Mud Puppies is located on Highway 620 in a shopping strip mall. The front desk staff greeted me warm and friendly. I was immediately offered assistance and pointed to an assortment of dog toys. In fact, I did not know that there were so many dog toys. In fact, momentarily I was paralyzed with fear of making a decision. After exploring some possibilities, I decided to defer my decision until I looked at one more place. Mud puppies also offers Playcare, just like day care for children but for dogs in addition to pet grooming and boarding. The team works with each dog's unique personality. Based on my interactions with the staff, I would feel comfortable leaving a dog with them.

After boarding her this time (we've been customers there for years), we were told she displayed behaviors such as growling and was no longer welcome to return. What I find most concerning is that this facility also promotes dog training services, yet there was no effort to discuss what may have triggered her behavior, offer recommendations, suggest training options, or work with us on a plan for future success. Instead, we were simply told not to bring her back. I fully understand that any boarding facility has the right to make decisions based on safety concerns. However, anxious and fearful behaviors are not uncommon in boarding environments, and I expected a business that offers training services to have a more knowledgeable and supportive approach. As pet owners, we trust boarding facilities to care for our dogs during what can already be a stressful experience. Rather than feeling supported, we left feeling judged and dismissed. If your dog struggles with anxiety or fear in unfamiliar situations, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions about how those behaviors are assessed and managed before booking. We'll gladly be taking our business elsewhere and won't be back with our current dog or any future dogs.

Somehow, he seems younger: more energy, more interest in his surroundings, and noticeably more alert. On his walk, he had a new spring in his step (he's usually stiff after sleeping most of the day) and was focused and eager to move forward. He typically barks at strangers, but this time showed no interest--and dare I say, he even seemed better trained. At home, he wasn't food-focused in his behavior, and I truly believe he thinks he's still going to get the same level of activity and stimulation he enjoyed at Dogtopia. Your dog is given the best type of socialization with other dogs of similar size and energy. Along with the solicitation, you get to learn valuable lessons on how to train and prepare your dog to be the best pet around. What makes this place better than the rest is the property. After touring multiple day cares in Austin, you soon learn that they all give the dogs a box the size of a bedroom to try and get their energy out. HP takes it to the next level with a massive field with toys and obstacles that they can run until they're tired. Our pup would come back each week, and instantly pass out. One word of advice, if you have a dog like ours, be prepared for a bath when you get home, because they will come home dirty. Went in to see Dr. Douglas who felt it was scar tissue from an injury. Sent us home with an anti inflammatory and antibiotics. 14 days after the meds were gone, we called and advised the mass had not shrunk. We came in and paid for a biopsy but the vet could not get one. We were told it was scar tissue from an unknown injury and nothing to worry about. $500 total with no biopsy. We since got a second opinion, and the dog has Cancer. When we followed up with Dr, Douglas, the receptionist said the surgeon who is there once a week was indeed concerned after relooking at the picture. There were lots of mixed signals and we could have lost our dog. We would not return to this Dr.

I really can't say enough about Liberty Hill Animal Hospital (LHAH). Let me just say my dog does…read morenot care for vet visits. He gets absolutely spasmodic. He starts making these deep throaty growls that make him seem more like a "feral hog" than a pug. It's scary sometimes the sounds he makes. It took three trips to this venue to finally get him acclimated to the team. Dr. McJett and her team is so patient and supportive of our little maniac. She has recommended so many helpful tips to help us. Our Max had an ear infection and he would not put us treat him at home. After several attempts, Dr. McJett was able to pack it and allow the healing to begin. At least to a point where we could start home treatment. Other local vets were unsuccessful. I Love the fact that they will always give you a price estimate upfront, before they start the service. No surprises. No "Invoice Shock". Just honest upfront cost reports. The team here treats us like family...no better than family. Like employees. Offering a service that's tailored for you. So bring your fur buddies here and let "LHAH" attend to your needs. Michael and his team are amazing and take excellent care of our babies. Our previous dog, Cornbread(RIP) LOVED going from the time he was a young boy to a senior man. They took amazing care of him through the years and maintained his many medications when he started to slow down. He was placed with dogs who were at his speed and I loved getting to watch him on the webcams. We later adopted a new dog, who is very selective of who he likes...they were so patient with getting to know him and introducing him to camp. Now he loves it and pulls us through the door as soon as we arrive. We love that we can trust he's in safe hands and know he's having a blast.
