I decided to go with Herchenbach Mechanical after comparing a couple other places in the area. Scheduling an appointment was easy. Curtis and his team came over and installed the AC unit fairly quickly. They were very professional and courteous. Fast forward to a few days ago, my kid decided to throw pieces of chalk down the pipes. I called Herchenbach Mechanical to schedule a time and date that works for me. They will email and text you to confirm your appointment. On the day of your appointment, they will also send you a photo of the technician that will be over. Adam, the technician, was very friendly, knowledgeable, respectful and on time. I told him what happened and he explained what he would need to do to get the chalk out from the pipes. I also scheduled them to clean my AC as well. After Adam finished using the hose from the backyard, everything was neatly put back the way it was. He didn't leave anything out or left a mess. When he was inside the house, he would immediately put on those disposable shoe covers without me having to ask. Herchenbach Mechanical has always provided great, friendly service when I needed them. I have nothing but good things to say about Curtis and his team. Again, highly recommend them! You won't be disappointed.

The technicians are knowledgeable, skilled, and good communicators. And good listeners! We have been with Herchenbach Mechanical HVAC and also trusted them to be the company to replace our system when it was time. The quote was competitive, and the installation went smoothly. Highly recommended.

    Mr Duct

Mr. Duct sent Miguel out to clean our ducts. He did a great job. For those looking at duct cleaning…read moreservices, you should look for National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) certified shops. You should also shop around because some places offer bonus services that you may or may not need, or may even be hazardous to the occupants of the home, like sealants or chemicals. Check the EPA page on "Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned?" for a thorough treatment of the topic, though note that it's much less enthusiastic about duct cleaning than people's subjective experiences, especially people with allergies or sensitivities, or if you've just done a remodel. I'd refer to "Is it worth it to get your air ducts cleaned?" on r/homeowners and "Is air duct cleaning a scam?" on r/hvacadvice. With that out of the way, Miguel cleaned our ducts quite thoroughly. He inserted the vacuum to the air handling unit. This would provide the negative pressure to ensure most of the dust and debris would go to the vacuum. Then he use a air compressor to knock loose the dust at each register and as far into the ventilation as he could push the nozzle. My registers unfortunately went up towards the attic, so dust was guaranteed to get knocked loose into the room, so we had to vacuum. This would have gone smoother if Mr. Duct had sent a partner with Miguel. Miguel was also very helpful in airdropping the photos of the ducts to my phone, which was important because we were trying to identify what might be triggering allergic reactions. For roughly $300, it was very reasonable. I would recommend Mr. Duct to those who need duct cleaning services.

I wish he would've been more careful and taken his time he would have better work quality. He broke my ring holder while moving furniture around (I got credited back) and left residue of the dust behind. Price was good, I would hire them again but not have the same gentleman do the project.

    Beckman Bros - Company Logo

    Beckman Bros

THIS review is why I joined Yelp. In a world of mediocre to terrible businesses, I had to write…read moreabout the amazingly positive experiences that I keep having time after time with the family-owned Beckman Brothers Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. I'll tell you my overall opinion, and if you want to know the details of the "why" behind it, read-on beyond this next paragraph: Beckman Brothers is a genuinely honest, reliable, experienced, and fair company. Most of their staff is family. At last count, one person wasn't related, and he is a life-long friend of one of the technicians. When you call, John, the owner, typically answers. If you have an emergency, a technician is at your house somewhere between minutes and at worst, a couple of hours. They give you honest analysis and solutions at reasonable prices, usually with good, better, best options. And when they perform the work, it's done right. Simply put, I have never worked with any company, in any of the trades, that I trust and appreciate more. They are what you wish every company would be like. So how'd I get here?... Let me give you a bit of background... I had been using a legacy local HVAC company... A one-man operation, who has his office in downtown Lake Zurich and has been servicing the area for years. He is friendly. Honks his horn as he drives by and tells you his life story when he comes to do work. And here's where the problems are with him... He either lacks knowledge or intentionally strings out issues so that you call him back out, over and over. My final straw was that the flame wouldn't light in my furnace, so I called for repair. He'd diagnose a failed flame sensor and fix it for a hundred bucks. Three months later, same problem. Another hundred bucks later, I get two more months, and, you guessed it, same problem. This is when I asked around, and called Beckman Brothers on a referral from a friend. Martin from Beckman Brothers came out within hours and scoped the furnace to find that there was a crack in the heat exchanger, which not only could have been leaking carbon monoxide into my home every time the furnace fired up, but also was leading to the repeated failures around the flame sensor as the safety kicked in and wouldn't let gas flow. Martin showed me the image from the scope and gave me a written estimate for repairing the furnace. I also asked him for an estimate to replace the entire furnace, as it was around fifteen years old. Out of curiosity, I called my legacy HVAC guy, who came out, and to no surprise, wanted to replace the flame sensor again for another hundred bucks. I told him that after some research, I was concerned about the heat exchanger, as it could be a root cause of my repeated problems. He finally looks and tells me, "your heat exchanger is broken," and the resolution is to, "replace the furnace." Not only did he not find the problem on his own in three visits over five months, but he also gave me one resolution in the end, a quote for a builder-grade furnace that COST MORE than a mid-level Bryant furnace from Beckman Brothers. Needless to say, that was the last time I invited my now former HVAC guy in my house. Since then, Beckman Brothers has replaced two furnaces and two air conditioner condensers. I have a service agreement with them where they come out twice a year (once for Heat and once for A/C) for preventative maintenance. Since switching to Beckman Brothers, the only issue I have had was a furnace intermittently turning off because of a dirty flame sensor during an unusually early cold snap. Had my annual maintenance been scheduled for two weeks earlier than it was set for, I wouldn't have even had that problem. Bottom line, I cannot endorse a company more than I do Beckman Brothers Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. And if you have an issue, do not hesitate to call them. You will get honest service and fair options. I am confident you will not regret it.

The man who…read morecame out told us our HVAC hasn't been properly cleaned by the other company we used for years, he told us that he needed to use a hose to clean it and our balcony would get flooded with the water. He also said it would take several hours, we weren't able to have him do anything the day of our appointment because we had to leave in 2 hours. He left and said we'd get an email to reschedule our appointment. We didn't get an email so I reached out and never heard back from them. On top of that, our AC stopped working after he left, we hired another company and found out Beckman Bros intentionally broke our unit!
