Sad to see how much this place has declined--used to love it even tho it's always been a bit pricy (we've been going there for years...since they opened)...but today we had such a disappointing experience we won't be back: we walked in, there was no one waiting to be seated (which is unusual as there's usually a line out the door of people waiting)...we stood there & waited over 5 min before anyone even acknowledged we had walked thru the door...there were empty tables so it wasn't like they were jamming busy & the normal 2 waitresses & a waiter/busboy for a place that has maybe 15-20 tables total. After 5 minutes another couple walks in...Finally a waitress acknowledges us and says "2" and we say yes; she asks the same thing to the other couple & then she walks away without saying anything more even though there are two tables for two already set up, ready for us to sit down. We wait almost another 5 min. before finally we're seated next to the other couple at the same time...we're so close we're practically rubbing elbows...like 6" away. Waiter/busboy comes over & asks the other couple what they wanted to drink, ignored us and walked away...comes back with their coffee and water and again walks away ignoring us. At this point it's almost 15 min. after we walked into a not full restaurant with no one waiting in line & people that came in 5 min. after us were being waited on & we're sitting there with no water, no coffee, no one asking what we'd like to eat, like we're invisible...so we got up and left...sadly no longer going here or telling people to go here as it's not what it used to be. Used to be over priced but wicked friendly and fun...Now it's over priced with incompetent wait staff with major attitudes. No thanks. read more

This restaurant is in walking distance from my house which is nice. They have call ahead seating and I've used that twice now. The first time, we were seated twenty minutes after the time that was given to me and it was at a shared table. The second try was when my boyfriend and I were taking his parents out to breakfast. We used call ahead seating but then waited an additional 30 minutes in the car. The place is very small but they could be a bit more organized. The food is good but it's not anything to write home about and I certainly won't wait in my car another 1/2 hour to eat it. read more

I got my husband to try this place with me on a whim, seeing as I drive by it just about every day. Complimentary mini fruit salad was really nice, but our waitress forgot it. There was another waitress there who was really quick, having it ready for other customers before they even got in the door (she actually got ours). It got busy really quickly, seeing as it is so tiny. When new customers sat next to us, they got a "daily specials" menu. We weren't offered it, had no idea there were any specials. We would've been interested to see what they had, but had placed our orders already. Either way, service was quick, waitresses were very nice and friendly. I'm a huge corn beef hash fan, so I was disappointed to see that their hash was from the can. Otherwise, my husband got a Greek omelet that was really delicious, and my scrambled eggs and potatoes were great too. I'd totally give this place another shot. read more

We ate breakfast here on Labor day & luckily got a table before a big rush. When we left there were about 12-15 people waiting for tables. The place is small, but the do pack in the people. The restaurant looks to be run by a husband & wife team that are on top of everything happening at all times in their establishment. They really hustled to make everyone & everything in the restaurant work like clockwork. I ordered a turkey club off the lunch menu which was not a problem at all. My partner ordered an omelet which was huge & hot. The food was great and the service spot on. Whenever we are back in Wakefield we will definitely be back. It was a pleasure to see 2 people really working hard at their business and apparently, successfully doing it , adding a great place to eat into the community. I wish them luck in all that they do & hope they are in business a very long time. We did see some other plates & the pancakes are HUGE!!!! Went back after a couple years. Food was very good as usual with a creative menu. Would love to try this place for lunch sometime. They really should expand though as there is always a wait after 9am. Best place for a great breakfast with unique and creative choices in the area. Delicious! Corned beef hash made with real corned beef pieces. Tasty toasted bagel. Much better than diner food, good service.

the food was wonderful. I hade the Italian omlet...stuffed with cut up sausage onions and peppers and provolone cheese. I was only able to eat half. This included a side of home fries and toast. I asked for no butter and got no butter. Yes. home fries were ok...a bit mushy. Don't know if it is regional thing but be aware of it. this place has a good selection of specialty pancakes...like white chocolate or regular chocolate. Be aware when going that the huge parking lot next door is NOT for Blue Moon customer parking. Sad the neighbors will tow your car. guess I won't browse those places after breakfast. This place loses a star due to LA know of drink refills. I got there before Sunday morning rush and got my food but never got a coffee refill nor was I asked if I wanted one. Staff was hugely friendly but me and the two top next to me got no follow up service. And tables are a bit too lose for comfort. I we have had to ask another patron to get up to let me by but fortunately my neighbors we were leaving as well. overall great food and friendly staff but if they get busy, and the rush hit all at once seriously from 5 tables seated to a wait in 5 minutes, then you will run out of coffee. I went to eat breakfast at The Blue Moon Dinner the wait was about 15 minutes and when we were finally seated the waitress tried to seat two adults and my teenage son at a small two top table. We asked the waitress if it would be ok to put the empty two top table next to us in order to have a comfortable meal. She told us no so we decided to leave the restaurant. The waitress then proceeded to follow us out to our car and try to explain the they always seat parties of three at two tops. This was very uncomfortable and I felt disrespected when she tried to make excuses for trying to seat my family at this tiny table! After such an inappropriate encounter with the waitress, we will never again dine at The Blue Moon Dinner! read more

We've been coming here every once in awhile since we first moved to the area about 5 years ago. It used to be packed and we'd always call ahead for a table. Menu was substantial but not overly large, service was always friendly and the food was amazing. We returned today after a long hiatus and it was a major disappointment. We called ahead but were surprised to see empty tables and no line when we got there. We were ignored by two waitresses before a third finally seated us. Additionally, the menu has expanded greatly so much so it takes a long time to get through it all and make a decision. I tried the sweet potato omelet for the first time and sadly was turned off the second it arrived at the table. The tarragon sauce that was on top of the omelet was a gelatinous glob that clearly had been sitting for awhile and was completely unappetizing. I scraped as much as I could off the omelet but what remained was tasteless and added nothing to the dish. The toast was barely toasted and soaked with butter, everything else was just mediocre. Not sure what happened to this place but can see why it wasn't as busy as usual. We'll probably try to find a different breakfast place from now on. read more

So clearly we picked the wrong day. My first visit was on a weekday an hour before closing. Given its popularity, I was surprised to see only one other table occupied. Then began one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food was mediocre - and I'm being generous. Nothing was hot and since there were only a couple of other diners in the place, I don't know why it didn't get to us while hot. We both left most of the food on our plates - and declined to take any of it home. Ambiance? The staff had a very loud disagreement in the open kitchen for most of our visit. The noise level was so high that I had trouble hearing my friend. Oh yuh, and someone was carpet sweeping for most of our visit. Perfect. North Ave Diner, Omelette Headquarters, Early Harvest - are all MUCH better in every respect than this place. My friend told me she had just met someone at North Ave Diner and raved about the quality of the food. Wish I were there. I couldn't wait to leave - and apparently nobody noticed that we had as they went about their day. Truly awful. read more

Had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated even thought there were 2 tables open when we arrived. Once seated, it took forever go get someone to come over to wait on us as there was only one waitress working. When our food finally came it wasn't good and the portions were small. To top it off they charged us an extra dollar when they ran our credit card. Definitely will not return. read more

Today was our third visit and we weren't disappointed. The menu is what makes this place special. In addition to the standard breakfast fare, Blue Moon offers a number of Spanish, Italian, Irish and Mediterranean dishes benedicts of all sorts abound. And they serve crepes, probably the best values on the menu. I find the food to be creative and good, with some exceptions. The coffee is OK at best, and they're not so eager to refill your cup ( but with the quality of the coffee that isn't a bad thing). The home fries are bland and mushy (why is it so difficult for places that offer breakfast to make decent home fries? Some onion, pepper, seasoning, cut into small pieces so a crust can form.). The toast tends to be warm, not crunchy, and you have to ask for butter. The crepes and omelette are filled, the French toast is very cinnamony, the hash tastes fresh. The pancakes are a matter of personal taste. The batter is dense and flavorful. If you like your stack light, these are not for you. We have found the waitstaff to be pleasant and efficient, but an additional waitress would lessen the load and make the others less rushed. It is a small place so waits are inevitable. And parking is street only and can be difficult most days. You have options here that other restaurants don't, so it's worth the trip just for the variety. Prices are on the high side for a small place but, again, where else can I go for a crepe, or an Irish potato skin or Italian French toast. For regular fare, there are less expensive options available, but for something a little different, this is the place. read more

My partner Jonathan and I love this place. Thanks to Yelp we discovered it a few weeks ago. It's an authentic neighborhood place. A lot of people jammed into a tight space and everyone is happy to be there. The staff are real characters and they always greet you with a smile. They work hard to keep everything running. There is one waiter/runner who looks like a young Casey Kasem. He doesn't say much yet he exudes an inner beauty and a graceful silent knowing. The food is amazing. So tasty and well prepared. I love that they have vegan/vegetarian options. Jonathan loved the Salmon Eggs Benedict. I highly recommend this place. You may have a short wait to get in but it is well worth it. read more

We were a party of three and they would not accommodate us at another table. We were laughed at for leaving. Wanted to knock this little lady out. Refraining from saying anything further. A not so 'hidden jewel' in Wakefield! I recently took family members there to celebrate my birthday...breakfast is my favorite meal and they serve it all day! It was awesome. We ordered some of the specialty pancakes for 'tasting' and the Italian French Toast with Nutella and bananas was a big hit. Orders ranged from tasty omelets, egg benedict to a hamburger and chicken cacciatore. The cacciatore had melt-in-your mouth chicken. Service was terrific and Nancy and Kathy did everything to make the event special. It is a tiny restaurant but they offer to take your cellphone number and will call you so you don't have to wait outside in the cold (you can keep cozy in your car or visit the surrounding shops). The food and service here are both pretty good and it's definitely become one of a few breakfast places we'll go on a Sunday morning. The only problem is the small size of the dining room. You could easily sit at a table with another party if you're part of a small group or in elbow-knocking range of the customers next to you. This has never really bothered me, but if you're not good in a crowd, maybe go somewhere else. It makes the wait a bit long too, but they let you leave your phone number or call ahead which is super convenient. The food is good, the specials are always great and the prices are reasonable for breakfast. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I like Blue Moon a lot. read more
