I just picked up my 10-year-old toy dog from Dogtopia today after a full week stay--which is a long time for him--and I honestly can't say enough good things. He looks amazing. Somehow, he seems younger: more energy, more interest in his surroundings, and noticeably more alert. On his walk, he had a new spring in his step (he's usually stiff after sleeping most of the day) and was focused and eager to move forward. He typically barks at strangers, but this time showed no interest--and dare I say, he even seemed better trained. At home, he wasn't food-focused in his behavior, and I truly believe he thinks he's still going to get the same level of activity and stimulation he enjoyed at Dogtopia. One of the best parts of his time there is the professional, supervised interaction with other dogs his own size. I never second-guess taking him to Dogtopia. Great for big dogs with lots of energy, bad for little dogs with anxiety. Just like human daycare, doggy daycare aka Dogtopia has three rooms they separate their dogs in. Instead of ages, they categorize pups based on their size. I noticed for my husky, she absolutely loves doggy daycare! She gets excited every time and bonus for pawrents: you'll get a full nights sleep due to the fatigue! My little guys, not so much. They like their space & quiet, and Dogtopia does not offer that. Kennels are along the sides, so when pups need a break, they put them in the kennels. It gives them "space", but doesn't remove them from the noise. You will need an evaluation for your pup for their first day that includes a day of play for a fee. Pricing policies have changed since we first started. There is now a weekly plan depending on how often your pups attend (ie once, 2x,3x, etc/week). Booking is easy once your kid is situated, you can book via app and you'll receive a notification once approved or declined. Try to book in advance, as last minute bookings aren't guaranteed. This Dogtopia fills up within 2 days! Also, side note for worried parents: web cams are available for you to check up on your pups throughout the day! Drop off/pick up can be chaotic as you have several pawrents waiting for their kids in one tiny waiting room, and kids are brought out by the family (which is THE only & best way to do it to avoid even more chaos). Unfortunately, the last time I picked up our dogs the odor was so overwhelming I had to step outside after five minutes of waiting in the lobby for my dogs. A couple of issues here. Odor is unacceptable. There is no excuse ever for this. A dog daycare must be kept clean and to a minimum standard every day! Second, there should always be some one up front during pick up and no one was there when we I arrived. Three others came in behind me and two others we're waiting when I got there. Dogtopia's treatment of dogs has gone downhill over the past 2 years. We started bringing our dogs in May 2019, and now May 2021 we are done with them. Our 70-lb mutt Rocky goes to daycare 3-4x / month. He is sometimes a hyper pup, but for the most part he is a friendly nap-a-holic. Never aggressive, never humping, never unmanageable. Last 3 months we've noticed a significant downturn in his treatment by watching the webcams. Here is what we noticed (a total of about 10 daycare sessions): - Inside of crate 90% of the day - When let out, it was for a few minutes only - Once he was laying down and sleeping, doing nothing, and got crated - A few times employees have pushed his back down to force him into a sit - If he is ever slightly playful with another dog, or in play-bow-pose, he gets crated - If he is ever in a scuffle with a dog, 10/10 times HE is the one getting crated, the other dog isn't even if they were equally rowdy - This male employee in my photo has used intimidation and bullying tactics on several dogs including Rocky, like "come at me" movements, stomping his feet at them, and even SPRAYING them with water Called and spoke to Brookie, the pet-parent relations manager about our concerns, she said she would review footage and promised to call us back. Still no call, 3 weeks go by, went in to see her and she said "We reviewed the footage that day and found that none of the treatment Rocky has gotten was out of our Dogtopia standards" -- If you don't find anything wrong with his treatment and have zero plan to remedy it, then that says it all. We need to do what's best for our dogs and find a place that aligns with OUR standards. We don't see value in paying you to crate our dog for us all day. I love the idea of doggy day cares, as it gives my dog plenty of socialization and interaction with other dogs. I have a big dog, and he can be a handful, but this is no longer the dogggy daycare for us. My dog has been going to Dogtopia for almost 2 years. The staff is friendly and the facilities are very clean. Dogtopia has a very easy booking system, which allows you to book services directly through an app on your phone. Within the app, you have access to view the cameras of the three rooms where the dogs can play. I've noticed that my dog is less excited when I drop him off at Dogtopia than the other doggy daycare he goes to. Dogtopia is a short drive from us. Like many reviews on here, my dog spends a lot of time in crates when he goes there. When I check the cameras, he is almost always in the crate. He constantly watches other dogs play while he is stuck in the crate. Today, when I checked the cams, I saw a bottle and a bucket on top the crate that my dog was in. I asked the person at front desk about it, and she told me that they have spray bottles with water as well as cleaner. She quickly changed the subject and asked me what "our plans were for Halloween." I understand mistakes happen, and it may have been water- but this is just felt off. My dog has been coming here for almost three years and we always have a positive experience with them. The staff is friendly and booking an appointment is easy peasy. We met the owner a few times during drop off or pick up too. We have our dog stay with them from 2-15 days at a time when going on vacations or trips. We are comfortable because we can watch Max on their webcam during his stay here. A few days ago, my dog got sick (bloody stool and vomiting) while I was away and I got a call from New Hope Vet that the owner of Dogtopia personally took my dog to the vet and had him on his lap as they waited to be seen, per the vet tech who called me. I am so thankful for wonderful human beings working at and with Dogtopia North. The owner personally drove my dog to the vet to be taken care of! If that is not a true dog lover and compassionate human being, I don't know what is. They also kept me up to date a few times throughout the next two days keeping me in the loop in case I had to fly back to pick my dog up. assured me that I can stay on my trip numerous times and that he is taken care of. When we picked him up, the staff wrote down his list of meds and how to step by step administer them. It was easier for me to take over when I got home. There was a banner hanging in the front of Dogtopia the day I picked my dog up. It said "Best franchise of the year" and I know why. Thank you so much for taking care of dogs the way you guys do! What a lovely conundrum for caring for my wife's friends dog! He is able to play while on camera for her to see. The management has a kind approach for interaction but my does the staff make us uncomfortable! The individuals who are the ones spending time with the dogs sure are an oddity. Not sure if they have people or dog skills but it certainly does not become clear for my wife or my wife's friend at drop off! What I witnessed was a gossip conversation, one...maybe 2 from staff who were supposed to be aiding the sweet canines in their rustic lobby. An oddity for certain and most alarming! My dog and I left our evaluation appointment at Dogtopia rather disappointed. I wanted to love the location, particularly after my friend's raving reviews of the Lakeline location. The staff was extremely nice, and Baylee was super responsive to email and other inquiries. I've had Cooper for four months now and was hoping some doggy daycare will help him overcome some of his social anxieties. I wanted to see if it would be a good transition for him before we got a trainer involved. I made sure to list my concerns on the intake form in case some of my concerns wouldn't be a good fit. He loves meeting strangers but can be jumpy if things are taken too quickly. While I understand the need to separate pup from parent for the evaluation, I was a little shocked over how the situation was handled. Cooper was understandably upset when I just handed the leash over to a stranger, especially since the trainer didn't take the time to greet him and get him warmed up to her. They ended up dragging him into the evaluation room. After having a hard time removing his harness and collar because my dog was on the defensive now, it was deemed he wouldn't be a good fit given his collar reactiveness. I understand completely that some dogs just need some time to get acclimated. What bothered me was the staff's insistence on dragging a reluctant dog away. I would have gladly brought treats or taken the time to do a proper introduction if I had known they were going to move so quickly. While I'm disappointed Dogtopia personally didn't work out, it seems like a great place for more easygoing pups. Told me I need to wait for another 30 to an hour. I asked why it's taking so long. They only have 1 person doing grooming work. Why did you schedule me for 10 am if you are gonna start her at 12 pm? they were gonna charge me for teeth & nails but didn't wash her. TOOK THEM 2 HOURS TO DO NAILS AND TEETH. We have been taking our pup to Dogtopia now for about 5 months. I love that they have web cams where you can check in on them . At first I would look the camera all day, nowadays I might check the camera one time a day Matt and his staff are amazing.. always so very professional and friendly. They have been more than accommodating for us going over and beyond to help us as move . As soon as I pull into the parking lot my Bruno starts to bark and wagging his tail like crazy, he runs to the building and paws the door to get in. Auggie, my puppy, had his first day at Dogtopia on Wednesday. After monitoring him on the webcam throughout the day I was super impressed that not only was he playing happily with other small breeds, but also being monitored the whole time by a "canine coach" who never stopped moving, cleaning, or playing with the pups. When I picked him up, there was a goodie bag waiting for me and a handwritten report of how he responded and who his furry friends were during the day. I was not expecting so much for such a reasonable price. I bought a pack of passes immediately and he's been to daycare twice more. Every time I pick him up he's happy and tired. I understand why they do that but my dog loves toys so it was a pretty big con) - no place to go to the bathroom. The dogs just go to the bathroom on the hard floor in the playroom. The person in each room cleans it up pretty quickly but I didn't like that my dog wasn't able to go outside. It seems like they have re-trained their employees on the proper expectations of giving breaks, as I've never had this issue! My pup had his first day and "Meet and Greet" (eval) today. He LOVED it. I'm taking him here primarily for socialization as he is way too attached to me. I work from home so we are always together. The process is very easy to start. The staff was great and very friendly. I loved being able to watch him on the webcams to see how he was doing. He was always monitored each time I checked in with staff in the room. They were cleaning as soon as needed. He came home super happy, relaxed, and TIRED. Took my boxer to the south Austin Dogtopia for his evaluation. They forwarded to the north austin location. (He passed with flying colors) took him in and left for work. Worth mentioning he was crate trained as a puppy....I Kept checking the cameras didn't see him in any of the rooms. After 90 min I called and asked if he was ok. The lady said they gave him another evaluation and he wouldn't go in the crate. I said why is he having another evaluation if he passed the first? Also, I asked why was he trying to be shoved in a crate one min after coming into a brand new location, with people he is not bonded with? For his safety I was told. Then they said they put him in an isolated room so he wasn't stressed out any further. I said YOU'RE the reason he is stressed, and now he is isolated as if he is aggressive?!?! They said the general manager would be there in 30min to try and get him to go in the crate. They apparently couldn't get him in there because he "put his brakes on" and used his back legs to not go in the crate. So they literally tried stuffing him in a crate. How awful!!! They wanted to rule with a fist instead of rewarding with positive rewards. And since when would a dog going in a crate test make them any different of a dog with the other dogs to socialize with? These people do not have proper training and experience with dogs in the least. I have worked with dogs specifically for 6 years. This is not the behavior of people who are trained handlers. I went and picked him up after him being in isolation for 2 hours. He never got to be with any of the other dogs. And recall I was told the manager was going to be there? Yeah she wasn't there yet. Their word is about as good as the "care" they give to these dogs. After I picked him up, he was doing that very fast panting dogs do when they are stressed. My dog had 3 injuries, fungal/wart growths in her mouth, and 2 kennel coughs during her time at Dogtopia. I used to send my dog here Monday through Friday every week for about 6 months. During that time, my dog was bit by one of the staff's dog in the ear. I received a call right away saying it was "not that bad" but when I went to pick her up i was ugly crying with my mouth open bc her raw flesh was flapping from her ear. I understand accidents happen but they didn't stop their staff from bringing her dog. What amazed me was that they were all aware the staff's dog can get territorial and aggressive, they didn't do anything to prevent the issue before the accident happened. Another incident was when an elderly dog with health issues and also known to snap at other dogs was in training. This dog was being trained in the same room as the general daycare play area, under the trainer's supervision the dog had a seizure and when my dog approached her he/she snapped at her ear. I received a call immediately and was told it was minor but sure enough, my dog had two holes punctured through her ear (the same ear she was bitten the time before). Again, accidents happen but why are they allowing these dogs to come to their facility when they are aware of their history and temperament? I thought the purpose of evaluating dogs before they can register at daycare was for this purpose. In addition, if you look at the webcam you can see all the crates lined up against the wall. My dog injured her back leg bc it got caught in the crate while she was playing and it skinned off her entire hind leg and the staff had no idea why she was limping. This is not a safe set up and the room is quite small to begin with for these large dogs. Not to mention, they don't let the dogs outside for potty breaks and they say their indoor floor is made out of turf or whatnot that will make them think they're pottying outdoors. This is false. Ever since my dog started going to Dogtopia, mid play she would potty on the carpet like it was no big deal. My dog was potty trained at 9 weeks so you can imagine my surprise and the correlation when i found out the dogs all go inside. Lastly, my dog had two kennel coughs during her stay at Dogtopia even though she was fully vaccinated. I would always notice her with eye goop and she smelled like cleaning products all the time. Made me wonder if the cleaning products were too toxic for her. Also the 4 nasty wart-like fungal growth she had in her mouth one time during her stay at Dogtopia was the last straw. I'm really skeptical of the sanitation and the cleaning products Dogtopia utilizes. My dog goes to a different daycare now and has been for a year. I've had no issues with her getting hurt by other dogs or by equipment at her current place. This shows the distinction between Dogtopia and other daycares in your neighborhood so please do your due diligence and research the best place to send your furkids. read more

I brought my dog to Dogtopia for a meet and greet/evaluation day. The staff was very nice and welcoming! When I picked up my dog at the end of the day they took the time to give me a tour. While my dog does not go there every day, I would like to share my first impression of the facility. They run their program like a daycare, meaning that they let the dogs play all day, which is great. Your pup will go home tired! They do not have an outdoor area, so the dogs go to the bathroom where they play, which is all indoors. I was told their mats do not absorb messes and that they clean them throughout the day. I did not go inside every area of the facility, so I can't comment on how well-ventilated or clean the rooms are; however, in my opinion I believe it causes two things: 1. it may lead the dog to believe that going potty indoors is acceptable and 2. it creates a shared space where germs and bacteria can quickly spread from dog to dog and cause your pup to contract an illness like kennel cough. Although my dog is current with all his vaccines, he was diagnosed with kennel cough just a few days after visiting this location, which I was told a dog can still get even after getting vaccinated. I cannot confirm that this is where he contracted the illness; however, coincidentally he got sick shortly after being there. I was really hoping this place would work out as its location is super close to my home and office, I really liked the staff, and they are involved with the community, but with all that said, I will not be taking my little guy back. read more

Is it possible to give less than one star?! When we came to pick up my dog we were told that he had contracted kennel cough, a highly contagious disease spread through the air. We received no apology and the staff didn't seem like they were going to do anything to fix the problem. When we took my dog to the vet they said that they had seen another dog with kennel cough that had been boarded at dogtopia within the last two weeks! In my opinion, they should have let everyone who had dogs boarded there know that the HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS DISEASE was going around. My poor dog is miserable coughing up tons of flem and we have another dog at home that we need to find someone else to take care of so he doesn't contract it too. I LOVE Dogtopia! We have been using them for doggie daycare about once or twice a month when we need our 2 year old Border Collie/Lab mix (Connie) to just get completely worn out and man does it work! She is so excited to enter the building and then passes out cold on the way home! We also recently used them to board her for 5 days and I could not have felt better leaving her with them. She literally slept for two days after she was boarded! I originally LOVED dogtopia, great service and attendants who all appeared to love my dogs as well. Providing good dog daycare services and play time along with cameras to watch my dogs interact. I have gone a total of 4 times two great experiences, one pretty decent one (after complaining in the morning they fixed my issue by the afternoon) however after this last experience today I will NEVER send my dogs back, nor refer to anyone. I have two AMAZING dogs, a 5 year old lab mix and a 2 year old catahoula who I admit is high energy-when he is excited. My dog spent the entire day in a crate because he was "high energy". Now mind you this is his fourth time attending, they all know him and from past visits all have had nothing but great things to say about him INCLUDING Dogtopia's trainer. My dog instead of interacting with other dogs (who all were the same amount of hyper) was shut in a kennel and ignored. Unless you want to count the total of 3 minutes (I watched the cameras from work and timed the three times he was let out. 1 minute if that each time) he was out when they " gave him ample chances to get energy out and interact with other dogs". My dog constantly is at the dog park, friendliest dog there, wants to be loved on and played with, throw a ball and he's happy as can be, yet gets exhausted within 5 minutes of playing he's done and will lay in the park until we leave. However to the rude owner, who did nothing to try and resolve my issue just make excuses why he was out of the kennel a total of 3 minutes, to saying "I just don't agree with you, sorry" I know my dog better than you do, but locking a dog in a kennel (when he isn't even in one at home) all day, then complaining he has energy when you "tried to let him out" no shit he has energy. The entire day he would stand up when a dog came to smell him wagging his tail, or if an attendant walked by, just to be ignored. I will NEVER come back, poor management and resolution of customer concerns. Oh but I bet I should mention you didn't make me pay today was your resolution....I don't feel like I should have when you did nothing for me that I couldn't have easily done at home and you clearly knew, as I'm sure everyone I spoke to knew I was not happy with the service. Absurd, be aware if your dog has an ounce of energy monitor the cameras because my dog wasn't even the only one (three total) that I saw kenneled ALL day today. EDITED TO ADD: When unknown to my knowledge at the time, my Mom decided to call and file a complaint the owner then proceeded to lie about the circumstances stating that my dog nor any other dogs were ever crated today (despite video proof) then retracted her statement stating that she was then "feared for her safety" mind you my dog is beyond friendly, never been aggressive and we to this point had received nothing but compliments on our dog from multiple employees at Dogtopia including trainers. IF my dog ever was being aggressive I should have been notified- which I wasn't because he was not being aggressive, kind of impossible to be when he is locked in a crate all day. I feel for the individuals who put their utmost trust in these people to watch their beloved pets considering everything that has happened. Very caring staff. They treat your pooch as if it was their own. My Bella practically jumps in their arms when she arrives. I always know they love her. I have never had a worry while my Bella is with them. The owners and staff get to know their pups and will bend over backwards to accommodate you and pups needs.
