We were looking for a dentist for a second opinion since the pediatric dentist I had gone to previously said my four year old daughter had two cavities, and that to fill them I would not be able to go back in the room with her, and that they would need to strap her down (something I was not going to allow to happen to my child). We went to see Dr. Mary Beth yesterday, and she was wonderful. She talked to my daughter and made her feel completely comfortable, then she explained everything she was going to do in a very calm way. She said that she only had one small cavity, and was able to fill it without using Novocain (so no shot). I'm so glad we went there. I was practically having a panic attack when picturing a dentist strapping my daughter down and drilling in her mouth. Everything was pleasant and presented in a non-scary way with Dr. Mary Beth.

They looked a grieving Black teenager in the face and told her, "We don't know if we can trust you," simply because our family experienced a death. The underlying bias and utter lack of human decency in that room was loud and clear. On top of the emotional cruelty, their billing practices are completely fraudulent. Her plan was strictly agreed upon at $145 a month. My daughter called ahead to confirm everything was fine, yet when she arrived, the front desk aggressively demanded a $1,000 lump sum on her next visit or they would force-remove her braces. When she called them out on a random $416 "adjustment" they suddenly slapped onto the ledger to manipulate the numbers, they couldn't even explain their own messy math and just stared at her in silence. They don't track phone calls, their staff tells completely conflicting stories, and they use scare tactics to exploit families going through a crisis. This corporate office views patients as dollar signs, not human beings, and their targeting behavior today was unacceptable. We have officially fired this clinic. If you are a Black family or anyone who expects basic human respect and honest billing, stay far away from Perfect Smiles of Beverly. They crossed a major line today.

I now live quite a distance away, but I continued with Dr. Hlousek because I liked him so much and had been a patient for years. Since he retired, I want a dentist closer to where I live. "Smile," the dental practice which took over from him, told me that Dr. Hlousek would send me my records. I offered to pick them up, but they declined. After a month, I called again. This time, they said their parent company would have to review my request. I cannot find any way to contact Dr. Hlousek directly. Saturday, January 18, 2025 11:30 AM Scheduled Appointment…read more MY REVIEW I left out of the dentist office around 1:50 PM today. I am still sitting here in the parking lot. He's an AMAZING dentist . This dentist has the PATIENCE OF A SAINT, especially having to deal with me and my anxieties. He did something that NO OTHER DENTIST has ever done for me. He took his time. He didn't try to rush the process. He talked me through. First he numbed my gums with topical anesthetic. Shortly thereafter he followed up with a needle injection with local anesthetic. Whenever and wherever I told him that I could feel the pinch or hit a nerve, he IMMEDIATELY provided me with additional local anesthetic. It got to a point where I NO LONGER COULD FEEL A THING. I settled in my seat and let him work. At 61 years old, this is the first real dentist visit that made me feel that he listened to me, he heard me, and he obliged me. He focused on my comfort. I was crying with all of the needle injections, but then the meaning of my tears changed from pain to joy as I realized that I was finally going to get through the dental service that I needed and I now have a dentist that I am going to stick with forever. I still can't feel the right side of my face, but the anesthetic is slowly but surely wearing off. I was given a couple of prescriptions for the pain, but I am going to go ahead and try to sleep through the pain without any medicine. I have a short visit with the dentist on Thursday and then I have another Saturday appointment for him to work on the left side of my mouth. The dentist mentioned those slightly loose teeth at the bottom front of my mouth. They were loose enough that if he removed 100% of the plaque between the teeth, he said that he was afraid that they would fall out. Thus, during my next procedure in February, he's going to create a type of splint to keep those slightly loose teeth stabilized while my gums begin to heal and get stronger. Ultimately, if everything goes as planned, I will KEEP ALL 32 OF MY TEETH. Heading to Smoothie King and then home. I don't think that I will be able to eat nothing but soft foods for a few days. This is a fairly expensive journey, but it's one that can yield an abundance of dividends. I'm finally going to have both my of daughter's smiles.
