The Totoro figurine outside…read moreimmediately caught my attention and when I walked in, there were life sized figurines of Naruto, Monkey D. Luffy, and Goku. There is a collection of anime, manga, origami kits, cloths, blind boxes, houseware, kitchenware, art and posters, figures, DIY kits, Funko pops, gatcha machines, and a plethora of other Japanese treasures. On the right of the store next to the outside deck with tables, there is a Japanese food market with authentic imported pre-packed Japanese foods like instant ramen, different kinds of Japanese noodles, Japanese grocery items, snacks and chips, sweets and candy and ice cream, Japanese drinks and anime theme drinks. By the registers, there are free arcade games to play. I took my time walking through the store and looking at everything. It could be overwhelming at first. I really liked looking at the Sanrio, The Studio Ghibli Collection, and Pokemon items. I learned after that Arisu means "Alice" in Japanese and it's a tribute to their first store "Alice in the Village" which is also located in Olde Mystic Village. If you're in Olde Mystic Village, definitely stop by and take a look at Arisu Anime and Alice in the Village.

I did notice that some stuff, like the Hello Kitty ramen I usually get at Target, was more expensive here, but honestly, the variety, the atmosphere, and how nice the staff is make it worth stopping by. I also got Christmas pudding off the clearance table, I thought would be tops $3.00, it was $7.00. It's the size of a tiny can of cat food. It had to be microwaved. It wasn't very good. Although he be small, he be huge in what he carries. He, being Allen the Owner. Absolutely a funny, kind and attentive shopkeeper. Krystal also is so friendly and helpful. A wonderful pair whomever is there when you stop in. A clean and well organized shop. PLENTY of choices whether it be tea, sweets, gifts, frozen meats or turnovers and the best damn ketchup EVER. The list goes on. The rooms are small but what Allen carries in this shop is amazing. This shop has encouraged us to also check out Northampton. Wow this town has a lot to offer. If you're not familiar with it, like us, definitely look into the town/city before making a trip. Make a day of it. And bring a cooler for the turnover, popovers and meats you'll be toting home :)

This place is a real goldmine for anything British/Irish, and I can get all my favourite foods from childhood here. His selection of frozen pies, bacon, haggis, jams, clotted cream, crisps (chips) and sweets (candy) is impressive, and pricing is good for imported foods. Alan is a wonderful man, very attentive and knows where absolutely everything is. The only drawback is that public parking can sometimes be hard to find as it fills up quickly outside.

I was pretty surprised to see that both Santa and Ms. Clause was pretty good production imo--rather then your cheap Santa suit look and feel. We arrived as soon as the event started at 12pm and the line was already out the door. To give you an idea, it takes about 40 minutes in total if you're starting by the door. Those who visit, the line can get long so dress warm. The line does extend to the outside--but once you get inside, it's warm. After pictures with the Clauses, you're more than welcome to shop in their shop. They got a large variety of chocolate, and have the "fancier" chocolate on display. A friend brought me here while I was visiting Northampton and what a treat! $80 later I left with a hand warming mug, a pair of earrings, a bracelet, a roast baster, and a delicious treat called a wrapple (an apple turnover on steroids). I left there with visions of a T-shirt that I will buy for my cat-loving friend entitled "Petting map" which showed all the reachable petting zones on a cat with hilarious captions like "yes, please" and "don't even think about it." Not verbatim but you get the idea. This outfit had all the qualities of the best general store--stocks everything you could ever want, something for everyone, with friendly and helpful staff.
