosen elsewhere. The workers at check-in seemed less than thrilled to help anyone. After 45 minutes they gave our table away and we chose to leave. Arrived by boat at 6:49 on a casual Tuesday evening. Thought we'd stop by for some quick sandwiches before it got dark. We sat immediately at the outside bar and ordered as soon as we met our waiter. 3 grilled chicken sandwiches and steak tip bites cooked medium. Didn't see food until over an hour later at 7:55. Server and hostess were nice, but I feel like something happened in the kitchen and they weren't honest with the wait time. "It's coming out", "it's getting boxed", was said multiple times between ~5-10 minute intervals each. We had no choice but to take the food to-go and immediately leave. Had to idle home in the dark down the waterway and a quick 20 minute ride took 71 minutes. It was blistering cold and extremely stressful with no spotlight. We got home and 3 of our 4 meals were wrong, sandwiches were not blackened. None of us were very impressed with the flavor (or lack there-of). Sharky's or Inlet View will have appetizers on your table in 5-10 minutes, and entrees in 20-30, even on a busy weekend- without fail... Head further down the waterway for a much better experience. read more

This is a beautiful restaurant. The service is good. The food is good. However, the timing of food and drinks stink! We received our drinks one at a time...like 3-4 minutes in between 3 drinks . The crab dip app came out quickly but the soup came out with our entree. The hamburger was thin and dry. The seafood ravioli was slightly undercooked. The filet mignon was not seared. The sides were fine: lobster Mac n'cheese, fries and garlic mashed potato's. The desserts were also good: strawberry cheesecake and turtle cheesecake. The coffee was weak. We were disappointed with the overall meal. The location is weird but the view of the water is nice. I hope the staff and kitchen improve, we need another great restaurant in LR. read more

Awesome choices from wings with my fav thai chili sauce to grouper Oscar which is so delicious to the melt away tenderloin. Had perfectly seared scallops and steamed peel and eat shrimp with old bay last night. Great service and waterfront dining is another plus. read more

We had reservations for 2@7, waited for 15 minutes only to have people run in around us. Four people working the hostess stand and none had a clue what was going on. We should have heeded the warning of numerous reviews - save yourself and go to one of the many reputable, experienced restaurants in the area. We had a party of 8 on a Friday night. The views and the restaurant itself were very nice! The interior was new and we were able to sit outside by the water which was beautiful. We went in without a reservation and were seated in roughly 30 minutes. The hostess was nice, the staff we passed were nice and accommodating, our waitress however was not the best. Our food was cold by the time it come to us and the waitress seemed to have an attitude whenever we asked questions whether it was about a menu item or drink refill. When our food arrived only 3 of the 10 dishes we ordered were eaten and 1 of the orders was wrong. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Teriyaki and an additional side of Lobster Mac. The Ahi Tuna had to be sent back and cooked longer because I ordered medium and received rare, after it was cooked longer it was cooked medium however the tuna had hard bits in it afterwards so I did not eat it. The Lobster Mac had hard noodles throughout so I nor my other friend who ordered it at the lobster Mac. My husband ordered the Serious Seafood Pasta and liked it. Our friends liked the Rockefeller Oysters and thought the tacos were okay. Maybe it was just an off night but I will not be returning, I've never gone to eat somewhere and not eaten my food. We did tell the waitress about the Lobster Mac, two of us ordered it, and the waitress did offer to bring something else. This review is to provide my experience, not to harm the restaurant. I simply just won't be going back from the bad experience my friends and I had while dining with them. read more

What a terrible experience. Service was mediocre at best. Waited 15 minutes for a cocktail which came out at same time as my dinner. Food was mediocre at best. However, the worst part was being asked to leave as soon as our dinner was over because there was another party in line for our table and we had used our allotted time. Great view! The service was good. We went for a happy hour but only drinks were offered. No happy hour food choices. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were good. My husband ordered the mussels and gumbo. The mussels were served cold. Almost as though they were pre cooked and heated in broth. The gumbo was definately not homemade. Every bit of food we had was delicious. The atmosphere was awesome on a warm day with a nice breeze sitting outside. The Service was terrible. The bartender said seat anywhere you want. Tables had dirty dishes on them. We had to bus one ourselves. There was only about 5 tables of people in and out. The waitress spent most of the afternoon standing at the bar and chatting. At one point we went to the bar to get our own drinks. I know they are starting out, but they need to have better control of their staff. I'll give another try after they are open a while. My family visited Blue Drum for the first time today, Mothers day. We have been passing by this place for a while in our boat on the ICW. Our party of 7 and one child was very pleased with our food and the service by Tamisha. We will definitely be back to try the other food on the menu. They are in their start up stage so please be patient as they build their business. With that being said it was amazing!!!!!! We enjoyed sitting outside along the water watching the boats go by, having a drink and totally enjoyed the food!!! The server (Josh) was super nice and very efficient. They are currently working out the kinks of a start up business. Not enough staff. 4 of us Arrived for lunch. Ordered 4 lunch plates. It took 2.5 to 3 hrs to get our sandwiches. They were cold. Mine was the Chicken pesto sandwich. It was missing items on the sandwich. Had a limited selection of beer. Ordered a Black Russian. Bartender put in a tall glass and added water to it. Nice location. Small interior building but they are adding outdoor seating. Not sure how that's going to work for them if they couldn't keep up now. Hope it pulls together. This place looks awesome, right on the river with awesome views. That is where it stopped. Walked in to three kids sitting on a couch. It turned out they were hostess or something. They were all on their phones so I walked right past then then they said wait how many. Had no idea who they were. Party of three but wanted to sit at the bar. So they handed us menus and silverware. Weird. Sat at the bar and waited, and waited and waited for the bartender to even look at us...slowly came over after checking his phone. Then said what do you want...great greeting for a new restaurant. I asked him for a drink menu he said we ain't got one. Ok what beers do you have struggled to answer that. Finally guessed a beer they have. Couple next to us said put in your order cause he won't be back. Found what we wanted and they were right he never came back. He was talking to a guy at the bar, must have been a friend. Finally he walked by and we said we like to order and he said wait a min. Then he went back to his buddy and spoke a while longer. Finally came over and we placed our order. I had to repeat it three times as he struggled to take an order...he might have been high. Food took forever considering restaurant was pretty empty. When food arrived it was cold. I said just try it as I don't want to wait another 30 mins to remake it. Cold or hot it was bad. Oysters rockefeller was watery and flavorless. Crab dip was like soup, mussels smelled sour. One of the party tried them and actually was sick later in the night. Po boy was actually pretty good but cold. We only had one drink and bartender never came back. Some other lady ended up bring us our bill, never asked how anything was. As a new restaurant you need better service and someone to quality check the food coming out. Good luck but if don't fix then you will fail...you might get the tourists but locals will end up only coming for the view and will bring their own beer. Cheers read more
