I had it topped with two over medium eggs which were perfectly cooked. As I was eyeing the French toast, he gave me a single piece which included their fruit infused whipped cream and was really, really good! That might be my entree next time. My new best friend Maria kept my coffee mug full-she visited the table frequently to make sure my mug never got low nor cold. She also took care to clean the table promptly as plates were finished. There is an omelet bar here but they don't use different pans for making a veg omelet. I did taste meat on my omelet. I was fine eating it but others at the table weren't. When we first sat down we were welcomed and told that they serve the best corned beef hash in New England and they weren't lying!!! Went for breakfast Sunday about 9 AM. It was pretty busy with a slight wait for a table and some open seats at the bar. We waited for a few minutes until another group left and we could be sat. It is a pretty small space with lots of tables crammed in there. They were quick to get us seated and asked for our drink order immediately- two coffees and a hot chocolate. We did have to remind them about the hot chocolate but got the coffees right away. The hot chocolate was really pretty but a little watered down but still good. We ordered the fruit crepe, crispy French toast, blueberry pancakes, two sides of sausage, and a side of two scrambled eggs with cheese. The food came out relatively quickly and was warm.. I believe one of the chefs brought it and he made sure to mention that the French toast had an apple crisp drizzle and the pancakes a special butter and recommended we try first before adding syrup like you would on a normal French toast or pancake. The pancake order came with three decent sized pancakes and were pretty dense. The fruit crepe had a great presentation along with the crispy French toast. The flavor of the French toast was good - the apple crisp topping was very complementary and a nice touch. It wasn't super "crispy" but had a nice coating that added texture and slight crunch compared to your average French toast. They had syrup at the table and we ultimately did use a little for both pancake and French toast order. The service was pretty good - but they didn't really come back to check in and make sure we were all set, but they had a coffee runner who made sure coffees were full. They brought the check and then started clearing the table - and we were then politely asked to leave as there was a party or two waiting. The guy was polite about it, and we were about ready to go anyways but it was a little odd as we hadn't been sitting there extra long - for example there were other tables still there seated before us. Speaking as someone who worked at a breakfast restaurant for years, I get it. It's fast paced and about getting people in and out - so I wasn't upset and again they were polite, but we were wrapping up anyways and just caught us a little off guard. There is not much of a waiting area either, so if it is busy be prepared to stand outside - which on a cold, snowy, winter morning is not ideal. (There is literally only the tiny entrance area) so I'm sure that was another reason for the rush in getting a table opened. It is on Main Street so no parking lot but there is street parking and some areas around the block available. The menu is both breakfast and lunch - I found the breakfast side to be decent but short filled with lots of the sweets (pancakes, waffles, French toast) and then a few other items like eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwich, a hash, oatmeal, "live" omelet, and huevos rancheros. If you want a typical breakfast like eggs, breakfast meat, hasbrowns, and toast it seemed you'd order from the sides menu... not a big deal or problem, but might be a good idea to add a meal option like that - and would recommend maybe adding a side meat or fruit to the sweet dishes included instead of as an up-charge. All and all, it was a good spot and experience - a nice local diner to get some good breakfast or lunch and unique twists on some of your faves. read more

I feel blessed. I can get on Yelp and find all kinds of outstanding breakfast spots within 15 minutes of my house. And that's exactly how we located H&H for the very first time just recently. Located right on Main St. in Reading in front of several parking meters, plus easily accessible nearby lots and side streets comes yet another classic early morning spot I hope is open for decades. Walk in and be greeted by the most vibrant, smiling brekky faces the world has ever seen! The entire mural is simply adorable and will keep you happy the entire time, apparently a local artist did it and may be a relative of the owners. High tops and low tables will greet you, we are still in that high chair phase so we were up towards the front next to the omelette station. And while I'm sure their lunch items are yummy alone, we were here and will probably always be here for those dishes usually served before 10 AM. My kids absolutely devoured their french toast and they can be pretty picky about it at times. They also loved the side of hash browns, which was an add-on to this particular dish. I got the huevos rancheros after spotting a few Yelp photos in advance and my wife had the crepes. She said it was a little light on the fruit but overall very tasty. The rancheros had a good kick to it, the tostada was super crispy and help up well with all of the toppings and it was loaded with beans and a bunch of other goodies. A nice touch was the avacado on the side. Service was OUTSTANDING. I got the turkey club sandwhich, but I think this is the only place this restaurant fell a little short for me. The turkey was presliced salty deli meat I would expect at a grab and go gas station sandwich , and only one or two thin slices on the each layer, as if it were a slice of cheese . Speaking of which, the American cheese is indeed the yellow American, as advertised , but the cheddar was basically white American cheese with little distinct flavor . Cabot's cheddar this was not . I would have preferred just Swiss cheese instead of these two preprocessed cheese slices. It looked like other people were having great food , and I'd like to give this place another chance if I come by this way again (maybe the burgers or the eggs are better by the looks of other people's meals).
