It was a beautiful day, the river floated us alongside lovely trees and interesting rock formations, past some swifter waters, many channels, but nothing hair-raising, which was just right for us. Greg is knowledgeable and gave us an interesting picture of the river as a changing living things, which he knows as hunter, fishing guide and raft captain. He loves the river and had lots of good stories and was happy to stay quiet when we just wanted to listen. We didn't get wet, but we did wish we had worn our long underwear and had brought some extra layers as the wind on the river was strong in places. We look forward to another float int he future.

The B&B is a few minutes drive out on the outskirts of Forks, just the right distance to be convenient and yet very private. You're only about a 15 minute drive to La Push beaches and about 45 min to the Hoh Rainforest. We were fortunate enough to be able to rent the River House over Memorial Day due to a last minute cancellation (book early, it can be booked out several weeks in advance). The house has plenty of space indoors, with all the amenities and rustic cabin decor. The Bogachiel runs a stone's throw from the spacious outdoor deck. We'll loved our stay and will definitely be back.

If you are looking for a fishing guide for steelhead in the rivers around Forks, WA, we highly recommend Lost Forest Fishing. Personally, I had not fished at all in several years and initially booked the trip just for my husband, who is an avid fly fisherman. I went along for the boat ride the first day just to enjoy the scenery and Mike encouraged me to give the fishing a try the next day. By the end of the week, Mike had taught me the basics of a single spey cast AND I brought my first ever wild steelhead to net while nymphing from the boat. My husband, the experienced fisherman, also had a very successful four days fishing and greatly appreciated Mike's instruction and knowledge of the rivers. We definitely plan to make a return trip to Forks next winter and look forward to more fishing with Lost Forest Fishing. Mike also guides in the Jackson Hole area during the summer season and we hope to make a trip down there sometime this year or next to fish with Mike.

I watched out the window as Terry drove past parking lots full of other guides, then past a popular stretch of river saturated with walk-in anglers, before dropping us into one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and NO ONE ELSE was in sight ALL DAY! It was just a bonus that we hit it on a good day and managed to land almost every species of fish on the river!!! This beach is absolutely beautiful! It is located on Highway 112 near the Sunset West Co-op. When…read moreyou see the Co-op on your right, continue down the road for another 15 feet and turn on the immediate right after. It's not very easy to see! The parking lot is a decent size and there are two bathrooms. The trail isn't very long. The beach is made of sand and small polished pebbles. There are very few sharp rocks. The gravel is very smooth. The beach is mostly made up of sand. The waves crash down and leave beautiful foam patterns on the sand. When the days are overcast, the water appears to be a clear green-blue. On sunny days, the water looks very, very blue. The water is clear! This is a wonderful place to walk, play in the water, and to take pictures. I went on Saturday and Sunday 6/7/14 and 6/8/14. I am going back next week! Came here after hobuck beach, which is like an 8 minute drive away. Much prettier with the sunset…read morejust over the water body. Couple of parking spots to the side. No hiking trails around here. But, still so pretty when I first entered. No one else on the beach, so I was just running around and splashing on the water. Got to easily see the thunderstorm and lightning with my own eyes over the tall and green trees. I was not scared, but more so in awe at how cool the sight looked. Sand here much nicer than the one at hobuck beach, too Trailhead had a cute, wooden boardwalk at the start that were in the shade of the tall and skinny treescovered in moss. It was so nice to breathe the air here and there is so much side street parking no matter what time you come. I came during prime hours that were later in the day, but not too late...still was able to park! Just watch your step for the muddy parts and the change in elevation with the boardwalk steps

A must visit beach if you are exploring the Olympic NP! Although it's associated with the park, the…read morebeach is on reservation land, so an additional $20 entrance fee is required. The hike to the beach is about 2 miles, very muddy, but it truly feels like you are walking through a rainforest. It's also the best trail to spot banana slugs! The beach itself is incredible, especially during low tide with amazing tide pools. It's much less crowded than other beaches in the area, giving you plenty of space to explore. You can walk along the shoreline for miles. Overnight camping on the beach is also allowed!

Ruby Beach was a stop I missed during my 2023 Olympic trip. This time around, I made sure to add it…read moreto my itinerary. Driving over from my lodging in Quinault took about 50 minutes. Along the way, I stopped at some other coastal overlooks and made Ruby Beach the grand finale. On a September Wednesday, the lot was nearly full. It was a nice day-not too chilly with the sun out. Later on, the fog rolled in and made the scenery even more dramatic. It was a lovely coastal walk. The sea stacks were amazing and even though the tide was coming in, I managed to see a few sea stars. To get to the beach, it's a short downhill path, with a gentle grade. Although it's super popular, if you walk far enough, there's solitude to be had. Ruby Beach lives up to its hype and absolutely worth visiting while on the coast.
