The butcher gives you the correct lbs and price for what you are buying, however the cashiers will weight it on their scale at the register and will charge you MORE! Please be aware as this should not be happening if the butcher has already weight it in for you with a price tag! I don't think a lot of People pay attention to this since sometimes they buy other items. read more

Los Reyes is a decent market with a fantastic Panadería and an even better restaurant. They pass the test of a try authentic Mexican restaurant. No yellow cheese. We went in the other day for lunch because we were driving around Bakersfield bored looking for early lunch or late breakfast. The Enchilada plate had two giant enchiladas with super juicy shredded chicken inside and their rich and slightly spicy enchilada sauce outside. My wife's plate of Costillas (ribs) melted off the bone and were in a beautiful Chile Colorado sauce. Order a Taco de Tripas and tell them you want it "bien doradito". Crispy and clean tripe. That's what you get. Value is really good if you're willing to go out of your way a bit. read more

To say the least everything about this market is to love the decorations (I'm from Mexico and I can tell you everything that is in this store has a meaning to my culture) , the people and customer service (they will go above and beyond to help you get the best thing for you personally, the butchers helped me determine what was the best meat for the time of meal I was making and it turned out amazing!), the food ( from the food they have there to take home all ready to eat, to the quality of: meant, cheese, cream, bread. Everything you can tell it's of high quality). I've been coming here since the beginning of the year and the customer service has always been excellent. Although the last couple of times I've been there the same young lady with blonde hair always seems so bothered when I need help or ask a question. We came in on a Tuesday to get tacos. My parents always tell me the tacos are great and that the pan dulce (sweet bread) is fresh. My first impression was that the store was very new and clean. The employee who took our food order at the counter was pleasant and answered some of my questions about the items. We ordered tacos, a burrito, and tostadas. While waiting on our order, I put on some gloves, they provide and picked up a tray to select my bread. Many choices for the bread, sweet or salty. There is also another counter with cakes and other treats. After selecting my bread, we found some drinks and paid for those items in the grocery section of the door. You'll find produce, beverages, pantry staples, and butcher area. We then walked to the bakery area to get our order to go. The carne asada tostada was the best tasting because seasoning was spot on. I also tried a mixto tostada which has different fried pork like carnitas, tripas (tripe), etc. The burrito is average sized, but it had corn which kinda threw my brother off. Only improvement would be to have spicier salsa available. They were not hot enough for me, but I was thankful that they included 1/2 a roasted chile in each order. This is a review on the restaurant part... the food is amazingly delicious! I had a carne Asada burrito and my husband had carne Asada tacos. Hands down the best in town. Fresh tortillas, corn and flour piled with meat and all the fixings. The staff is really friendly I highly recommend this place to everyone. read more

Okay, I visited last month so my review is a bit old. My bad. But anyway, I'm gonna have to concur with the other reviewer. I visited because they had some really good looking pictures on Instagram and I'm just naturally curious so I loaded up the wife and kids to check it out. I will agree that the place was spotlessly clean, but the prices weren't any better than any other place to which I've been. The produce department looked absolutely terrible - lots of stuff that looked like it was about to spoil any minute. I had a hell of a time finding some decent grapes. Part of the problem with this place is that I didn't find anything particularly cool. This place is WAY out of my way to get to, and there isn't anything here I can't find at my local Vallarta. We did get some food from the taqueria they have here and it was absolutely delicious (try the carnitas!!) but not really good enough to make me drive half an hour for it. read more

I went into the store for the first time earlier today and I was pleasantly surprised by all of the options they had available. It has a meat shop, grocery store, hot food and bakery. I ran to the pan dulce section and grabbed a few of my favorite breads and I was not disappointed! The whole store was very clean and the staff was more than helpful. I can't speak to the grocery part of the store or the bakery, but the restaurant portion is hands down one of the best in town. The food is all made to order and their carnitas are some of the best in Kern County. The asada tacos and burritos are authentically delicious. I think people are giving it bad reviews because it's in the south east side of Bakersfield, but I think it gives it more character and is more genuine because of it. If I can grade this store with no stars I would. Unfortunately, the post needs a rating so I'm forced to give a star. The owners and managers don't care if you return back. I guess they think they can stay survive staying in business with first time customers alone. I recently had a bad experience with them and they refuse to return my calls. Their phone line is always off the hook or busy and voice mail box not accepting messages because it's full. Probably filled with complaints and store doesn't want to pick up because they know it's probably another dissatisfied customer. There's no excuse for not answering since I know they can't be busy as the parking lot always sits empty. Maybe they should park some of their used cars from their used car lot there so it doesn't always look so dead. I have choices to buy my groceries and prefer to spend my dollars elsewhere where my business is appreciated and customers are treated with respect and valued like Vallarta, Superior, Vons/Albertsons and Foodmaxx. Attended a Los Reyes Market giveaway that they had advertised in their Facebook. They mentioned 10+ 50'' televisions, 500+ backpacks plus computers that were going to be raffled off. During this 3 1/2 hour event they only gave 2 televisions and 2 computers. They had free tacos for those who came but no drinks. If you were thirsty they instructed you to go inside and purchase a drink since they ran out of water. First, this is a supermarket. If they ran out of water they should of brought more out from the stockroom. Second, this was a free event with free food being offered. There should be no reason for us to buy our drinks. The line for the tacos wasn't even moving. Seemed like they were purposely moving slowly so the little food they had for the 1000+ crowd would last. They have a meat department. Couldn't they brought out more meat? After bringing it to their attention that the giveaway was fake and reminding them that there are laws against false advertising they laughed it off and hung up. Not even an apology. They since deleted the advertisement from their Facebook. A more suited name for Los Reyes Market should of been Los Gueys Market. read more
