Blue Moon,, I love you sm!! If you're coming here; you are looking for spandex fabric, point blank they do not sell anything else. YES, sometimes their prices can be $$ compared to other retailers either online or in Santee that require much more browsing frankly. They do have any online website but judging by some other reviews here, might not be great at keeping it up to date. Parking in Santee is always challenging, do not be swayed by the cheap $3 parking advertisements to lure you into a parking structure only for them to demand $20 parking. If you have time and aren't buying a lot (and therefore don't have to carry much), browse the surrounding streets for street metered parking. You may have to walk several blocks but I promise that is the cheapest parking you will find. Blue Moon carries the MOST color variances in spandex as well as spandex TEXTURE, PRINTS, and even glow in the dark (!!!) that you will find in DTLA. If you are hyper specific for a certain color, come here, you will almost certainly find it. They carry both 2-way and 4-way stretch spandex as well as sweat wicking activewear spandex. As someone who needs specific colors of spandex and enjoys browsing, Blue Moon is so great for me. read more

Ok so I ordered 4 yards of fabric but got fabric samples instead. I emailed and called and they offered to ship me new ones that day but because I needed it quickly I went down there in person. The correct order was ready to go and they refunded me the shipping cost. So while it was an inconvenience and now I'm working overtime to get this project done for my client, I appreciate how quickly they rectified it. I might order again from them if it's not a rush. As a physical store Blue Moon Fabrics is lovely, though I've only been there once while in was traveling. I manage a large fabrication shop in NYC for Broadway production costumes. I was very excited to find them as a supplier for our 100+ client builds per year. However; as an online seller, they are NOTORIOUSLY unreliable and slow. In the past 8 attempted orders: -only once were all items listed as "in-stock" actually available -not once did the items get processed and shipped within 10 days of ordering -not once (including seven times expedited shipping was paid for) were items received anywhere near the date projected (the fastest being 2.5 weeks after they claimed it would be delivered). Their selection and quality is quite good, but after talking to two other fashion shops in the city, they both had the exact same experience. Fine for consumers, but for professional shops I strongly recommend you ignore this seller as an option, or you'll likely get burned badly waiting for your delivery to arrive as we have (if it ever does arrive in the end). read more

After shopping here for nearly 10 years, I'm ashamed to say that it took drama for me to finally write the 5 star review that Blue Moon deserves. My younger sister and I have been shopping here for nearly 10 years while we were CA residents. Every visit was always a good experience. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. We'd try to visit nearly every month because their fabric is amazing!! Some people may thinks it's a tad expensive, but their products are superior, particularly their spandex. They have colors and designs that you'll never find anywhere else. The fabric is an exceptional quality, vibrant and dazzling colors that catch everyone's attention. My sister and I design ballroom dresses for dancers on a budget. Because their fabric is so stunning, we don't have to go too crazy on the stones, making it affordable for everyone. I mentioned drama, here's the drama. Last month, I was in CA and my younger sister and I had saved up to buy fabric in person. I had a very large order and having been a frequent patron of the store, I didn't check my receipt. Had I done so, I'd have noticed that I was charged for two fabrics that I didn't order! . And to make matters worse I noticed this when I was back in AZ. TSA broke my bag with the fabrics and lost my receipt. I only noticed the error when I created an account. So, I reached out, not expecting to get anything back. A huge shout out to Evelyn for handling my situation like a queen be. And I was having a horrible day. I had a doctor's appointment with bad news, Hobby Lobby was out of stock of fringe that they put on special order, I came home to find my mother was sick, I had a non-dance related client cancel me. (Who cancels their wedding cake order 13 days before the wedding, then refuse to pay?!) So, clearly at this point, I do not sound like a customer that anyone wants to deal with. I wouldn't want to deal with myself!!Evelyn was able to handle me & my nerves and every problem that came her way. There were issues with the gift card refund, the points, we got disconnected and every bad thing that could happen, she dealt with perfectly. In the end she got me squared away and all was resolved. I will continue buying fabric from Blue Moon and hope that they expand to other states in time. Phoenix would be ideal as there's there's crying need for fabric stores out here!! I don't have photos of a the hundred+ dresses I've made from fabric I've purchased. But here are the 2 I did for my last 2 clients. Both students completed for the first time in these dresses and placed in the top 10 on their first competition. (And yes, they get points for apparel.) read more

I also like that I can order online and do curbside pickup as parking in DTLA fashion district can be difficult. As for the materials, they have THE BEST selection of spandex solids prints and recycled! They are my go to for all! The prices are pretty standard for the quality. You can get cheaper spandex elsewhere but you get what you pay for and this material is quality. I have gone in person and ordered online many times and every time I am extremely happy with my order. Let's start with, They Are Rude Asf and Expensive! Expensive isn't the problem it's the level of customer service. If I walk in Gucci I'm greeted immediately rather I'm buying a sock or a $10000 coat. So I expect to be greeted when I come in spending $100s of dollars every time I shop here for my business. The women are who you see when you first walk in and they act as if typing on the computer or talking to each other is more important than greeting their customer. I set at the counter as they walked around me before I asked is anyone going to ask if I need help. Their excuse was oh I thought someone was helping you. That's not a good response at all. I have relationships with a lot of stores dtla and this store is the only one that gives me a customer service issue most of the time. Fabric quality is amazing and sometimes worth the price. Best quality with the coolest patterns, and nicely organized fabric shop in downtown. The guys who work there are very quick to help you size and cut your choices and are very nice. The prices are a little bit on the expensive side, but good with their wholesale pricing. Theres also a whole section in the back of patterns for 5$/yard which is a steal if you can find something you like. Came in yesterday looking for a special fabric for a dress I want to make.. The store is well organized and fancy compared to all the surrounding stores. Definitely sticks out. The people that work there are really helpful and friendly... Showed them what I was looking for and showed me exactly that.. The have a beautiful large selection and special things that you don't find in other stores... The prices are higher then the surrounding stores that's the only reason I knocked them down 1 star.
