The good: food was decent for what it was. Dark, cozy interior and comfy seating. Service was decent. The bad: cash only - what?! Talk about inconvenient. I get wanting to save on fees but it's 2026 ... let's make things easy for people. They do have an ATM in the back but again that all just feels annoying. Secondly, it smelled like smoke. Not sure if they had some tournaments going on in the back but the last thing I want to do when I'm eating is to smell cigarettes. That'll be a pass. read more

This is your classic dive bar/diner with video poker in the back. They do breakfast and onion rings well but that's about it. I ordered a garden salad which turned out to be just a plate of pink tinged romaine lettuce and a plastic cup of ranch dressing. For $6 I expect better. Blue Moon has become our go-to for variety and affordable dining out. The iconic lounge can't be missed, with its large lighted neon sign decorating 3rd Street--it's basically a lighthouse for hungry adults. The atmosphere is definitely "loungy," but clean and warm. The lighting is low (perfect for hiding how much we eat) and the big tufted leather (faux, not sure, but very comfy) booths are great. Service is friendly and prompt, and if you are a regular you get an even friendlier greeting, like Norm from Cheers. We keep hoping someone will yell our name when we walk in, but so far, no luck. Lately, we opt for the bar countertop, which is harder to score than a winning lottery ticket on most nights at prime dinner time. This night, Noah was our server. He is always friendly and a genuinely nice person. Tonight, we heard about his vacation trip to see his grandmother in New Zealand--we were so engrossed we almost forgot to order our food! It amazes me how incredibly busy this bar restaurant is--full to the brim--and the staff (typically 2 servers/bartenders and 2 cooks) manage to stay friendly, tell stories, and never miss an order, check, or payout of a lottery ticket. Most nights when we go it's just Hailee working. How Hailee handles THE WHOLE BAR by herself is incredible to witness; we think she might be a magician. We love Noah, but Hailee is our favorite. The food is excellent; you can order anything on the menu and it will be good. We love the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Sandwich (sub soup, didn't know it was a $3 adder--my wallet had a mild heart attack, but it was worth it). The sandwich cost $10 and typically comes with a generous portion of fries or tots. The clam chowder was delicious, savory with lots of clams. The sandwich has a lot of gooey American cheese and the tomato slices are fresh and juicy; this meal is an incredible value at $10. We also love their club sandwich: turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and cheese on toasted sourdough, $14, served with a generous portion of fries or tots. This lounge is for adults only (sorry, kids, no tots for you here) and a cash-only establishment (so hit the ATM first, unless you want to wash dishes). Blue Moon is a local favorite and is doing a wonderful job keeping the prices reasonable for a blue-collar community in a "bougie" neighborhood. If you're visiting McMinnville, stay away--this place is for locals only (kidding, not kidding). It's a five-star experience without the five-star prices. read more

Outstanding chefs! Outstanding service! Outstanding prices! Overall five stars! We are thankful for Blue Moon's chefs who have created dishes that are beautiful as well as delicious. We have always been served and abundance of food. When our plates are brought to the table, they are full! The prices are absolutely reasonable, which is another reason why we keep going back. We don't feel our wallets are being gouged. The honest pricing is refreshing and we are proud to support Blue Moon's staff! It really is a give-and-take even exchange. Yes you can have breakfast for dinner! There really is something on the menu for everyone. They also have a full bar and a beautiful area for those who wish to be entertained by the lottery games. I cannot comment further on the two because I don't drink nor do I know how to use the lotto machines, but they are clean and when I do see people at the machines, they show me that they are winners often and are very happy. My only gripe is that the music is too loud. Turning it down a couple notches would make our experience 100% enjoyable rather than 90% enjoyable. Regardless, I give five stars! read more

You wouldn't think a dive bar kitchen could make such a delicious meal at 9pm on a weeknight but here it is. The ribeye was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It wasn't Prime meat but I wasn't expecting that. Every bite was tender enough and it was due to the cook's skills and not due to some kind of texture-ruining marinade. The beef flavor came through. The stuffed potato was full of cheesy mashed potato with big chunks of rendered bacon and green onions. The bread was split and griddled just right. The salad with blue cheese had big chunks of cheese that were more creamy than funky and I appreciate that. The unexpected star was the included creamy vegetable soup. It was a small cup because it was so rich like a chowder. The veggies were real root vegetables in odd shaped chunks for authenticity. We came here for The Meltdown. There were 3 of us and we all ordered and enjoyed the grilled cheese. The tots and fries served as a side were perfect. We also had the pretzel. It was good. It's a bar. There are booths. There's also bar counter seating. The music was good. And there were lots of people. I imagine it gets pretty fun later in the night. I've always loved coming to this place for a good burger or sandwich and I usually came at night. Now I remember why... There is some lady named Tammy that works during the day. I've never met anyone so rude with a total lack of common courtesy. Her attitude is horrible and she makes you feel like you're intruding on her time. She doesn't smile, gives yes and no questions and doesn't explain anything about the menu if asked. Horrible demeanor. An excellent dive bar. Down to earth. A little gritty. Cash only. (Which makes for cheap drinks.) One woman tending bar for a pretty full house. She was efficient both at keeping patrons' drinks flowing and at making sure no one walked out with their beverages in hand (which many people actually attempted...). Full kitchen. Our group didn't order food, but the back house was busy filling orders while we were there late night. Oh, and lotto too, if gambling is your pleasure. Went in this morning for breakfast but was treated with great disrespect. After I sat myself down, the bartender (waitress) through the menu onto the table I was sitting at. Did not say a word. When she finally came by, I told her I did not appreciate her throwing the menu down onto my table, she quickly apologized while walking away from my table. I decided to leave. Before I left though, I was going to say something to the waitress...again, standing at the bar waiting for her to kindly take the order of the couple that was right there, and she completely ignored me. I asked the couple if they had noticed that she ignored me. The blonde lady responded by saying "she probably didn't see you". OK. At this point, I'm upset. I just wanted a simple breakfast. I wondered if this had to do with the color of my skin. BTW, I'm latin and I did not see any other people of color in that organization. I hope that's not the case. Blue Moon has been a staple here in downtown McMinnvile for years. I still remember when the Shroeders owned it. It used to be a fairly good place to go and spend time with friends. I did not eat there. There are plenty of good restaurants in McMinnville that I can spend my money at that doesn't treat there potential customers like that. read more

I usually like to come here and get Long Island iced teas and food, maybe gamble a little. Came here tonight and get a Long Island bartender was an absolute jerk, she made my drink so strong it was clear. So I asked for some tea and I understand that the drink doesn't actually have tea in it but I wanted tea and was being nice when asked. This is a $10 drink I feel like I shouldn't have to ask in the first place and she pops off asking if I ever had a Long Island and I asked if she ever made one. A situation occurred in this establishment where a female patron was not protected from a male aggressor over an unattended seat, staff did not attempt to remove or defuse the male. The situation was clear in his body language the male was willing to get physical. He proceeded to yell and degrade this female's intelligence, race in attempt to intimidate this women with his fists balled showcasing his intentions. This woman was kicked out!! The man proceeded to follow this women to another establishment where she was physically assaulted by the same male!!!! Shame on bartender Brittany for not handling the situation properly!!!!! This is a local hangout on 3rd street in Mcminnville. It isn't fancy but we have eaten here many times since moving to Mcminnville. It has kind of an old tavern feel but the service and food are good. They make great stuffed potatoes and they know how to cook liver and onions. Their steak specials are good too. We decided at the last minute to get a meal delivered from Blue Moon Saloon through Door Dash. It was amazing. We got a steak dinner and a patty melt. Everything was just perfect. The steak was done to perfection and the patty melt was perfect. They package the meals so that they do not become soggy. Door Dash could not have been faster. Beyond horrible service - rude and obnoxious. A friend (30 years old) forgot her ID and instead of asking her to politely leave they immediately told her to "get the f*** out". Oddly enough they didn't ask anyone else for their ID and even made up an odd lie that it's Oregon law to only check women's IDs (for sure not true). I love the blue moon mom worked there from 1957 to 1966 and when I got married Gary bought our dinners and drinks, Two steaks, and two Shirley Temples to go with. For the next 40 years, Gary would see us come in and be right there to take the order. Only when we were old enough for real alcohol drinks did we get them. And Doris was always so much fun and a dear. There was never a time anyone would mess with her. This place is still the heart of Mcminnville Oregon. So many friends through the years have walked through those doors.
