I decided to go with Herchenbach Mechanical after comparing a couple other places in the area. Scheduling an appointment was easy. Curtis and his team came over and installed the AC unit fairly quickly. They were very professional and courteous. Fast forward to a few days ago, my kid decided to throw pieces of chalk down the pipes. I called Herchenbach Mechanical to schedule a time and date that works for me. They will email and text you to confirm your appointment. On the day of your appointment, they will also send you a photo of the technician that will be over. Adam, the technician, was very friendly, knowledgeable, respectful and on time. I told him what happened and he explained what he would need to do to get the chalk out from the pipes. I also scheduled them to clean my AC as well. After Adam finished using the hose from the backyard, everything was neatly put back the way it was. He didn't leave anything out or left a mess. When he was inside the house, he would immediately put on those disposable shoe covers without me having to ask. Herchenbach Mechanical has always provided great, friendly service when I needed them. I have nothing but good things to say about Curtis and his team. Again, highly recommend them! You won't be disappointed.

Highly recommended.

So yesterday, I had an annual A/C checkup. The worker said that the Condenser Fan Motor was leaking…read moresome oil and the Capacitor needed replaced. The cost for them to do it would have $885, at least. I had replaced the capacitor a couple of years ago and they should last longer than that, but I told the worker that I would be replacing all of the parts myself. I called Dana Heating, Cooling, & Supply, told them what I needed. They had a similar motor in stock that would fit, but it had 4 wires instead of the 3 wire motor I currently had. I could wait two days for the exact model or get this one. Because it was 85' that day and would be 90' the next, I opted for the similar model and its corresponding capacitor. When I replaced the motor, it fit perfectly. I got everything back in and the wiring on, but the fan wouldn't turn even though the A/C unit made some noise. When I called Dana HCS back, I talked to the owner who asked me to text some pictures to a different number. He agreed that the original capacitor should probably still work and to add that back into the wiring mix. He told me how to connect the wires using both capacitors (I'm a rookie so didn't know I needed both!) and turned on the unit. Ta-da! I still needed to reverse the blade so that the air blew up, but now I have a working A/C unit. It cost me $158 for parts. Thank you, Dana COOLING, because now we can enjoy our A/C!!

Mr. Duct sent Miguel out to clean our ducts. He did a great job. For those looking at duct cleaning…read moreservices, you should look for National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) certified shops. You should also shop around because some places offer bonus services that you may or may not need, or may even be hazardous to the occupants of the home, like sealants or chemicals. Check the EPA page on "Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned?" for a thorough treatment of the topic, though note that it's much less enthusiastic about duct cleaning than people's subjective experiences, especially people with allergies or sensitivities, or if you've just done a remodel. I'd refer to "Is it worth it to get your air ducts cleaned?" on r/homeowners and "Is air duct cleaning a scam?" on r/hvacadvice. With that out of the way, Miguel cleaned our ducts quite thoroughly. He inserted the vacuum to the air handling unit. This would provide the negative pressure to ensure most of the dust and debris would go to the vacuum. Then he use a air compressor to knock loose the dust at each register and as far into the ventilation as he could push the nozzle. My registers unfortunately went up towards the attic, so dust was guaranteed to get knocked loose into the room, so we had to vacuum. This would have gone smoother if Mr. Duct had sent a partner with Miguel. Miguel was also very helpful in airdropping the photos of the ducts to my phone, which was important because we were trying to identify what might be triggering allergic reactions. For roughly $300, it was very reasonable. I would recommend Mr. Duct to those who need duct cleaning services.

I wish he would've been more careful and taken his time he would have better work quality. He broke my ring holder while moving furniture around (I got credited back) and left residue of the dust behind. Price was good, I would hire them again but not have the same gentleman do the project.
